The staff as ever were excellent this was our fourth trip using the Roebuck as our overnight accommodation and it is good to see the old place getting a facelift as it was looking very shabby on the outside belying the Gem inside.

Whats not to like?

Excellent location. Very comfortable, clean rooms over-looking the gardens. Great service and good choice of food.

Good Location, Very comfortable, Nice relaxing Lounge areas, Bar and Restaurant very nice, staff friendly, a good choice of good value meals available, breakfast was very nice.Bed and bedding very comfortable and good supply of hot water.

There was a strange smell on the stairs from the main building to the rear bedroom block, and thick dust on the ledges to the right of the stairs as you wlked down.

The Roebuck Hotel is a very efficient hotel. Staff are on hand for any questions or help that you may require. Food was very well presented with a menu to please all tastes. The Roebuck is very well located, with very comfortable surroundings.

Friendly, very good food,clean and cosy. The relaxed feel made you think you'd been there for ages. Room was good size.

A small down side when we turned up there where repairs going on. But once inside there was no noise or problems. Also the bar shut prompt, and lights turned down.

We enjoyed the whole experience really so much so we have rebooked! The staff are so good and helpful, it was a lovely day so we sat in the gardens with a glass of wine with was wonderful, and I can really recommend this hotel to other travellers.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel was cosy without being pretentious and the food was very good. The lounge areas were very comfortable in a typically English-country-pub way. Our dog was made very welcome and well catered for; it was great to be able to have home with us. Our rooms were comfortable and warm with spotless linen. We would certainly go back.

We stayed in a superior room but there was only one comfortable chair to sit on to relax. No free daily newspapers supplied for guests to read.

we have stayed here a few times and its really enjoyable, the staff are great. Late for breakfast no probs, nothing is a problem for them.

Whilst only there overnight I found this hotel welcoming, friendly, clean and very very good value for money. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the area

Quick and easy check in and out. Service for food and drinks very good. Comfortable lounge area. Bedroom clean and comfortable.

The guy on reception was excellent, the breakfast waitress was fine. The facilities were good although closed to early. Excellent Parking too.

The barman and the waitress were rude and ignorant. We ordered food at 8.30 some 30 mins before last orders, but the staff were clunking round us setting out breakfast, then as soon as we'd finished eating, we were asked to move! The bar closed prompt and I missed a nightcap which I like. Poor all round really.

The welcome we received even though we were early; the room was very comfortable and warm and very clean (cleaned each day). The breakfast choice was excellent as was all other meal times. Overall a very nice hotel and we will go back.

The staff were extremely welcoming, warm and attentive yet not obtrusive. Dave the Manager in particular was superb.. On reception, bar , breakfast on the Sunday...always welcoming and a consummate. Professional .

Good location in Ashdown Forest, easy to find, ample parking, competitively priced. Comfortable rooms in modern annex.

After reading many reviews on here, I wasn't sure what to expect. I usually expect the worse. But I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were on par with an average Travelodge. Actually better than- You get tea making facilities here, unlike Travelodge. The room was clean and modern enough. It’s a pub hotel after all, not a 5 star hotel. My only niggle with the room was- The shower head must have been installed by a dwarf. I'm 6' and had to crouch to wash my hair. As I said it is a niggle. Bathroom was clean. Bed was comfy. As for Wi-Fi- well like many places, it now uses the cursed "Cloud" internet access. Which blocks any words it doesn’t like. The restaurant in the evening is situated next to the bar, you can eat in the bar if you so wish. As a previous review stated. It does seem to be microwave style food. Like many pub chains nowadays. But it filled a hole in my little stomach. Breakfast was good enough, choice of cooked and, or cold things. Service was always quick and polite. Parking was directly outside the pub; road noise didn’t bother me in the room at all. So all in all The Roebuck exceeded expectations, for that it should be commended! I will stay again no doubt.
