Excellent location, Lovely view over the Wye valley, friendly staff, nice town within easy walking distance, good quality sausage with breakfast. Room 16 definitely in need of a bit of TLC (shower door broken, tatty furniture, smelt a bit of smoke, broken tiles in bathroom)

very friendly young staff couldn't do enough for us. The food was good and always hot, the porridge was particularly delicious. Also the hotel was so quiet and private could not knock it. Geri - Atherton, Manchester bathroom

Nothing The hotel was filthy, stuff running down bathroom walls, room not vacuumed, dirty windows, carpet coming away from edges, big black stains in bath, vile dirty fabric shower curtain and a dirty kettle. Crumbs from other people's dinner the previous night on our breakfast table, stained cups, lots of stairs and no lift (we were not asked when booking if stairs were a problem). When we said our room was not clean we were told the hotel was to be refurbed. Ladies toilets in reception stank. The whole experience was unpleasant, pictures of the hotel on website are not true reflection of the place. Room no 25 stank, even with both windows fully open for the 36 hours we were there. We were told this was due to the ceiling having been painted, ceiling had not been painted.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast - large variety. Spectaclar view from our room. Comfortable clean bed. We stayed in a superior room which we didn't class as superior. Room and bathroom deperately need refurbs! The top of our wardrobe was in need of a dust - Covered our bags in dust when we stored them there. Couldn't park in car park on arrival.

The view is the best in Ross. The room bared zero relevance to the one on the description or photo so beware when booking a superior room. The service was slow and surly and there is zero training. There were many things not available on the menu and presentation of food was awful. I could go on.....

The Hotel outlook, checking in was straight forward, & peaceful. The hotel bar service very poor, creaking floor boards in bedroom, no lift.. & being told on checking out that there was a bill for food & drink to settle, even when we had not eaten in the hotel, very puzzling.

our experience with the staff was excellant very friendly and courtious and helpfull when we booked on line we were shown a nice spacious room in the add and this was what we based our decision to book on but it was not what we were given it was very disapointing having travelled all the way from AUSTRALIAand get a dingey little room with towel rails falling off toilet which was hard to flush doorlocks which lock you in your room making it totally unsafe to be in if there was a fire all this was brought to the notice of management but we were not offered anything better we would have been within our right to request the room which was shown in the promotion presented to us on line

Good location. Very friendly young staff literally keep this ponderous old-fashioned hotel alive. The building is tired and seriously in need of refurbishment. Some repairs should not wait - for example, the steps up from the car park are dangerous and need more than the patching they have received.

Friendly professional staff - excellent breakfast - good level of cleanliness - good value for money This hotel takes the concept of 'shabby chic' to a whole new level - it desperately requires a complete redecoration

Onsite parking. Firstly the room position, up 25 steps, down 12 steps and through 4 doors and small hallways just to get to room. Hotel is old and run down, desperately needs upgrade, plaster falling of walls, cracked walls, carpets torn, place appears unsafe.

Well priced, spacious rooms, comfortable firm bed with excellent views. Excellent food, friendly helpful staff, reasonable selection of single malts to enjoy whilst watching the sun set over the hills from the terrace. Good breakfast in the morning, served quickly, really good runny egg and bacon! Rooms could do with a lick of paint here and there, no elevator due to their listed building status.

The position overlooking the river and in a town. The restaurant had a good choice of meals at very reasonable prices. Hopefully the internet problem is temporary (throughout the chain) as since they have changed provider some rooms do not have WIfi. The absence of a lift is a little unfortunate.
