the location is good and the staff friendly. the fittings are dated but the hotel was built a long time ago. a lick of paint is needed but for the price we were happy.
the stairs were a bit of a problem on the entry, as we are disabled, but the lift worked. i think disabled access would benefit the hotel greatly.
Breakfast was excellent room clean sea view
Not being able to get drink after we come back at ten thirty all locked up but it was winter and not many guests
The rooms with the sea view were wonderful, especially when the sun came up in the morning.
The WIFI did not work all of the time.
found staff very helpful and gave us good tips of places to eat in town and advised us where we could park, the breakfast was very welcoming indeed after a good nights sleep.
there was nothing to dislike
4 poster bed is wonderful staff really helpful
there is nothing about this hotel i dont like
Good location, good breakfast. Very friendly staff.
location & price
at that price, nothing.....
food staff ambience
Staff friendly and helpful, rooms were comfy and warm
Not so much didn't like, as could do with a bit of an update? Just a little bit tired looking?
Wide choice of breakfast. Kind personnel. Cleanliness in all premises. Location is perfect. Sea view is lovely even in rain.
Very small room with nowhere to sit and relax but the bed (we had twin room with sea view). Storage space in the room is just enough for only couple of days. For the price and quality of the hotel I would expect more equipment in the bathroom (e.g. paper tissues, shower cream or hand soap - it was only one at welcoming, no additional); missing shelves to put your stuff and hangers to dry your towel). WiFi worked slowly with breaks but it is common fact in UK hotels.
All of it
Nice clean room and staff very approachable and polite. Lovely breakfast included in competitive room rate. Sea view.
Location directly opposite the actual Eastbourne Pier was good and also close to shops and night life. Staff were very good.
Lift was quite good but didn't stop directly onto all floors so often some stairs to climb and a labyrinth of corridors to some rooms so its probably better suited for physically able but it is an interesting character hotel. Ensure you state clearly on your booking request that your single room actually does have a bath as not all single rooms have a bath and make sure you also make your room with bath request clear in your special requests to hotel message box.
Great location, on the seafront, right opposite the pier. Very helpful and friendly staff, especially at breakfast. The second room that we took (after complaining about the windows and the broken heating in the bathroom of the first room) was quite big and the beds were good. Good solution for parking.
The "newer" windows at the front of the building are a bad joke. At breakfast the flowers and the menu on the table sway in the breeze coming through the closed window. The walls are paper thin. The building contractors who use the hotel in winter are not the quietest of people. Fortunately they don't start work until 9am. Choice at breakfast is limited, but fine if you like a good English cooked breakfast.
Position of hotel
Friendly staff and clean room. Good value for money
Breakfast Free wifi location to seafront
dirty shower curtain and plug hole uncomfortable sofa bed noise outside our window involving police at 3am
Four poster bed, breakfast room good with good choice of food.
Room108 very messy only clean surfaces, found other guest receipts under the bedside cupboards with plenty of fluff. The kettle so much scale you got black deposits in the cup.Bathroom no vent, filthy dirty, on ceiling,no glasses at whb.very sad room
The location by the seafront is excellent but parking is at a premium near the hotel. Parking tickets can be obtained from reception at a much reduced rate. The rooms are comfortable but could do with a makeover. Staff are polite and helpful. We arrived late on the friday but it was not a problem. The new owner took over in July 14 so I would expect some improvements during the winter.
Heating was not working in our room and the windows were draughty, but it was blowing like a hurricane!
No chef and no meals available at weekends ?? no extra blankets or pillows available ??
The location and view, right opposite the pier. The price, value for money. Really friendly staff. A stone's throw from the shops. Bus stop outside for trips without the car. Cheap parking with hotel permit. Excellent food, both at breakfast and in the evening. Instant hot water in the bathroom. Very clean with plenty of storage if you wanted it. Definitely going back next time we want to stay in Eastbourne.
Thought the bed needed a new mattress and pillows were wafer thin. (Slept anyway because we were so tired) Couldn't get the wifi to work but no one else had problems.
Breakfast very minimal.
The receptionist when we checked in was lovely and helpful.
The shower was all covered in limescale and the bath had a chip out of it. The lights were so dim you could hardly see, breakfast was poorly cooked and i found mould in a teapot which i gace to the waitress and she said thanks?
Location friendly and polite staff
Beds could be a bit more comfortable
