Lovely room. Really spacious and comfortable. Amazing food - love the mussels. Lovely breakfast
Lovely frontage which on New Year's Eve we weren't allowed to use. Would be worth checking in summer if that applies to every Friday and Saturday
Everything, this is on of my favourite hotels.
The comfy bed, airy room and not smelly or too hot.
Slightly tired but homely
Checking in in lounge bar.
The location was great , the room was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful
The people leaving the pub were loud
The staff are really friendly and and helpful. The room was perfectly fine for the money. I had an evening meal which the barman brought up to my room so I could dodge the karaoke night in the bar downstairs. Food was good. I will stay here again.
The location is right by Leas Hall, so can be a little noisy depending on what event they have on. On the other hand, if you are in Folkestone to see a gig at Leas Hall, then this is the perfect place to stay!
The location was great with easy access to the main shopping area, breakfast had plenty of choice and the waitress was helpful. Excellent one night stop over.
Top floor room was a killer, lots of stairs.
Nice clean room
wifi wasn't working
Location good. 15 minute walk to harbour. Friendly staff. Good stopover if going to France
Staff very polite and willingness to help.
Pillows quite hard which meant not a good nights sleep.
Very spacious room
Bit old fashioned....haven't had blankets for years!
good choice at breakfast friendly staff excellent service large room king size bed good location
sheets and blankets, would have preferred a duvet
Everything was dandy. I enjoyed staying at The Portland and will book again.
small friendly hotel, easy access to street.well located off Leas Cliff.
Wanted a bath,only a shower ! l
Staff very attentive Email before trip outlining booking in at bar, stairs, parking Excellent value for a budget room i felt that i was given same service and a valued customer
Noise from street in early hours
Great price and location, friendly staff, they packed me a breakfast as I was leaving early. comfortable room
Comfortable and well located. Very good service from the staff Free Wi-Fi with good signal strength
No dedicated parking. If spaces are free then an overnight cost is £1 which is reasonable if you wish to stay beyond 8am in the morning. Limited cooked breakfast but plenty of cold buffet available
breakfast was very good. room was clean bar was good and steady trade even in october
shower a little dated, unable to adjust flow stairs- if in the standard rooms be prepared to negotiate three flights of stairs
Staff very friendly and sorted a mistake on check in very satisfactorily. Food service a little slow - but very good when it arrived. Unfortunately weather was poor so was unable to walk on the leas in the evening.
Originally booked hotel as believed it had a car park - or at least free parking. It didn't, although parking was only £1 for 24hrs. Check in procedure a bit unusual and disjointed. Think a full cooked breakfast could be included for the price. Not proper negatives really.
The staff was very helpful...the location ideal for what I needed.
The accommodation was a little dated.
A good value budget hotel close to the euro tunnel, easy to find friendly staff and plentiful breakfast.
If you're not on a motorcycle parking could be tricky
Location. Good access to west end and The Leas. Affordable price. Parking permit only £1 for 35 hours
Very basic. Needs updating.
Ideal location for Channel Tunnel, only 10 minute drive
The towels in the room still very hard.
Staff pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, good selection of food and choice of something hot. Dining room was lovely.
Bar area was a bit tired. Dinner served in the bar was good but only a bar table was available indoors .
