The Restaurant was good and the staff excellent , friendly atmosphere & a good nights sleep
Our superior room was already occupied but were still given the key to go in. Our replacement was not as nice as the original. Reception did not know the room was occupied.& were looking into it but was never given an explanation.
Friendly atmosphere, character of building and the location suited us.
On arrival we were told that our room was above the function room where there was a wedding party. Was told to expect noise until at least midnight. This was not good as the whole point of staying at the hotel was to get a good nights sleep before taking part in the Spartan Beast endurance race (only about a mile away from the Hotel) early the next morning! We booked at full price, weeks in advance so thought it was bad for us to be given what must have been one of the worst rooms.
Arrived to find nobody on reception and there was another couple waiting as well but that did not mar from an otherwise lovely time and staff were polite etc
All the staff were extremely friendly and professional. Exceptional clean room and very comfortable bed, slept like a log. . Reasonably priced food either in the dining room or in the bar, service was prompt and food was tasty. Breakfast has a varied choices and fresh! Although a busy road outside it didn't affect the hotel inside, its bedrooms are very quiet. Well done Roebuck from one very happy couple.
Excellent food Excellent service Excellent beer!
friendly, welcome reception, oldie world environment but well furnished, large dining area, breakfast had superb choices, something for everyone. room very quiet at rear with lovely view of gardens. excellent!!!
a litle bit further out of East Grinstead than we thought originally but very easy to find on main road.
Room with a lovely garden view. Nice atmosphere in bar. Good mannered friendly staff
No net curtains on window as wedding guests outside could see right into our room and we had to draw curtains in daylight
The Roebuck team The beds The food and bar The sight and cozy old english hotel
A wedding the day we arrived. Wanted to sleep and had music so loud the bed was vibrating. But in total honesty the music stoped at 23h00, which is quite early for a wedding.
Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff.
The room smelt damp.
good food polite staff good size rooms onsite parking
Promised free wi-fi - no wi-fi or phone network. Dirty net curtains
Extremely helpful and friendly staff and immaculate room. Our room looked out onto the gardens which were beautifully maintained. The breakfast was fantastic! Great choice of cereals, fruits and pastries and a good quality cooked breakfast. Excellent for the money.
All staff were very friendly and helpful. Meals were good value
Parking, easy access, good hot water system, tea making facility, bedroom not overlooked, good Tv set
Old fashioned bedroom door key, long walk through narrow passages to bedroom,
olde worldy style of the hotel, staff very helpful and pleasant.
food could have been a lot better in presentation, and there could have been a greater choice of beers.
Proximity to lovely gardens and other tourist attractions.
Property was in need of TLC,some redecoration, new shower fittings, carpets. Disappointed with the hotel, but staff did their best.
Very clean hotel and helpful staff. Definitely stay there again
Nice place, quiet and restful.
Breakfast service quite mediocre. Some personel not very nice.
Easy to find and great to have on-site pub so you don't have to go out to eat. The WIFI was strong and we didn't have any issues. Very quiet and relaxing sleep.
Although a great place, it is rather dated and the furnishings need some refresh in the rooms, i.e carpet bathroom, etc.
Ground floor room 17th century Inn but very much 21st century facilities. Well cooked Dinner with good choice menu.
Would have liked some fresh air at night, Double Glazing did not permit.
Very Pleasent Restaurant and Patio. Extremely comfortable bed. Lovely nights sleep.
Food. Staff. Bedroom. Public Area's. Ample Parking Etc
Not staying longer
Oldie worldie sort of place Nice
The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was delicious, the bedroom was spacious and comfortable, and there was a large overflow car park so there was no trouble finding a space on a Saturday evening.
It was rather a long way to our room up several small flights of stairs and through a few awkward doors. Also there were no walks that we could find that we could take directly from the hotel, but with the car one could enjoy the lovely countryside nearby.
Fantastic, charming, atentive staff for whom nothing was ever too much trouble. Excellent food. All round a great hotel
