The Somerville - Southwest B&B Of The Year 2011  

The Somerville was the best guest house I have ever stayed in. It was spotlessly clean, interesting decorated, with every attention to detail. The level of service was perfectly judged in terms of being helpful and friendly but not 'in your face' - sometimes this can be an issue in B&Bs when travelling on business, but not here. Also the best breakfast ever! (and great for vegetarians too). Would recommend unreservedly.

Made to feel welcome then things improved.a most enjoyable stay.

On arrival we were greeted very warmly, receiving a welcome drink of our choice. Our suitcases were taken to our room whilst we relaxed in the lounge area which was elegantly decorated and furnished. Our booking was made late into the season so we didn't have much option with regard to choice of room, however, it was beautifully furnished, clean and well stocked with drink making facilities and toiletries. If we had booked earlier, I would have preferred a room with a bath, but again, that's not everyone's priority. All the staff were friendly and keen to make sure our stay was a good one, which it was.

If Carlsberg ran B&Bs... Impeccable service - made us feel right at home from the start - fabulous decor - wonderful recommendations for places to see / restaurants.

The owners were very pleasant and helpful, they went that extra mile. The location was excellent, 5 minutes walk from the centre. The luxury rooms were exceptionally comfortable and clean. The decor was amazing. I would definitely go back again and recommend this to others. The breakfasts were excellent. An excellent selection of cereals and fruit. The cooked breakfast was cooked to your choice (nothing was too much trouble) and brought to your table.

No complaints whatsoever.

The Somerville was everything we expected after reading previous reviews. The location is ideal, very close to the heart of Torquay but far enough away so as not be disturbed by any noise. The room was beautifuuly presented, spotlessly clean,with every possible need catered for. The breakfast menu was very extensive ( a dieters nightmare!) a lovely array of cold buffet options and all hot food very well cooked and presented to order. The staff were very helpful, polite, and friendly. We telephoned the day before arrival and advised the owners of our estimated arrival time, although this was a couple of hours prior to check in time our room was ready and they were more than happy to welcome us.

We were made to feel very welcome upon arrival and the service received was superb throughout our stay. Our room was very comfortable and had lots of nice touches like; sweets, bottled water that was replenished daily, luxury toiletries, good selection of hot drinks etc. The breakfast was made with quality ingredients cooked to perfection. The Somerville is in a good location and 5 minutes walking to the shops, bars and restaurants and the information available in the room helped ensure we made a good choice for dining out in the evening. Plenty of parking available was appreciated. I'm not at all surprised that The Somerville has received so many accreditations and this is a testament to the amount of effort the team put in to ensure every guest enjoys their stay.

Excellent service and as good if not better than any 5 star hotel

Ein ausgesprochen charmantes Hotel im Boutique-Stil mit sehr vielen liebevoll ausgesuchten dekorativen Elementen. So klein das Hotel auch ist, es bleiben keine Wünsche offen. In den Zimmern fehlt gar nichts, selbst ein Bügelbrett ist vorhanden. In den Betten liegt man wie auf Wolken. Ebenso liebevoll und mit viel Humor kümmert sich die Hotelleitung um das Wohl jedes einzelnen Gastes. Das englische Frühstück ist fantastisch und wird in einem Wintergarten serviert. Die Inhaber liefern fundierte Tipps zu Ausflügen und Restaurants; sie zeigen echtes Interesse an ihren Gästen. Ein super Hotel, wer mit sehr viel Deko keine Probleme hat, fühlt sich sicher wohl ! Top Empfehlung !
