Room was nice
This is a traditional hotel with the convenience of being situated virtually attached to the train station. Welcoming and very clean with lovely attentive staff.
Great value for money. Very comfortable bed. Staff are amazing, can't do enough for you. 30 second walk to the shops.
Twin room was a bit on the small side.
Location ,food, staff
Would have liked a bath but will specify if staying again
Noise at night and trains leaving at 6 in the morning
Location. Staff. Atmosphere.
Pillows a bit hard.
Was not advised that we had to book a table in the restaurant. However, we were able to eat at the bar!
The lobby and main areas were nice. The location is very good. The price was perfect at 60lbs.
The rooms and non lobby areas were definitely in need of renovation. A little rough around the edges.
Location excellent. Welcoming and helpful staff. Very comfortable bed, room cosy and warm. Did not have breakfast so unable to comment.
The hotel was in a great location and very clean ,
No hair dryer , breakfast was almost cold , I would have expected at least a good breakfast for 144.00 per night, Some of the staff struggled to understand our accent (Scottish) We had a meal in the restaurant at night , the Guinness battered haddock was very bland , nothing that I would recommend to any friends , We were lucky and got a parking space out side the hotel ,
Didn't like anything about this hotel at all, was very rundown and dirty!
Same as above didn't like anything, there was dampness in the room, temperature control didn't work in shower and radiator, ate at the restaurant in evening and got food poisoning and so did my partner
The comfort and elegance of the Royal Highland Hotel, coupled with an unrivalled central position. Close to Eastgate shopping centre, Railway Station and all other amenities. Good food and attentive staff.
We stay at the Royal Highland everytime we come to Invernes and have no complaints.
Bedroom was warm but small Tea/coffee & biscuits Television
Bathroom floor was cold under foot Framed pictures were on tiled wall Cold water tap in bath leaked Bath mat was too small and slipped Shower fitment was loose Bed uncomfortable & pillows hard Far too much lighting in bedroom and huge wall picture with light above it was unnecessary as were the other framed dull pictures Bedroom carpet was filthy Tv should be on the wall as stopped curtain from shutting Room too small Parking outside is limited & overnight parking is too far away and costly
Close to the bus and train station Mall nearby so you can re-stock easily Lots to see nearby, distilleries, castles, Loch Ness
The Wi-Fi is free for a paltry 40 minutes per day
handy as right next to station, great bar staff and excellent service, the reception not so much! The rooms are basic and slightly dated! But clean and comfy
Unfortuently I got a very unhelpful receptionist upon check out, who after eventually getting off the phone, all but refused to take cash and insisted it would be easier to put it on my card? What happened to customer service?! The other staff seemed lovely, I clearly just got unlucky!!
Central location Good atmosphere Good food Good facilities
The bath and shower
Room 117 was small and noisy; the room was not ready @ 3 pm and the cleaner was still working in the room when I went in; the room was clean but very small; the tv did not work & I was given room 118 but had already unpacked; I had to park in the high rise car park and later was able to park outside the hotel having paid £4.50
Stayed in room 107 and is above the taxi rank and was very noisy both nights till 04.30. The only solution would be double glazing. Obviously not a lot the hotel can do.
Staff were very helpful, room was small but cosy, food was good.
Best breakfast I've ever had in a hotel and i use a lot of hotels in uk and round the world
Meal in Ash Restaurant was poor. Made me ashamed to be a highlander!
Cleanliness, good bathroom facilities, very friendly staff.
This hotel was obviously beautiful in its hey-day, but sadly, once you step beyond the front entrance and foyer, its been a long time since. The bed was rock hard, the pillow was paper thin, and the lamp fizzed like it was about to go pop. The bathroom was clean and well appointed, (including curtains) but just to the right, the paint was peeling off. And at about 5am, there was a deafening noise from a water tank somewhere (sounded like it was in our room) every time it seemed anyone in the building flushed the toilet. You couldnt sleep through it. Breakfast seems to have suffered from too many years catering to the coach party market. Grey and greasy potato scones, which actually tasted ok, but looked grim. Half raw hash browns, and solid croissants you could wedge the wobbly leg of a table with. The saddest bit of all was the coffee. There were plenty of waiters and waitresses floating around, and they offer kippers made to order, and yet, you have to get a cup of purest "brown" from the type of push button coffee machine you get in the waiting room of a kwikfit. A travesty. Didnt seem to matter which button you pressed, it never improved, and the cups were so small youd need 4 to quench any thirst. And for £9.95 each for breakfast, a bit overpriced. All very disappointing when the hotel has obviously been quite a place in the past. My advice to the hotel? Do it up, get proper coffee. My advice for travellers? If you need to be right in the centre of inverness, and youre planning to be out a lot, go for it. Theres a few free parkjng spaces out the front which is perfect if youre xmas shopping, but theyre hard fought for.
Position at station
I hated the fact that when I was taking a shower the water didn't drain, so I had to stand in ankle deep water to shower. Person at reception wasn't exactly helpful after giving the feedback. I think it's unacceptable to have such poor drainage and sell the room, absolutely terrible.
The location, Ease at the end of a train journey. Taxi rank outside, Next door to the Eastgate shopping Centre, opposite the Victorian shopping Arcades, What is not to Like?
No extractor fan in the bathroom ( a very minor item)
