This family-run hotel is 800 metres from Inverness Rail Station and the shops of the city centre. It has free parking, free Wi-Fi, a bar and a restaurant serving modern Scottish cuisine.
Score from 670 reviews Very good
The only "liked" was the location of the Hotel.
Not enough hot water pressure to shower.A very disappointing shower is no way to start a day...
Windows really need double glazing. The outside noise was very loud.
Comfy bed, good restaurant
Rattling window, dirty tv handset
Comfort , good location , kind and friendly staff .
Excellent food at breakfast time and the Ash restaurant also served excellent food in the evening. All staff friendly and helpful.
Breakfast room and bedrooms need air conditioning.
1. Staff were friendly. 2. Fantastically close to the rail station - literally next door! 3. Tea/coffee making facilities were generous, with snacks and 2 bottles of water.
1. Bedside lights didn't work, only light in room that worked was the overhead one, not ideal! 2. Lack of power points - none beside bed. 3. TV didn't have many channels. 4. Wifi wasn't free - I think at least a 30-minute free period should be allowed as I suspect it may not be particularly good quality.
The atmosphere is very nice. And the position is just near the railwaystation in the center of the town. Super for traintraveling!
The bar is not cosey, and it is cold there. The windows in the room are a bit difficult to handle. Further no remarks.
I like the history and position of the Hotel--love the decor and general feeling
The telephone in my room did not work and even after frequent requests the only offer was to use the reception desk phone .Very difficult for a private conversation
I liked the welcome .. the room and breakfast all excellent
Breakfast staff were so unbelievably friendly. Really welcoming for a lonely traveller!
1. Good outside decor. 2. Close proximity to the city centre and all of the facilities there. 3. Walking distance to collection points for our local attraction trip. 4. Dining Room supervisor very attentive on second day, pleasant greeting and discussed issues raised previous day with us the following day. 5. Afternoon tea very good value, at £15.00. 6. Good value for money offer if you dined in their own adjacent restaurant/pub room, 20% off all food. Second drink half price including bottles of wine.
1. Foyer smelt heavily of smoke as the smoking area was right on the dorrstep of the entrance area. 2. Staff at reception not very attentive at all, not particularly made to feel welcome, nothing else going on around but left waiting for Service by the two people within this area. 3. Hotel briefly described, but not the local area even though this is one of the satisfaction questionnaire questions. 4. Hotel carpets on landing ricked up, a H&S issue for any infirm person or requiring assistance. 5. Not informed (all other hotels, B&B stayed at have expalined this to us) of our room containing a disabled bathcroom, distressing on opening this room to find such items within. 6. The supposed assistance material for any disabled person within were not fully cleaned. 7. Vent within bathroom not working sufficiently, causing mould around the grouting of extreme numbers of tiles, window frames and alcove mouldy. 8. Tiles falling off wall behind toilet, loose toilet handle for flushing. 9. Windows not sound-proofed even though hotel next to Railway Station, caused two nights of extremely disturbed sleep, lack of to be honest. Trains are cleaned at night, but require engines to be running for electric/illumination requirements. 10. Staff very abrupt when wrong details were at the breakfast room reception area, this then became the customer's responsibility to go to reception to sort the issue. Details not up to date. 11. Breakfast servery self-service for all commodities, this is not in the brochure details. Extremely unprofessional especially with the number of europeans staying there. Only two choices of eggs available, even though this hotel is 3* rated! Teapots available but no small milk jugs. Staff not checking the hot/cold service areas for replensihment unless customers seeked them out and requested more items. 12.
Nice hotel foyer and central
Parking is a disgrace half a dozen spaces for 70 plus rooms. Breakfast was nice but staff were very grumpy and it takes the word help yourself to the extreme. Machine dispensed tea and coffee.
Staff not particularly welcoming, especially reception and bar staff.
Internet-facilities are way below one would expect of a hotel of this class. You have to pay for WiFi access. With the (payed) account you can only use WiFi one one device simultaneously. For worse is that the quality of the connection is very, very bad. Slow en constantly dropping.
I was given a room where after going up in the lift there were stairs so I needed help as I have a knee problem. Instead of helping me the young man on the desk chose to give me another room, where the tv didn't work, once again moved me to another room where it was freezing, the heating didn't work. I was offered another blanket by Samantha the manager of reservations, that wasn't going to help so I said I will go back to the other room so she helped me go back & swapped the TV's over (simple solution). She explained that the young man was only 18 which my reply was, it is the hospitality industry to which she agreed. When I was going out one morning I caught staff discussing a guests complaint about no hot water. Obviously not enough maintenance done. Too many things going wrong. They all need to lift their game.
The room was more like a suite, with period features.
Kettle had some burnt material inside on the bottom. Also the fish and chips had soggy batter. In addition, I think we were overcharged on check-out, although I should have asked for an itemised receipt.
Next door to station. And very close to town centre
Noisy bin collectors early on Saturday morning. Also the modern art on first floor foyer seemed out of character of the rest of the hotel
Front desk staff exceptionally friendly and helpful.
Nothing really caused me any concern.
It's in a great location.
The staff were off-hand and the rooms and restaurant are over-priced. Our booked "Classic" rooms turned out to be "Cozy" - which means Small. The wifi costs extra (yes really) and the deal, expensive enough to start with, turned out not to include breakfast. Also, I was called back to the restaurant after dinner because "there was a problem with my bill" - the problem being that the hotel can't put dinner on a guest's account, even when a room number is given, unless the credit card has been registered first - they didn't tell me this, and after all I booked by card! They have no clue about how to look after their paying guests. We stayed in better places at half the price. My advice: stay somewhere else!
people working there
Room was extremely hot when we went to bed .Sea Gulls woke us 0300
Breakfast was excellent as were the staff,
Breakfast milk not in a chiller, warm milk on cereal. The Ash restaurant was disappointing, the floor was dirty with lots of crumbs, we had 4 different waiters at our table, the staff also appeared to be having an argument at the bar, not loudly but still quite obvious, we chose to eat out on our second night.
Good for train travellers
No proper restaurant facilities in evening
location location location cloak/luggage room lift to upper floors old world charm
too expensive not enough value for the money endlessly long check in process overly crowded foyer (suggest separate group check-in spot) too many staff in restaurant food prices excessive no view
Convenient parking. Efficient and friendly waiters and reception staff
Bar staff in Ash Restuarant. Main courses tended to be overcooked.
Nice and central. Grand surroundings. Pleasant staff.
Rooms were hot - no form of air conditioning or even a fan (although to be fair we didn't ask for one).
