We stayed one night at the Roebuck and found it to be very nice, comfortable, clean and the staff were pleasant and helpful. The menu looked good and reasonably priced, although we only ate breakfast and it was very nice. We thought it was very good value especially as it included the breakfast.

My Aunt and I found it very comfortable and felt it suited the over 55'S. The service and friendliness of the staff was very reassuring. It was an ideal location for attending the Antique Fair at Ardingly and Auctions at Lewes. It was a very relaxing stay in the heart of the Forest and Countryside.

We were made to feel so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. We could relax where we wanted, when we wanted. There was an extensive menu available most hours of the day and evening. They welcomed our dog, Pollyanna, in a big way!! - that means a lot to us!! The room was lovely - very clean and comfortable. The price was right! The location was excellent - so much lovely countryside in the area. Good parking.

Large, comfortable, well-equipped and very quiet room. Location for our purposes was excellent (very near Brooklands Nursing Home) It could do with a spruce-up; neither the curtains nor the nets in our room were properly hung and it made the room look less nice than it was. Breakfast was poor. At 9.00 (it finished at 9.30) there was just a tray of barely warm hot food (I don't think this would have passed the heating tests doen on ready-cooked food) and choice was very limited compared with the list in the room! Two croissants only, just grapes or sliced oranges, etc.

initially, its location and reviews. Having stayed there I would recommend it very highly. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, and very comfortable....the dogs bed was even made for him! Breakfast was plentiful and very tasty, as was our evening meal. The TV was brilliant, as I am hard of hearing, and use subtitles, but these are rarely available when we stay in accomodation. It was a rare treat to be able to enjoy a programme away from home!

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent (except for the coffee) and the evening menus were very fairly priced and offered a good choice. The coffee at breakfast was awful. It would be worth offering a decent ground coffee for the price charged for the stay.

Relaxed friendly atmosphere. The bed was really comfortable. When English is not the first language for hotel staff then sometimes requests can be confused - however the hotel staff kept smiling throughout - well done!

Very comfortable food good and staff very helpfull. Shame about the WiFi which in the public area's was fine. I think was because of the location relevant to the router it didn't work in my room.

The staff were professional and friendly, never over bearing but exactly what is needed to make you feel you are staying at a "home from home" establishment. The food was excellent. The room was very well presented, clean, spacious and modernistic - big, big TV considering the price and size of room. I travel a lot and it is the best Hotel I have stayed in for 18 months by a long margin. I am looking for reasons to travel on business in this location again as I want to stay at The Roebuck. They even lent me a charger for my blackberry. Excellent. They did everything right. Thank You.

I remark from a value for money aspect, so having paid under £45.00 per night, including breakfast, I believe it was excellent value for money, I would rate it at around £65.00 per night, including breakfast. It was under new management (5 weeks ago) so could well improve over time and be worth more. Wouldn't want to pay more until decor and facilities improve, but in comparison to stays at other places, we were very happy. To be fair, it has just been taken over (Jan 2012), so things may improve. The Wi-Fi was terrible, don't rely on it being useful, also many internet dongles don't work either, so be careful if you, like me, needed an internet connection. Most staff were foreign, everything we said had to be repeated and even then we were not always understood. If I'm in England, the least I expect is to able to converse properly with someone that speaks English properly.

You're in the country (Ashdown Forest), yet near enough to small towns. And half an hour from Brighton. Good tv in room; fairly quiet considering there was an Xmas party going on when we arrived. Full English breakfast very good. Coffee good as well. Staff very helpful. Don't arrive after 11.30 in evening, you could be locked out as they have no night porter! Hotel could do with a bit of a refurb - it looks a bit worn in places.
