The bedroom was ok as was room service The restaurant menu was poor causing me to walk out. It only offered a 3 course for £25 option with a very limited and unappealing choice of dishes.

The room was clean and well presented , great views of the river Bar was unstuffy and friendly .as a single woman traveller I felt comfotable and was made welcome. The food was average - I had lamb shank which was bland the breakfast again was average , the ingredients were not of the highest quality, cheap sausage the restaurant was very old fashioned and deathly quiet with very little atmosphere - it needed a re fresh. so I went downstairs to the bar and ate there. my tv gave up the ghost , but noone was available to fix it for me , which was not great

The location is very good for accessing the city and lake land. The fact that they advertised wifi but their wifi was down 5 days before we go there and we had not been notified. I needed wifi and that's why I chose this hotel. However, I ended up having to ask a friend to post me my mobile dongle on special delivery to use the internet. The room was very cold and there was huge wind coming through the windows as they were rather old. I had to use a couple of blankets to cover the window to keep the room slightly warmer. Because of this we needed extra blanket and when I asked for it from reception I was told that there are only 1 extra blanket available per room and they may not be able to give us an extra blanket. However, they brought a small throw rather than a blanket after I asked them twice again.

Stayed one night for our Anniversary. Lovely, lovely hotel. Could not find an major fault. Staff were very friendly and even let us book in slightly earlier than the stated 3pm. Plenty of parking (you need a token to get your car out). The hotel spa facilities looked great although sadly didn't have time to make use of them. Next time maybe. Breakfast was a hot and cold buffet, not to everyones liking but food was always fresh. Near enough to walk into Kendal town but being alongside the River gives it a country feel. People have commented on the warmth of the room. You can switch the heating off!!!! The peace at night mean't I could also open the window.

Access to leisure club and helpful sports\health staff. Location by river and town centre. Parking. Self-help breakfast bar with commercial brand food produce and background audio. Rooms were all non-smoking so couldn't make out that characteristic smell pervading the corridors. A clearer distinction between this hotel and the "riverside apartments"

Good location close to Kendal town and all rooms have a view of the river Kent. Reasonable rates and good value. Have visited previously and will likely stay again as it is convenient. Rather bland breakfast and appeard few staff. The bar shared its staff with reception, that was a long wait at times.

Staff were friendly, the food was good, the rooms were comfortable and very clean. It is only a short walk to the shops but it is still situated in a quiet area. All in all a great hotel in a very good location. There is a car park and I always managed to get a space, but beware the spaces are very tight.

“The hotel staff were its best asset. From the moment we arrived every single member of staff went the extra mile to help. We have stayed in many 5 star hotels but none of them would come close to the standard of service given by the staff. I broke a bone in my wrist whilst in Kendal and the staff did everything possible to make the rest of our stay as comfortable as possible. We will definitely be visiting again soon. ” Stewart, Norwich |
