Great location (base) to get the best out of the lakes, owners are really friendly and will help with anything, breakfasts are cooked to order so are really tasty and fresh, rooms are really clean and even though its close to a busy road the walls are so thick you don't really notice. Plenty of parking which is a massive plus in the lakes, believe me! Would definitely recommend and will be staying there again!

The Ravensworth is one of the best I have ever stayed in. Immaculate room and service, friendly, but not gushing, staff.easy to find and with excellent parking facilities. Cannot praise highly enough. One of those places you do not tell anyone about in case there is no room left when you want one!

Nick & Cheryl provided us with exactly what we were looking for - a short activity based break with a comfortable retreat and excellent breakfast. Their knowledge and contacts made it easy for us to pitch up and have everything planned in advance. Abseiling and canoeing were our choice activities and this was delivered fully with our own instructor (Alyn) guiding us through the day and turning it to a such a memorable experience that we will have to tell everyone we meet. The loan of equipment, maps and other information ensured that there was little else that could have been done to help us. Many, many thanks to you all, this was something we looked forward to and hope to repeat in the not too distant future

Ok let's get the bad points out of the way; We were in an annex room, there was alittle bit of road noise but not enough to keep us awake. Good points; Great location just a short wall to the local pub, shops and restaurants of Windermere and just a mile from bowness for more choice. Rooms and hotel very clean throughout Rooms spacious and ours even had it's own patio Lovely tv room with lots of DVD, books and info Computer for guest use The staff and owners are very friendly and helpful!! Nothing is too much trouble And finally probably the best breakfast I've had in any hotel or guest house!! Well worth a visit!!!

We were given a warm welcome (cuppa and scones) which was really nice as we had both been at work that day ! The room was fine, comfortable and plenty of hot water and refreshments available. We particularly liked the fact that we could easily walk to restaurants and pubs nearby for a meal and drink. The breakfast was superb. Just a pity we were only able to stay for one night but it was just what we needed and thoroughly enjoyed our time. Hope we can return soon.

Very warm welcome upon arrival met by the owner/proprietor who immediately made to feel at home shown room and greeted with tea/coffee and home made mince pie !! Great room comfy 4 poster bed ( bathroom O.K. plenty of hot water etc) according to owner (Nick) will be updated very soon, which would then get 'excellent' ratings for everything Lovely setting for breakfast which all the party of 6 throughly enjoyed. No hesitation in recommending 'The Ravensworth' to anybody for a stay in the Lakes, good location handy for the main routes through the Lakes (Road,Rail,Bus) but walkable into Windermere village for pubs & restuarants

Very friendly and the breakfast choice was excellent. Location was central for Windermere and Ambleside. Easy to find as on main Road.Tea or coffee with a piece of cake was offered on our arrival which was a nice touch. Although the four poster bedroom was fine the ensuite bathroom to the room we were in was the smallest I have ever been in. Could of also done with a refit. Not suitable for those with mobility problems due to high bath with the shower over it. The bathroom to the twin bedroom we also had for our teenage daughters was much better.

“The people were very welcoming and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast each morning and were very comfortable in our room. The small bar was also very nice and we had a lovely chat with the owners. The hotel was very quiet and relaxing. I especially enjoyed a relaxing swim in the pool all by myself. Car parking was no problem at all and it was a lovely walk down into Bowness (only 1 mile) where we took a boat trip to Ambleside.” Eileen, Ashington |
