The Riverside  

We stayed in the suite which cost a little extra but the extra space was nice and the views from our room were great. The room was well decorated in a modern style and the bathroom and shower was nice. The location of the hotel was very good as it was handy to get to the train station, bars and various restaurants.

The overall cleanliness wasn't up to scratch. All the walls were dirty leading up the stairs, the hotel doors were very heavy to move. There was always a mess at breakfast time on all the tables as none of the staff were keeping on top on keeping them tidy but there didn't seem to be enough staff working.

Location, cleanliness, great having an indoor swimming pool, breakfast was great!!

Not easy getting a pushchair from the room to the exit/restaurant but I appreciate this is to do with the age of the building. We stayed for two days but our room was not made up and replenished after the first day.

I liked the cleanliness and the staff were polite and friendly. The breakfast was nice and the hotel had a good atmosphere. The spa facilities were small but adequate and very clean. I found the hotel was great value for money.

The heating was far too hot, it made sleeping difficult, the pillows were hard also. I found the cleaning staff were little unfriendly but you could see they worked hard.

It was within easy walking distance of the railway station, the staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were comfortable and had a view of the river. It was an easy walk into the town centre to reach the shops and there were easy to reach walks along the riverside.

I couldn't stay longer.

The staff were friendly and helpfull.there is plenty of free parking on site handy for town centre.

Room could have been cleaner there were dirty marks near the waste bin and the toilet could have been cleaner.

I am sure my bill was accurate. But it would be better if when ordering food and bar items on your room no. you signed for the items then and there and could check against them on checking out in the morning.

Location was excellent with lovely riverside views. Room was clean and well kept, bed was large and very comfortable. Friendly staff at reception and in restaurant/bar. Free parking. All round a very nice hotel.

Could do with a little paint in some parts, like the restaurant windows!

We had a suite which was great and the central location was a bonus for all facilities yet in a lovely spot next to river. Would definitely stay there again was very relaxing.

Location was good, rooms were a fairsize, charlie was lovely, very friendly.

Room could have been cleaner, no phone in room for four of the five nights we were there. plug in bath didn't work. Dogs on floor above howling and barking. Room service breakfast was cold.

Our room was lovely and spacious with a good view of the river and town. It was a short walk to the facilities of Kendal and the staff were vrey helpful.

Unfortunately access to our room involved steps even using the lift which was a problem for my husband. A hand grab rail at the side of the bath would have been helpful.

Beautiful setting and comfortable stay. The staff were pleasant and breakfast was served by a lovely girl who was sweet and very good mannered. I look forward to possibly staying again in the summer for a few days.

Beautiful setting and very convenient as only 2 minutes walk over the bridge into the town.

Lovely restaurant overlooking the river but only did table d'hote menu. Why not a la carte ?

This was my first visit to Kendal and I liked everything about the Riverside. The staff were friendly, informative and eager to help. The waitress Romana was delightful and made our visit feel special. I would certainly come back again and recommend it.

Decor tired in places. Bar lounge is rather a souless place that does not feel very comfortable as a place to sit and relax.

The staff were extremely helpful, and no request were too much. The view out over the river was lovely and the balcony from the bar is very nice to sit out on and have a drink. It is a nice short walk from the train station and to the town centre.

Location (short walk to Kendal town centre and the castle). Staff helpful and knowledgable. Room was clean, classic decor with modern appointments (flat screen tv and great bathroom).

Corridors a bit gloomy and could have smelled fresher. Phone in room barely worked (405).
