The staff was incredibly friendly and service oriented (i.e. I noticed upon arrival they had been practising my for nondutch unpronouncable familyname, during my stay they managed to fix a broken lamp before I had a chance to report it without me even noticing them doing this. Just magic.) |

Great location in the center of Edinburgh, friendly staff and comfortable rooms with good views of the city.Slightly quirky building with character. Although close to the railway station we could not hear a thing. No,would use again. |

The staff was excellent, friendly and went above expectations to make the guests feel welcome. There isn't anything I didn't like per say about the hotel, but it doesn't quite live up to its advertising as a boutique hotel. The room was nice, but nothing different than what one would find in a nice chain hotel- the furnishings and window treatments were nothing special. In addition, there were small details which lessened the room- the curtains were falling off the racks, there were large stains on the carpets. |

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The classic beauty of the building is striking and a treat in itself. Very good central position. A few 'small things' bothered: no ventilation or air freshener for the bathroom/toilet, no hand towel rail near to the basin, poor water pressure in the shower. I had booked an extra bed online, but the hotel seemed unaware of this when we arrived. The TV remote control was missing and a replacement had to be found. |

The staff in the hotel were excellent, very helpful. There was no exclusive hotel bar. The only bar/resteraunt was accessible off the street and would not allow children in after 8 in the evening. |

Location I realize it was the expensive season, but the value was not there for the money. One of our room keys did not work; we were told that the coffee for the rooms (individual filters) had run out, and we did not receive any coffee other than our first night there. But the biggest complaint was that at over 300 pounds per night, the room was hot and stuffy. The staff was very helpful and nice, and the hotel itself was beautiful--just not a value/comfortable at that price! At a lower price and during a season when it is not so hot, I would recommend the hotel. |

The Conceirge Staff were extremely helpful. The service in the Gym we did not think was to a high standard and should be improved for hotel guests. |

Very comfortable room, with all needed amenities; helpful reception; good location near rail station and near main tourist areas. No air conditioning in rooms, and windows did not open, making it stuffy; expensive internet |

The location and spa was lovely. the room wasn't anywhere as nice as the ones in the brochure. I would have expected for 5 star them all to be of a certain standard. Despite double glazing we were disturbed by the noise from the station below |

The hotel is rather ordinary, nothing stands out. No aircon. Very noisy. Furniture looks home made. Definitely not 5 star as advertised. |

We were able to spend a couple of hours in the drawing room in the evening after we had checked out while we waited to catch a train. |

Excellent attention and courteousness from the staff. No air conditioning in the rooms. Probably not a problem at most times of the year, although we happened to be there during a particularly hot spell in July. |
