The Royal HighlandStation Square, 18 Academy Street, IV1 1LG Inverness (Show map) Good, Score from 318 reviews“A super City centre location. Warm welcome, efficient and extremely pleasant staff. Delicious breakfast with a huge choice of options to pick from. This hotel is a great place to stay if you are looking for a hotel right in the middle of the City, well located only yards from the station (no noise from trains). Would most definately stay here again. ”

Location Hotel billed me twice leaving me £280 out of pocket. I emailed to complain the day after checking out but I've had no reply. If hotel does not correct the error, I will go to the authorities, and would appreciate Booking.com publicising this case.

Hotel looks very dated. All windows in the room I stayed in need to be replaced. Breakfast was on the cool side and the orangr juice tasted like coloured water.

It's position and some of its staff try to compensate for some of the others who are dire. Some of the staff are very (stress very) poor and in two different areas of the hotel should not be in the service industry. I waited probably about five minutes for bar service...I was the only one at the counter...four staff all made eye contact so knew I was there and completely ignored me to 1. answer the phone, 2. chat amongst themselves or 3. go off to do something else. Eventually on (politely) asking if anyone was serving I was asked to come round to the other side of the bar (it is an eliptical counter) and I could be served there. The following morning, sitting in the lounge I asked for a pot of tea for two and a pot of coffee for two. I got exactly that.........a pot of each....no cups, no saucers, spoons, milk or sugar. I expected the missing items to follow but after the usual five minutes realsied that was all we were getting.More enquiries to the dining room (reception advised to go there) resulted in an excellent staff member apologising and sorting things out. It's quite funny and a sense of humour helps but really the stay was very poor.

Parking is a major problem. Hotel interior very outdated brought me back 40 years. Bedroom dark and drab, bedspread dark wine and torn. No draught beers in bar, problems with pipe lines. Not cheap by any means, very expensive for three star, paid less at beautiful four star hotels. I have never before complained about a hotel but I just could not let this pass, it was not a pleasant experience, unfortunately

The hotel is nice, old arquitecture, decoration, and of course nice stairs. We asked for one more hot chocolate (they only leave one door the doble room) and we wait forever and never received it. Also says free hotel parking but they have few available for the big hotel and them send you to go and park two o three blocks away and pay! Breakfast extremly expensive!

Location, building's old style charm Staff are efficient, but often come across as abrupt and unfriendly. This may be because most are European. Their English and training is excellent, but they mostly lack the friendly Scottish welcoming manner that one would hope for an old style hotel like this.

Location of the hotel and staff at the reception was very helpful. Limited Parking outside the hotel, they have got only 9 car park places, but if you are travelling by Train, you'll be very happy as the hotel is just outside the station.

Location Bar too expensive and barmen did not know how to pull a pint. Shower didn't work. Had to have a bath. This was not too much of a problem as I was never in a hurry.

The cooked breakfast offered variety and a good selection however the coffee left alot to be desired. This property is starting to show its age. Small items like cracking paint, peeling wallpaper, loose floor tiles are routinely overlooked by maintenance and housekeeping and they go untouched/unfixed.The small TV stand makes the TVt unviewable from the bed surface. Although when mentioned to the front desk they did locate a 30" table upon which the TV was set to make it viewable.Too bad that the management cannot see the little things that keep the Royal Higlander from being the first class property that it used to be!!

Central location, friendly staff, breakfast. The "tired" feel which was evident as soon as we entered. Parking could be a real problem. I would recommend this hotel to others but with the understanding that the rooms are basic but clean.

I loved the decoration of the room and the bathroom which was very comfort. Also the location was excellent, near the train station in the centre of the town. Excellent breakfast!!! I didn't like the hotel staff. They were all rude and with no smile in their faces. The check-in was very late( 15:00 pm) and the check-out very early ( 10:30 am ).

The Hotel is clean and well located in the city. It is ideal for a city break. Felt harrassed by staff to leave the room in the morning. Check out time was 1030 am, yet I had a member of staff knocking on the door at 930, then had a phone call at 1000am. I would not recommend this hotel to any of my friends.

Having stayed there before, we knew where it was situated, and chose to return to it as a couple, to complete our previous trip and visit the places we didnt get to then Expensive to eat there, even though I had a 20% off voucher, this was not deducted from the bill.

The location next to the railway station and in the centre of Inverness. Staff were courteous and helpful, the room was clean, warm and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent with a great variety of choices. I considered it to be excellent value for money, and I will certainly be using the Royal Highland again when I have to break my journey south.
