The size of the rooms were wonderful. The bathroom nice and modern. The staff wonderfully helpful, particularly the one gentleman who helped take our bags across the street to the train station then escorted us all the way to our train car.
Nothing we didn't like although there is no AC and I guess that could be a problem at times. Also we didn't eat breakfast so can't comment on that.
Great location both for old and new towns. Helpful and friendly staff. Good breakfasts. Free use of the pool in the spa.
No air conditioning so slept with a window open despite some noise from the street.
Nothing at all was a problem to the staff. Great location right in the Heart of the City!!
Dinner menu was a little limited but food was very high standard. Please extend menu a little!!
Only suggestion would be to add a clock next to the bed.
Poor a la carte menu, luke warm buffet style breakfast, shanby stained carpets in corridor. Not what you would expect from a hotel of this calibre
High quality, nice staff. Very friendly atmosphere and in a perfect location.
The location was great for both the old and new city. The staff was excellent. Especially the concereige team.
The Pom configurations were odd. The first room provided was totally unworkable. The second room was better but sloping roof lines made life interesting. The bathroom mirror was on a 45 degree angle so you had to look up to shave. The room was very warm and we were told could not be corrected.
Everything. The staff was superb. The room was big, with all the amenites including a Nespresso coffee machine. Breakfast was plentiful ,with a very good variety. Location was excellent, one block from rail station. Highly recommendable
Location...great Concierge staff...spacious rooms..
The lay out is a bit disconnected, the breakfast could definitely have been better, same buffet selection every single day....the end tables next to the bed were dusty... Not what I'd expect to see in a hotel rated as such. But, location could not have been better and concierge staff was great.
The free upgrade to a suite, the leisure facilities and the friendliness of all the staff.
The carpet in the room let it down as it was tired and wrinkled.
Can‘t fault it in every way, ok, maybe wifi is slow, but that is so minor. We especially appreciate the service. Staff are so helpful. 10 out of 10!!!
Great location. Staff helpful
Bed was very small and uncomfortable. Wi fi didn't work at all during my stay. Location is good but difficult when driving. We got stuck in ridiculous non moving traffic trying to get to the hotel. They should have the address of the parking on the website. It would be so much easier to do this rather than try and get to the hotel which is on a very busy road and very difficult to get to due to so many one way roads and then have to drive to the car park from the hotel.
Nice old building, good location and friendly staff.
Car parking and directions absolutely apauling, wasted hours going round and round plus long walk with cases Terrible written instructions written on black and impossible to read while driving. If Hotel warned in advance could be sorted far easier. Think, not only us. Never managed a seat to eat in evening.
Original features , friendly , helpful staff and great location
The lounges being in the basement area , it lacked atmosphere
Close to Waverley Station so using rail system was great. Hotel is within walking distance to so many places of interest, dining, pubs and shopping.
The wi-fi access code had to be changed daily and the elevators were very slow.
great food and a good menu option.
people doing work while eating breakfast , using mobile phones.
the staff the bathroom the pool
the bed was terrible the view was terrible the hotel is a maze of halls and stairways
Location and facilities. Very helpful doorman/ porter.
Despite booking almost 3 months in advance and specifying a twin room , this was unavailable and we had to make do with one of us sleeping in a roll away small single.
Very warm welcome; Friendly staff; Good location in Edinburgh; Nice wellness area;
No towels at the pool area; A little bit dusty ventilation pipes at the pool area;
Excellent location in walking distance to old and new town. Friendly and helpful staff
Access to reception with a car - difficult drop off point an dthen parking some distance away. No comfortable lounge to sit in for late night drink - only bar in dining room.
Great location. Really comfortable bed and friendly staff. Would definitely go back but maybe not in the summer.
Our room was very hot. No air conditioning so had to open the windows and street noise kept us awake. Marked down for value for money as it was double the usual price due to the Tattoo and the Festivals but everywhere in Edinburgh is the same.
Staff and location
Loved that the hotel was across the street from the Waverly train station - got off the train and walked to the hotel! Excellent location in the middle of all attractions in Edinburgh - could walk to everything. Beautiful, historic architecture of building - amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night stay!
Kind of pricey, but excellent service, so you get what you pay for as the saying goes :)
comfortable bed friendly staff nice towel quality
small room for 5 star order burger was far away from 5 star not even MacDonald quality presentation of food far away from 5 star bathroom not 5 star quality
Lovely hotel, very comfortable in a fab location. My room was spacious and the staff were helpful and friendly.
A bit pricey, even though it was busy time in Edinburgh.
