Beds very uncomfortable. No sea view room as requested. TV did not work in room. No tea bags in room.
Nice friendly hotel in excellent location. We would definitely go again.
Just a bit noisy due to the work accross the road on the pier.
The room ,the staff, the breakfast ,the Hotel in the perfect position for seafront, shops n Restaurants ,good value for the price we paid
Bedroom carpet ,old n stained .no chair in room, just a small stool at dressing table ,lighting in bedroom very dim.
fantastic location right on seafront. Owner was a lovely man - very friendly and welcoming. Great shower!
Dirty room ,poor decor ,noisy , uncomfortable bed
Four poster bed. The room was large enough to accommodate the largest bed I have ever slept in (I have a king size bed at home and this was larger) and a double sofa bed for our daughter. Lovely room, great view.
Another guest, smoking late one night, set off the fire alarm so everyone had to stand outside in bed attire until we had the all clear. On the plus side the staff were very professional and unflappable during this unscheduled fire test!
The breakfast room was well laid out. The staff were friendly.
Room was very small and hot, only 1 window opened. Had no lights the 1st night. No tv signal the 2nd night. Duvet way way too big for the cover it was in and had to be folded over inside the cover. Only enough tea and coffee for 1 cup each in room. Found a long hair in my breakfast on the 2nd morning.
big clean bathroom lady on reception
shabby interior very small room view onto a brick wall meter away. dingy towels breakfast not served till 8am entrance littered with cigarette ends.
Perfect location, staff helpfulness.
The hotel is a little tired and my bed was uncomfortable
Site, staff, cleanliness.
Breakfast, broken fittings in room, tired image .
Excellent staff, food very good
The breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly.
The room was tired with wallpaper hanging off the wall above the wardrobe. We are used to flat screen tv's now, the tv was old and the picture kept breaking up
Great location next to pier Comfortable rooms Very friendly staff Free wifi connection
Limited mobile connection Basic rooms could do with a facelift Friend's room had poor shower facility and very small single room
Comfortable, Nice staff Location Parking permits available for small fee Value for money
Room was dated, decor needs modernising Small room
The staff were so obliging and helped us with all our needs. Hotel was clean and breakfast excellent.
The hotel is perhaps a little dowdy but very clean and all the pro's outweighed this small criticism.
Location.Friendly atmosphere.the restaurant.Parking.
The english breakfast was small & not i would class as a english breakfast.
The location is very good, in front of the pier. Breakfast wasn't too bad.
The rooms were awful. My room was facing the wall of the building next door, just 1 metre away from another building. Not really nice views from a bedroom. Very small room with low ceiling and really claustrophobic. We asked for a change but the staff wasn't very helpful. WC was blocked. The bathroom was tiny. TV was tiny. And you pay high price just because it's well located. I would definitely remove 2 stars from this hotel. They need a refurbishment and a bit of advice on how to treat customers.
location good size bed friendly staff
hair on shower head tired décor awful net curtains a bit dusty
Excellent service that went the extra mile, they amended the original booking from the previous weekend (unable to stay due to sudden illness) after the 72 hour cut-off, without any amendment or cancellation charges, allowed early check in upon arrival, and after checking out was allowed to leave luggage at reception until our train home several hours later... all done with a smile & without hesitation or grumpiness. Thanks a million to Emma & her team, I will be staying here again. Great location, comfortable room, excellent bath/shower, lovely breakfast, wonderful sea view from room.
Nothing to dislike. We'll be back for sure.
I had decided to take a short break in Eastbourne, I was looking for somewhere cheap that had some good reviews, this was the last place I looked at for the simple reason I thought the location would have made it more expensive than others. I looked at the prices and thought that this would reflect a lack of facilities - how wrong was I, more expensive hotels nearby didn't even offer free WiFi, some had shared bathroom facilities, and some didn't even have a bar - I'm teetotal so that would not have affected me but its a good place to meet other guests. Friendly staff, surprisingly quiet for it being on the main seafront road, clean, good breakfast, local transport is close by, great views, and I loved the quirkiness of the building - in room 101 the door is slightly off true, the shower cubicle opens to the opposite side to where you think it should open, the narrow stairwells etc, these are not complaints, just observations, and I know that the building has been there many years an its structural qualities cannot be controlled by management. I have given two of the general ratings 4 out of 5 only because of my own personal likes, this it not intended to show a negative review, let me explain, for the comfort I gave a lower score for the simple reason, although I'm single I prefer to sleep in a double bed so I don't keep knocking my knee on a wall each time I turn over in bed. As for the facilities, I like drinking tea, so more than 2 teabags and 2 cartons of milk per day would have been more enjoyable, the television reception on a couple of channels was hit and miss, not a major problem though because I only used it late evening for visual and early morning for sound (radio). I will be using this hotel again when I next visit Eastbourne.
These are not the things that I disliked, they are observations that others might find useful. The entrance has fairly steep steps so those with mobility issues may find this a bit daunting, there is no wheelchair access, and there is no lift inside - it's an old building. If you have a sea view room then be aware that since it is south facing it will get very warm during sunny days. The hotel doesn't have its own self contained restaurant but there is an excellent one underneath that has, or had, links with the company that owns the hotel - but only stayed open until about 9 PM. Sadly, because of the fire on the pier on 30th July 2014 the view from the hotel will have changed slightly.
Locality was great , group of friends all catered for together and staff very accommodating
No air con ... Even a fan would have been nice
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, they changed our room on arrival for a more suitable one as it was just myself and my daughter, the breakfast was delicious and the location is perfect. It was just what we wanted from a seafront hotel.
The only thing i can say is the decor is a little old fashioned and tired, but even that didn't detract from the enjoyment of our stay.
breakfast was good, staff were friendly.
My single room on the 2nd floor was TINY and cramped. Because it was a sunny day the room was UNBEARABLY hot and the window didn't open. Because it is near the pier the noise from boisterous teenagers went on until 3.00am and the seagulls started at 4.00am. I did not sleep much. If I ever stay in Eastbourne again I will stay away from the sea front.
viel Lärm von der Strasse
Our stay at the Pier Hotel was excellent and the hotel staff could not do enough for us, so friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was lovely and set us up for the day, didn't think we'd be able to eat anything for the rest of the day, until we had to give in to the smell of fish and chips! The view from our room was stunning looking down the Pier and out to sea, with great views of the well maintained gardens on the seafront. We've stayed hear twice now and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a great place to stay and provides excellent value for money.
