Fabulous,
Score from 70 reviews
“ The ambience is superb. Like travelling back in time to a bygone age. Attentive but discreet service from the staff. Great in-room breakfast and the room was very comfortable. Met Lady Grey ( the hotel feline), she was gorgeous too, serene and elegant, just like the hotel! ”

Second stay here and superb. Staff are helpful yet unobtrusive and the hotel is quiet yet a few steps from the bustle of London. Highly recommended; a touch of quality one tube stop from Kings Cross making The Rookery a great base particularly for couples...

Location and individual interior design Rooms felt too traditional, they kept old fashioned in place of historical reference

The room was fantastic, we had a Superior room but I am sure that are all wonderful. Service was very personal and the location perfect for local tourism and night out The hotel would benefit from a restaurant, even only for breakfast and light meals

Loved the 18th-century look, with a 21st-century ambience. It was all so cosy and warm, helped by the all the festive decorations, while my room - with its big deep bath - was very comfortable, tucked away in the eaves. Oh, and the lovely cat! The fact that the staff wouldn't let me steal the lovely cat!

Tremendous sense of history- a small and friendly hotel with a feel of luxury- interesting and individual. Good location. I enjoyed the breakfasts but it was a tad uncomfortable in terms of sitting at the table in the bedroom

the location is fantastic and the decoration is very well considered victorian period luxury other than a couple of the staff who were warm and pleasant the vast majority were a combination of cold, disdainful, haughty and unhelpful. most upsetting in a hotel of this quality and I've stayed at a great many so can judge with clarity.

The service offered for our first night hotel before our honeymoon was fantastic. My requests to check in early and to leave bags with the hotel on the day of our wedding were very simply accommodated with no fuss. The room was perfect and breakfast in the morning fantastic. Though it is good breakfast is a bit pricey. If I were staying there a few nights I'd be more likely to go for Brunch at Smith's of Smithfield and other places rather than eat at the hotel.

Very pleasing decor which reflected the great age of the building. Very convenient for the Farringdon tube and train., And the Olympics. Plenty of fascinating local information provided. Delicious breakfast delivered to my room Friendly helpful staff The bedding was far to hot for a summer evening- lighter weight duvets would be better for high summer. Cosy for winter though!

Entering The Rookery from an inner London pavement was like stepping back a century in time. From the attitude of the staff to the excellent decor of the hotel to the large comfortable bedroom this hotel had everything. A superb hotel with every facility for a comfortable stay with huge emphasis on a very relaxing ambiance for central London.

It was quiet. The patio was extremely relaxing. The staff wa remarkably accommodating. There were some problems with the commode tank but the staff were responsive. We slept quite well in the most comfortable bed we've ever had in a hotel. We both very much want to return to the Rookery in the Spring. It was probably our most enjoyable visit to London in about fifteen in the last fifteen years. The only hotel that came close was 41 London Hotel on Buckingham Road. I simply cannot say enough good things. I can think of nothing negative.

Location was perfect and staff were absolutely lovely. The honesty bar and the hotel cat were highlights. The room could do with better lighting and it was quite hot so air conditioning unit would have been appreciated.

Great boutique hotel in a 200 year old building. Great rooms and an extremely helpful and friendly staff. The only rough part was parking. There is a car park about a 5 minute walk away. With the hotel's discount, not too bad. Parking on the street is free (if you can find a space) from 6 pm or so until 8:30 am the next morning.
