The Scotsman Hotel    

The food was delicious and well presented. The staff couldn't help you enough, went out of there way to make our stay fantastic.

Nothing everything was perfect.

The room and ensuite bathroom were lovely, clean, luxurious linens/towels. serviced every day to a high standard. the staff bend over backwards to assist in anyway, they are the best of the best, can't speak high enough of them, food awesome +++

there was absolutely nothing to dislike, I will bring my daughter back with me next year and stay longer next time

there was a very loud party below us that lasted late into the night that kept me awake. This is very small but really irritating: the garbage can lid in the bathroom is really loud when it closes because its metal on metal.

Location, exterior, overal feel

The hotel was splendid. The staff made attending to the needs of their visitors their top priority. A very comfortable hotel with all the trimmings. I will always stay at the Scotsman when in Edinburgh. Well it would be silly not to do so. Its the best. Food excellent too. A word about Edinburgh.. a great place to stay and everywhere is easy to get to. I recommend the city and the Scotsman.

The light switches had us bamboozled at first but we got it in the end. Such a silly thing to complain about but I cant think of anything else.

A good hotel based centrally to the action.

The building air conditioning could have been cooler because the sooner covers were too warm. Suited for a sheet but none available, not doona cover.

Staff were very good and situ is great.

I don't think it is really what I would call a 5* hotel. A double bed should be "a double bed, not 2 singles that move apart!! In a 5* hotel the breakfast should be much better especially when cooked to order.

The Ambience, the history of the building and the setting, the staff, access to Internet. Complimentary bottle of water in the evening and newspaper.

Small elevator

The hotel is in a great spot close to walking distance of a lot of great Edinburgh attractions. We loved the old building and found the room comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful also.

The bed was a little too small.

Central Location, close to good public transport, visitor centre and attractions. Staff were very helpful and eager to help. Bedroom was well appointed and clean.

The bed needed a new mattress, which was very uncomfortable and lumpy. This let the hotel down considerably. Why, Oh why cannot hotels check on the quality of their beds - a very basic item. Menu could have had more changes. Whilst food was of good quality and 'cheffie', there was only two changes in the menu over the 3 days we stayed there.

Outstanding! We have travelled extensively and is one of the best hotels in which we have stayed. From our experience we would recommend this hotel to anyone. The pool was amazing.

The staff were very helpful, couldn't do enough for you. Spa was lovely and our room was beautiful. Fantastic breakfast delivered to our room. Even though we arrived 2 hours early, our room was ready. Highly recommend this hotel.

Courteous staff but not overdone or intrusive.

With hotel rates of this nature, the hotel really ought to have air conditioning in the rooms.Because of traffic noise ,essential to keep windows closed but little air to breathe as a result.

The carpet in room needs either replacing or tightening also bar staff were a bit slow with customers who were not sitting up at the bar

The location was good, since we travelled to Edinburgh by train. The hotel is very central for all the city's attractions and shops. The staff were all helpful and attentive.

Sadly we were disappointed with our bedroom, which was fairly small. The bed was not very comfortable.
