- The staff were possibly the most friendly and helpful staff we have encountered in any hotel; - the layout of the hotel and garden rooms provided a pleasant and relaxing environment; - the quality and variety of the food was very good.

Staff were great, very helpful and friendly. I was in a twin room in the courtyard the first night, and a double room the second night. Due to an issue out of the Hotel's control, I was upgraded to a superior double room on the second night. This was a fabulous room - it was so good I decided to stay an extra night. The receptionist really looked after me, so top marks to her. The hotel building had character, rooms were clean, grounds were very pleasant, and the staff did genuinely care. I would stay in the main building again. My one night in the courtyard was a bit mixed. The room was clean and really very nice, the courtyard was lovely, However you could hear voices, toilet etc from the next door room, so that spoilt it. The superior double room for the next two nights was wonderful, although the temperature was a little low and no way to heat the room up. The food though was a let-down for the standard of hotel. I had sausage, mash and veg one evening, the only edible things were the sausages, the mash was unpleasant and veg overcooked. The full english breakfast was disappointing - for the price (if paying separately) it was very stingey (one sausage, one rasher; beans would have been extra). The fried egg was perfect, the bacon was mummified. Continental breakfast was ok but no more. Decent coffee.

The staff made every effort to give you service and advice to make your stay pleasant. The food was excellent and creative. Garden area pleasant and easy parking. A tired hotel . Used by companies for training, delegates keep walking through the dining room to conference room. The room had not been checked properly before our arrival. If it rained you would get wet as rooms were in the garden area and no covered way.

The room was comfortable, warm ambiance, which was welcome after a cold journey, One had to ummediately book dinner, if required, We were uncertain until seeing choice of menu. This was not in our room. We decided to take a chance, but the Head Waiter went into a flap when we went down to book a table, pointing out how many were ahead of us, it would be at least half-an- hour and gave the impression the cook could not cope. Visions of Masterchef came into mind, when they yell 2 minutes. Anyway we went to the local pub across the road, who do a good stead.

This is a friendly hotel, and the staff are generally helpful and polite. In the courtyard rooms the bed is too hard for my liking, and the decoration was tired. The rooms in the house are much better.

Had a courtyard room, lots of space, good location. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent, lovely sunny conservatory, overlooking the gardens. .It was a bit noisy in the courtyard rooms in the mornings, with deliveries to the hotel.

Friendly staff and location Whilst the room was clean, the layout was very basic with cheap flat-pack style furniture. Difficult to watch the TV because the doors of the cabinet did not open fully.

The grounds were beautiful and it was nice to be appart from the actual hotel. Unfortunately although the staff were very pleasent, the food was overprised and my fish overcooked. It was quite an expensive meal but I needed a desert as I was still hungry after soup with roll which I think was reheated from previous day, and fish with letils. Unusual for me to need 3 courses. Would recoment the hotel but not the food.

The breakfast was excellent - all freshly cooked to order rather than these mediocre breakfast buffets that seem to prevail in hotels these days. Service at breakfast was very good. The location of the hotel was convenient for both city and countryside. The rooms were spacious and quiet - mine was in a separate block outside the main hotel building. The room was very stuffy and smelt a bit damp and musty, the decor was a little bland and dated. It felt a bit like a sheltered housing unit! The tv was incoveniently located in a shelving unit and the doors of the unit when opened meant that the tv was partly obscured - no use if you wanted to watch tv in bed! Opening the window to air the room was spoilt by guests in the block opposite smoking outside their room. There were cobwebs in the bathroom.

“I found the standard to be very good - worked out perfectly for my family, who really enjoyed it. It was relaxed, fun and friendly. Especially important to us at the moment was money as we have to be very cautious with it, so I really wanted this stay to be ideal - and it was.” Andy, Enfield |
