The location is very good. The room was spacious with a large balcony and wonderful sea view and excellent bathroom. The breakfast was very good. The evening meal choices become boring after a few visits.

Lovely old beachside hotel in an interesting conservation area with good beer and bar meals. The restaurant was taken over by a private party and although the bedroom was huge the bed was small for a double. Also the public pay car park was voraciously patrolled by wardens on Sunday morning!beware.

There is nothing to dislike about the hotel, however, dragging tables and heavy arm chairs across the restaurant floor, diectly below ones room, presumably to clean, at 0700 as dawn breaks dies not exactly make for relaxarion. The staff are young efficuent and charming and I suspect overly enthusiastic, hence tables at dawn.

The location is in a very good location, staff were very friendly and allocated our room early due to early flight arrival. Bed very comfortable and room cosy. The car park is a public car park in front of hotel. Suprised there is no arrangement with the car parking company for people staying in the hotel. Cost Excessive £1.00 per hour

The bedroom we were allocated was very spacious and although it was a cold day the room was lovely and warm. There were tea, coffee and hot chocolate making facilities with unusually these days biscuits. The staff were polite and friendly and the breakfast consisted of good quality food which was well cooked. We ate in the bar one night and found there to be a good choice of food on the menu. Would definitely stay there again. My only criticism is that the bathroom needs a bit of tlc.

The large bathroom. When I arrived at the hotel I was shown to my room but was dissapointed the room was so cold the room was not inviting because it was cold, considering we are in December I expected a nice cosy room!.The temperature is controlled downstairs. They said they had now put the heating on. The overall size of the rooms was more than enough for me, the bathroom is lovely! The bed was terribly uncomfortable

We go back to the Royal once or twice a year. And we have never been disappointed, Room and staff both excellent. It would be nice to get a drink at the bar later than 11.00 in the evening.

Extremely charming. Wonderful people. Everyone was so nice and very helpful. I had a million questions and they were patient with me and very helpful. The food was excellent. It was right on the beach! I could hear the waves from my room. Lovely. Just minor inconveniences I would attribute to my American perspective. The bathroom fixtures were lovely and seemed almost new. But I am mystified that someone would install new fixtures that keep the hot and cold water separate. Also, the age of the building made for some interesting floors and stairwells. But one could also call that part of its charm. Like I said, very minor. It was a fabulous place!

I received a warm and friendly reception. My room was comfortable and quiet. Having no parking of its own, I parked in the public car park immediately beside the hotel. I assumed the hotel had an arrangement for guests however I got a parking ticket the next morning. The hotel should make it clear that guests have to have a ticket to park. I also found the bathroom perfectly functional but the bath very small; I'm only 5ft 5 tall.

Excellent staff, keen to share useful local knowledge to help us through roadworks taking place nearby. Breakfast was good - the waitress offered refills of coffee before we had time to ask for them. It might be useful to mention to guests that there's an excellent Indian restaurant a couple of streets away, as well as a fine-dining restaurant opposite - for when the Royal's kitchen is closed in late evenings. Spacious room with a view of the sea, and a splendid roll-top bath with lots of hot water! Nothing at all to dislike - we'll come back.

The hotel was in the perfect spot and the staff where friendly and helpful. There is a wonderful bar and the resturant and bar serve very good food. The room was amazing and the view breathtaking, We will go back. Had a problem the first night as their pump failed so no heating or hot water the first morning, surprised that after our three night stay no discount, or apology given for this inconvenience.
