The food was very appetising presented well, service was excellent. The location of the hotel next to shops and bars but quiet also. Not far to travel into the countryside, also near Windermere and Keswick. Would have been nice to see the otters but maybe next time, they must have known they were being filmed. Pool and the facilities looked great even though we did not use them. Bedroom was very spacious and beds comfortable, nice to verlook the river. Bar was nice and service good, nice to relax in after a long day.

Stayed one night for our Anniversary. Lovely, lovely hotel. Could not find an major fault. Staff were very friendly and even let us book in slightly earlier than the stated 3pm. Plenty of parking (you need a token to get your car out). The hotel spa facilities looked great although sadly didn't have time to make use of them. Next time maybe. Breakfast was a hot and cold buffet, not to everyones liking but food was always fresh. Near enough to walk into Kendal town but being alongside the River gives it a country feel. People have commented on the warmth of the room. You can switch the heating off!!!! The peace at night mean't I could also open the window.

Our stay at The Riverside was a "stop over" only as we headed up to Scotland and our primary reason was selecting The Riverside was location - and we were not dsappointed. The location was excellent. Easy access to the shopping centre, the castle ruins, river walk and importantly for us Oxenholme rail station. We also appreciated having a bar and food on-site. The food in the Tannery Bar was excellent pub food. The only drawback was the size and design of the bathroom. We stayed in room 5 and on using the shower over the bath the floor of the bathroom got a little wet. This would not stop us from choosing The Riverside again - just be prepared for it.

When we complained about our room the receptionist reacted very quickly. Finding dirty sanitary towels in our room on arrival was not very welcoming. Even when we were moved to another room there was still rubbish in a bin and the bath was dirty.

Very good location as close to the town centre. Beautiful place, directly at the river. Good facilities (even though not used), friendly staff The shower screen needed a seal, so bathroom got (at first) slightly flooded. Adjustment of the shower head, prevented a recurrence.

We arrived to a good northern welcome and quickly booked in. All the staff we encountered were all pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed the meals we had at the hotel and it is conveniently situated for the station and a short walk into the town

Interior was clean and simple, excellent desk staff. Room modern and all working Local secure parking Great breakfast! Outside of hotel was littered by smokers just outside reception doors and a skip was full of old beds and rubbish. Gave a weak impression leaving the car park to walk to the reception along the street. I did really think we had booked the wrong hotel and things would be the same 'performance' inside.

I was happy with practically all aspects of my stay, and thought the hotel very good value for the money I paid. Two very minor gripes; the car park needs a more prominent sign, and the leisure club did not cope well with a sudden influx of people, as the showers ran cold, and there was little room to change.

Position as in town centre. Comfort and facilities in hotel and room. Friendly staff. Bath towels a bit small and the duvets on the beds only covered the top of the bed, so when two are in the bed, the duvet does not cover you very well.

“It was friendly, well run. relaxing and we had a lovely stay. The food was excellent both in the menu choice, presentation and price. I enjoyed the swimming pool. We both liked the relaxing view from our bedroom. The room was very comfortable. We both said we would stay there again and have no hesitation in recommending the hotel.” Jean, Locks Heath |
