the staff were extremely friendly and helpful

it's very dark everywhere - the bathroom was a little too dark to do your makeup properly, I wasn't able to read the menu or my book in the retaurant in the evening, the swimming pool was too dark underwater when swimming. A little extra lighting would be extremely helpful.

Geograhic situation of the hotel is really fine, specially during the August festival. One guy in charge of the luggage and of showing the room is very nice, the only one we met smiling. Restaurant is nice looking and the food /wine are good.

The price during the festival period is quite too high by comparaison to the services of the hotel. Ratio/quality price is really bad. No air conditionning: the atmosphere of the rooms is quite warm and humid. We had to use a fan blowing during all the night.Some people at the reception are not sympathic at all (check out without a smile nor a word !). Bathroom is small, does not smell good, completely outside of the supposed standard of the hotel. Street is very noisy and the insulation not efficient. Parking is very far and unconvenient.Clearly not worth the price.

The Scotsman was perfect location for getting about Edinburgh. It was very friendly and the staff were excellent. The room was perfect and clean. We would not hesitate to use it again.

Great location. Very comfortable room with great views onto Princes Street. Easy walking distance to Shops.Despite great central location their was no street noise in our room which overlooked Waverly Station. Had a snack lunch in the Hotel restaurant Which was excellent and reasonably priced. Very friendly and helpful staff throughout the Hotel.

The hotel was beautiful, the staff very attentive and friendly and the facilities excellent; we would definately stay here again.

Generally good, individual rooms although we were unhappy with the first allocated room and consequently were transferred to an Editors Room. This was a fantastic upgrade with excellent views of the city. Staff were friendly and helpful. We will make a point of returning when next in Edinburgh.

We liked everything about the Scotsman Hotel ! The location, the employees, the room, the quality of the food. It was perfect !

It is a beautiful hotel,with very friendly staff who are welcoming and helpful. The facilities are excellent and the food is of a high quality. It's location is ideal for shopping,the station and sightseeing. A fantastic venue to suit everyone,I just wish I could have stayed longer.

The staff were really excellent and gave a very personalised service during my stay. Small touches like the turn-down service, where a bottle of mineral water is put at your bed-side and morning paper, where an accompanying weather forecast is included were all very much appreciated. The room was very comfortable and the bed unbelievably soft. The food was also excellent and I strongly recommend the full Scottish breakfast from the breakast in bed menu.

The room was very hot and the traffic noise from North Bridge prevented openning a window for any length of time at night. The entertainment system was initially quite baffling to use, but the staff were more than happy to come and explain it (very promptly as well).

There was not hot water for a bath. The desk to work at was too small.

The lack of parking and guest inconvenience to and from car park is totally unacceptable . We would haved not stayed if we had not prepaid !

We would prefere not to have to listen to xmas music piped in when having breakfast

The staff were really friendly and helpful and the hotel is well-located near to all the sites.

It is a small point but the double bed was a little bit small - certailnly compared to other hotels' beds.
