Check in and breakfast and dinner was very good The barman served a warm glass of white wine, and when I asked for a cold one, he replied I can put some ice in as we have no bottles in the fridge.!!! Not a good practise We have a twin room and the beds are vey narrow, no newspaper arrived We wanted to pay cash at the end of the stay, but we were informed that the card had been used..!!!

Good location and near to train station. Excellent breakfast and lots of choice. I stayed at the Raven Hotel as me and my husband had a wedding to attend that weekend. We were flying in from Singapore that morning and asked for a early check in if possible. We received an e-mail from a lady stating this would be fine and that if not she would let me know and they would do the best to accommodate us. This made us feel positive about the hotel. However when arriving the man at the desk was not welcoming, rude and even bad mouthed his colleagues to us as he wouldn't not keep to the early check in., I would not have minded as it was a big ask however he didn't even say he would try and have a room ready as early as possible. Overall the stay was ok but his attitude spoilt our time there and I would not stay there again, there are plenty of places to stay in that area for the same price and the rooms are bigger, less noisy and have better staff. Good else where!

Location very convenient for business trip to Basingstoke. The tv signal was very poor and sometimes no channels were available. Dinner trays left outside room doors from room service eevening meals were still in the corridors the next morning. Someone had obviously been round delivering guests papers but had not taken the trays away, leaving a curry smell in the corridors, not pleasant first thing in the morning. The biscuits in the room were stale. Room booking was messed up so instead of a superior double I ended up with a standard twin. The single beds in the twin room were the narrowest single beds I have ever come across in a hotel. I almost felt that if I turned over in my sleep I might fall out of bed!

Friendly staff, reasonable menu, most comfy bed in the world! There was a bit of a labyrinth to get to the room. Loud loud live music in the bar that could be heard from within my room. Unattended reception.

Convience and comfort with helpful and respectful staff. My booking, by E.mail, clearly requested a ground or lower floor room as I suffer badly with leg trouble. On arrival I was allocated, I believe, a room (36) at the highest point in the hotel. I am very unhappy that my request was not listened too, or imformed by the hotel that they could not comply with it. It is likely that I shall not stay at the Raven again.

“It was central and close to shops and restaurants. Close to Thorpe Park and London. Extremely well equipped and clean accommodation. Spacious and easily accommodated 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Would definitely stay longer if we were on an extended trip to visit London or surrounding attractions. Would highly recommend this accommodation.” Melanie, Burnham-on-sea |
