Peacful and relaxing, very good food in the restaurant breakfast and dinner Was a long walk along the prom to town but could cope with that as the hotel was worth it, and keeps you fit, though there are buses that go along the prom if you cant be bothered walking

The Hotel is the islands best kept Secret, I found it on line looking for a hotel for a business trip. I liked everything about it, the staff are friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. The food is good and the entire stay great value for money. Rooms Clean and Modern.

Room 205 was a newly refurbished large room with a view.It was clean,we were provided with good quality towels, bathroom was a good size.Overall it was excellent. Breakfast was disappointing. There was no fresh fruit, only tinned mandarins, tinned prunes, tinned grapefruit, served with cereal.. Main course consisted of bacon, egg, sausage, hash browns, tinned beans, tinned tomatoes. One day, the radio was blaring in the dining room and the staff were going about singing - preparing for the x Factor possibly?? Hotel appears to cater for the turkey and tinsel type of crowd rather than individuals.

Room was spacious and comfortable dining room experience was poor large tables which rocked from side to side as people eat. If you were lucky enough to get a small table then staff and other diners were constantly walking around you. Staff took plates etc away too quickly.

We had a spacious, comfortable room overlooking the sea front. The staff were all pleasant and efficient. The food was of a very good standard and was good value - as was our whole stay. We were the only couple in the hotel who were not with a coach party and so we didn't know where we would be sitting each time we went to the restaurant and we felt a little bit like second class citizens at times! We were surprised there was not more tourist information available in the foyer.

The beds are comfy and the shower was great. The toiletries were replaced and towels very clean. The receptionist never spoke to us after we checked in. A polite good morning would have been nice. The first morning of our stay we had no idea where to sit or what to do for our breakfast, 3 waitresses never spoke or showed us to a table. We had to ask for tea/coffee, then went on a search for milk. We found the buffet but there was no plates, my husband wanted kippers but didnt know we had to ask. The same morning there were 2 other guests in the same situation. When we checked out the receptionist never came over to us to say thankyou. The hotel has a serious staff problem, everything else was great.

The bedrooms were very spacious and clean. The fact that there were three coach loads of senior citizens staying at the same time as us. It's obvious that the coach travellers are the hotels "bread and butter" as we were treated as second class citizens. Meals in the restaurant were rotated by coach company, we opted for room service however we were told that there were no deserts left due to the fact that there were 3 coaches of guests as well as us!!!! We couldn't get in to the bar on the two nights that we stayed there, and we couldn't get to sleep because of the noise from the entertainment in the bar!!! Whatever you do, don't even think about asking for a peppermint teabag, the look that I was given by staff when I asked for this was appalling. I was told that they only do ordinary tea and coffee!!!

The window is well soundproof. comfortable bed. nice dinning area. good communication. helpful staffs. nice bedroom. good decoration. Toilet flush is not very efficient. doesn't have a bath. doesn't have a good view. the outside of the window is towards the inside courtyard, very noisy and not nice if we open the window. the service is not efficient or even not sufficient. nobody come and pick up our breakfast delivery request. the structure of the floors is like a maze. it's hard to find a way out of it.

The hotel room was very nice especially the bathroom and all very spacious. My room was also upgragred due to hotel space issues as I'd booked online a while ago for a single room but I ended up with a lovely sea view from massvie bay windows in a triple room. The food at the hotel for breakfast was very nice too. The hotel entrance steps were very slippy and wet, some areas had huge puddles of water filing the whole step, very dangerous (even with the sign) and tricky to get up and down.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was well prepared each day. The shower was exceptionally good and refreshing. The only things that let the hotel down was: 1. The windows in Room 109 looked out on a roof which had debris and litter including a sanitary towel on it and this was very uninviting. 2. As guests we felt very 2nd class when it came to breakfast, we realise the main income is from tours but to be put next to the toilet door in the dining room to eat as this was the only available table was uncomfortable.

The Rutland Hotel is beautifully situated overlooking the beach with a panoramic view of Douglas bay. The staff are very friendly and went the'extra mile' to make our stay enjoyable. The self service style meals were good value for money. The inclusive breakfast choices were excellent. The cost of either 2 or 3 course evening meals was very reasonable with a good selection of dishes to suit most diners. Our rooms were well furbished and comfortable. The Mnagement went out of it's way to accommodate our request for double rooms with single beds by ensuring that an extra bed was provided. We enjoyed our stay at the Rutland sand would certainly consdider going back there if we ever visited the Isle of Man again. Access to the Hotel was very steep for anyone infirm or with walking dificullties. The corridors were very hot and like a rabbit warren with many fire doors to open.

polite friendly and helpful staff (this attitude was reflected in all the places i visted on the island) not the best hotel i have ever stayed at but very decent and then again far from the most expensive either. Value for money wise no problems whatsoever. a fair way along the promenade from the town (does mean quite in the evening) and room was hard to keep cool

It was right on the front near a good bar and lots of free on road parking. Shower was powerful. Over charged for a beer, no bath, a lot of foreign staff (Polish I think), when I arrived they said I had cancelled my room, I assured them I hadn't, someone had obviously made a mistake, lucky they were able to find me another room!

One of the members of staff was very helpful. However, I was mostly made to feel that I took second place to the coach party members. As above plus the room was ridiculously hot ( 80 degrees) at night during quite cool weather! I had to argue quite hard to get a fan and then eventually a room change. The room was not as clean as I expected, dirty marks on the carpet for example. Little choice at breakfast, the same everyday and one particularly unhelpful member of staff in the restaurant. Overall disappointing.

Yes I will definately stay there again but I would prefer not to be in a room where the windows only opened about 2 inches and it was suffocating! the fact I couldnt get air as per above, seems crazy not to be able to open a window, made for a very uncomfortable night. I go to the IOM on a regular basis to see my grandchildren and perefer to stay in hotels as opposed to their home. The Rutland is the closest I've come to finding someplace I have liked.
