We were given an upgrade on our room
The location is perfect, you also get a reduction in parking cost if you stay in the NCP car park
good for the location
breakfast self service not good bar prices costly car parking not good considering it was booked months ago
friendly staff cultural loation
Location was fantastic, staff were friendly & very helpful & a beautiful building & room!
Very quiet good value slept really well. Would definitely stay again.
Lack of parking
Beautiful, traditional accommodation. Comfortable and characterful.
The position in Stratford Friendly staff
Nowhere to load/unload car A bit shabby decore, used food trays and really tatty linen trolleys in corridors for hours. Noisy air con/kitchen vents outside window. No heat in electric towel rail.
There was an adjoining door to the next room which was not sound proof, so we could hear the other guests. One coughed all night which kept us awake. (Rooms 105 and 106)
Excellent location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms
Not a lot
Excellent location, great stay, central to everything
The bar the bedroom and the peace and quiet
Bar shuts too early and its a pain to get the night porter etc
The location is perfect and the building itself is very beautiful.
The breakfast was the worst I have come across in years of travelling. The waiter seemed half-asleep and needed to be reminded twice to bring us tea and coffee; the fried eggs were underdone and the bacon reheated and dry; the scrambled eggs were so dry they had formed into granules. When we asked for eggs benedict from the menu, the waiter had to be asked twice (again) and when they came consisted of two watery, underdone fried eggs from the buffet, a bit of dried bacon and a squirt of Hollandaise sauce. My wife had to sleep in the armchair as the mattress on the bed was unsupported (I think the sommier was broken).
Staff are very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast - good choice and hot except for the scramble eggs which I had raved about to our friends who were travelling with us, sadly this time dry and unappetizing.
This was our fourth visit, the third this year. This time our room was very small compared to rooms we have been given in the past - slightly disappointing as we had friends with us and had told them to expect a little more. But this will not deter us from staying again as many aspects of the hotel are outstanding.
Great location, good breakfast, friendly helpful staff, room was spacious luxurious bathroom
Not very push chair friendly, no lift to all floors
Ideal location in centre of town,
Offsite parking was not entirely convenient.
Location was great
Rooms a little tired, and Suite just a slightly bigger room.
Good location; reasonable breakfast; good quality room.
The room key system is obsolete. The card had to be one way to get into the building, the reverse to get into our room??
I liked the location and the look of an olde worked hotel on outside, good breakfast .
The first member of staff we spoke to was of poor appearance at the desk, not very friendly . Didn't tell us about how to get to car park , properly , and in and out if it with code etc! A shame to see a mix of new and old furniture, pictures, and lamp stands which did not fit the age of building and what we envisaged. Windows couldn't open in our room and poor air con.a mush mash of furniture in our room . Lots of little things which we noticed which could be improved. Etc
We like the atmosphere downstairs and all the old rooms. Some of the new rooms in the annexe are OK too but in a different way.
My room was not air conditioned in a heat wave. The fan provided was extremely noisy and my room was opposite the car park and restaurant and was kept awake all night by traffic noise and early morning deliveries. As the room was on the ground floor, I couldn't open the curtains as everyone passing could look in.
Our room was very large and comfortable. The bed was particularly good. The hotel's location is perfect to explore Stratford on foot from, and is close to excellent pubs, restaurants and tea shops.
In the evening the basin hot water took at least five minutes just to reach lukewarm, while the plug must have been partly blocked as it couldn't drain fast enough to cope with the running water. I was disappointed the hotel had not reacted to my special request for champagne and flowers in the room (we were celebrating my wife's birthday) although they acknowledged having received it. No apology, just a half-baked explanation that suggested I was at fault for booking too far in advance!
position in stratford which was excellent bathroom was excellent standard
standard of the room furnishing and decor was very poor
Room details advertised iPod dock within tv set up - enquired and staff knew nothing about it (needed cable) and advised to bring own cable!!!! Took away card and said they'd send someone else up but heard nothing more. Ordered newspaper on checkin but nothing turned up. Nothing special about experience.
