I spend most of the day out on business and only back to the hotel after dinner. Nothing fancy about the hotel, but the room was spacious for one with a single bed and bathroom was kept and maintained to a very high standard. The hotel was quiet throughout my stay and the staff at the front desk were really friendly. The manager who is extremely helpful upgraded me to a double bedroom for my next stay. Most of the town's restaurants and eat outs are located within a walking distance from hotel if you decide not to eat at the hotel. I recommend it for business travellers who are keen to stay at a quiet and comfortable hotel with friendly staff.

It was convienient for the seminar in the hotel. The bed was comfortable the room warm and clean . But as a cooked breakfast was extra I was a bit dissapointed. The room was tired ,toilet seat broken ( a big no,no) , curtains would not stay closed , so I had to use a chair to clamp them closed , particulary as the road was approx 10 ft away. The shower head was absolutely disgusting (Room 10).

The bed and television were both good, Staff were friendly and courteous. The bathroom was looking very tired. The toilet seat was falling off the toilet as it was not attached! The toilet roll holder was poorly placed meaning you had to sit at an angle or have it dig you in the ribs. Breakfast was kindly made complimentary as my partner was unable to join me at the hotel. However, the full english breakfast was quite dire with baked beans dry, mushroom under cooked and tomatoes looking quite green. I ordered scrambled egg on toast the second morning; the toast was burnt and the eggs very dry and hard.

The location is perfect as within walking distance of relatives that I came to see. As a single female I would have preferred (and will ask for in future) a room not on the ground floor. The room was extremely hot and it took me sometime to work out how the thermostat would turn off. In fact I thought I had turned it off before I went out at 6pm only to return to find it had not been turned off. I was very reluctant to open the window at midnight despite the secondary glazing arrangment and after 2 hours of disturbed sleep through worrying about the open window on the ground floor, I got up and shut it. I think considering it was the first weekend in January the price of £69 without breakfast was steep

We had stayed there previously, but had not realised this time that the Elevator was non existent. I have a heart problem and being on the second floor was not pleasant. In future when I book and I do not get the ground floor I would look to book elsewhere. I found it difficult to request a change as I do not like to do so, otherwise all else was excellent.

Whilst the location was good the hotel itself is extremely out of date. The bathroom was hideous and there were cobwebs in the room and strange stains on the furniture. For £70 excluding breakfast this was overpriced and substandard.

It was available for the function we attended at the Hotel in the evening, However most plces we stay at, where the function is held, give us discounted rates for the night. The Roebuck did not offer any discounted rate. However most places we stay at, where the function is held, give us discounted rates for the night. The Roebuck did not offer any discounted rate. Why do you not offer breakfast with the online booking so that payment can be taken on line?

Booked The Roebuck, for the 3rd december, due to it's location and distance to Ware town centre (5 minute walk) as we were visiting family. We didn't spend much time at the hotel but.. Room and bathroom was very clean, bed was comfortable, room spacious. Plenty of tea/coffee in the room. Ordered a sandwich from the all day bar menu which was lovely and reasonably priced. Bar prices were also very reasonable. Staff were very nice and polite. Hotel is quiet at night despite being near a main road and having a function on. The knob to turn the shower on/off was very stiff, had to get my partner to do it. No iron in the room but asked at reception and they bought one to our room straightaway. Room was very warm but was easily rectified by turning the radiator down. We looked at the Roebuck on booking.com on tuesday and the price was £80.10 by the friday night when we booked it, it had gone up to £99 for a double room on a room only basis. I think this price is too high for what is basically a bed for the nght, my partner wasn't impressed and said he'd rather stay a little further out and pay less. However if they offered breakfast in with the room we would definately consider staying again due to the location. You can order breakfast, but would have cost £20 so we walked in to the town and found a lovely cafe for half the price. Couldn't book in till 2pm and had to be out by 11am.

Location As we were with several family guests we had the chance to see several rooms and all needed little things done to smarten them up. Wall paper peeling, chipped paint, tiles needing grouting, Nothing too big that an inhouse maintenance man could not do. This would make the hotel a1

I have experienced the Roebuck for a wedding as a guest and attending Xmas parties - those eventa have always been very good, so when we needed to find a hotel for a Wedding we decided to stay. The room was very clean and warm - the bed very comfy. Nice to have tea and Coffee facilities - have travelled on many European City breaks this year, and none provide this, so appreciated it. We asked for a drink on our return after our return and the Bar man was very friendly and heplful Felt the room was tired and the bathroom just a little shabby (room 203). Based on this, Im not sure if I would recommend. If the price included breakfast, I think that would make a difference rather than an extra cost?

“The location was good - for us, reception fine, the room had every amenity we required and was very comfortable, all good value for the (reasonable) price we paid. The (apparently inexpensive) menu made us wish we had no dining commitment for the evening and the bar itself was pleasant. The breakfast was excellent.Throughout the staff were friendly and helpful. We would not hesitate to stay again.” Ed, Bristol |

“We arrived after 9pm and were welcomed by the excellent front desk staff - both the guys were extremely pleasant and gave great customer service, but all of the hotel staff we came across were excellent . The size of the room was a great surprise - far bigger than many high end hotels 'superior' rooms.. It was warm and comfortable with a huge bed and plenty of tea/coffee/milk. Breakfast was very good with a wide selection of food and quick service. The hotel was quiet, in a convenient location to where we were going and excellent value for money.” Patricia, Driffield |
