The evening meals were of a much higher standard and variety than other reviews had led me to expect. The Head Waiter made all the difference when on duty, being observant, friendly and very attentive, and making sure that junior staff saw to our needs. The room, 110 was comfortable and fresh, despite its location. The public areas are dated, drab and urgently in need of redesign, e.g. lower seating - anything to change its resemblance to an retirement home. I am a pensioner, but I don't need to be reminded of this when I step into the lounge or bar. We spent very little time in the bar, because it was impossible to chill in those chairs. The colours didn't help either. We had hoped that we would not be placed in one of the dreaded back rooms we had read about, but we were. The view was of facing windows and kitchen roof, and the dominant sound was of the extractor fan. I firmly believe that the adverts for the Rutland should not say "most rooms have sea views" and be honest, offering the back rooms with no view at all as budget rooms available for those who prefer a cheaper room and don't mind about the lack of view. It is the worst view I've ever had in any hotel. I was upset on arrival and went to complain at the desk. The girl there could not have cared less, she shrugged, said "sorry" and turned away. If I had known in advance, I would not have booked. |

Most of the Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, with a couple of exceptions The fact they ran out of draught lager on our second day and it was not replenished for four days, plus when buying a pint the fluctuation in price varied from £2.50 to £3.20,I queried this and am still waiting on an answer.Access to the hotel ,the steps I thought were very steep anyone with walking difficulties would have problems |

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the meals were always hot and enjoyable. The hotel itself was warm and convienient for our trip for the TT The restaraunt was not always open when advertised. The room service was not what we expected for the cost of the hotel.ie Room not always vacuumed, tea bags and toilet rolls not replaced, linen not replaced, all trivial but annoying |

Poor welcome on arrival - The receptionnist helped reluctantly ; same for the waiters- Entrance / reception areas very tired and in urgent need of a clean & or refurbishment. No guest information pack in the room. Room reasonnably clean ; the plus is the new bathroom. |

Excellent breakfast. Nice location. layout of rooms rather a maze but not a problem and to be expected in a modernised hotel of this type |

The restaurant staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was spacious, with a sea view and and excellent shower. My 85 year old mother found the steps to the front door very difficult. The dining room carpet was frayed and the stair carpet dirty. If we followed a coach party at meal times the food choice was restricted. |

I found my room comfortable and clean.Outside the window there was aa extractor fan on constantly day and night. If this fan's direction cannot be changed then maybe increasing sound insulation on the windows would be an option. The food was good. The dining room I found o.k. When we arrived to breakfast Saturday am at 930 most of the stock had not been replaced e.g. no orange juice,no yogurts,no bread to toast. All these had to be requested. Also under the cooked food display could do with a good oldfashioned sweep up as food is spilt on the floor there and was not swept while we were there. |

I think the hotel was portrayed on the net a bit more than what it actually was. I certainly wouldn't go back to the Rutland. Sorry... |

The visual characteristics of this beautifully designed hotel and leisure complex exude all the trappings of a four star establishment of the very highest quality: the luxuriously appointed bedrooms,... |
Boasting breathtaking views over the harbour, this luxury apart-hotel is ideally situated on the promenade in the commercial area of Douglas, on the picturesque Isle of Man. |
