Couldn't get Wifi
The pool is tiny and despite notices saying no jumping kids were jumping in all yhe time I was in there
Staff View from rear of hotel Wifi Breakfast
Tired communal areas Tired bedrooms
We liked our room. It was clean and guests are well provided for, extra milk pots were sent quickly without question
The breakfast was barely edible The scrambled egg was grey, all my table mentioned this. The rest of the food was luke warm and poorly cooked. Service was good until they got busy then the staff could not cope.
We got an upgrade when I saw that our original room overlooked a busy roundabout. Much happier with the quieter room at the back with a king size bed.
Pool area was small. Wanted to complain about noisy family above us at 10.20 pm but our phone didn't work. Our complimentary robes were ridiculously small so we had to get dressed and go down to reception. The charge for one of our two nights accommodation was taken off which was a gesture at least. Food was excellent but just didn't feel that overall it was the 4 star treatment. Huge place and a bit corporate. Only go if you get a really good rate.
staff was earnest and helpful but were not able to follow through on advance requests
late openings for breakfast (0700) and exercise room (0630) were difficult to work around given commute times
A wonderful situation on the Ephraim Heights, opposite the common and overlooking the town below. Only a one night stay, but room was well equipped and comfortable. Has a good spa with gym, steam room, sauna and swimming pool. Staff pleasant and helpful.
Didn't have breakfast as we wanted to try the highly recommended Juliet's Cafe in town but seems expensive at £16 each.
We liked the quaintness of the hotel and its rooms. Even though we didn't have much of a view, we were happy being in such an old-fashioned room. We loved being in such close proximity to both running and walking trails and the charm of Tunbridge Wells. It's a great place to experience all the charms of the UK.
Loved the location of the hotel and the location of our room at the back overlooking the garden. Good breakfast and very helpful room service. Room very quiet which was great.
Room was small and only standard double for a premium room.
The bedroom décor, bathroom, beds and quietness we could not fault.
The hotel needs a LARGE sign outside, existing one totally inadequate. Lounge far too small to accommodate residents from 70 rooms + many outside visitors taking tea + wedding guests etc. Hotel of this size needs 3 lounges. Staff not "with it" at all, one couldn't even pronounce Chardonnay after 3 attempts admitted "I don't know much about that sort of thing." !!! Staff need re-training. Overcharged and had great difficulty attempting to explain what we HAD paid for and what we were NOT due to pay for - wanted us to pay £40 when blatantly clear not on our bill. Often no-one on Reception, some of those could barely manage a smile, giving a good impression they were doing guests (not only us) a favour. Only one lift, of limited size, with long walk to rooms, Hotel of this size again needs at least 2 more; we appreciate installation and maintenance etc costly but urgently needs addressing. Portions of food meagre, sprouts like bullets, carrots beggared description, potatoes soggy lumps. Steaks vastly overpriced. Have stayed in many 4-star Hotels, both home and abroad, but The Spa unfortunately, does not merit this; someone needs to look at all above comments and do something to rectify. Not a Hotel we would recommend, it's too big and trying to achieve far too much with too few facilities and inadequate staff. Very disappointing.
The room The food The ambience
Room very comfortable, Maisie the car was a lovely touch, made it feel homely
Public areas, corridors to room and restaurant were quite cold. Otherwise great stay
spa, gym... bathroom floor heating
breakfast - don't try it, it's overpriced and quality of it is like in an economy hostel. staff is really unpleasant and non-helpful with any special requests.
Good location as walking distance to town. Nice gardens and spa
Staff were not very friendly Noisy party going on until passed midnight Noisy staff chatting outside my bedroom at 7.30am on a Sunday morning Very expensive for what you got
Comfy bed large room nice meal
Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable
Nowhere to park initially (reason given by staff - too busy) Check in took an age (reason - too busy) Breakfast service was poor - we waited half an hour to place an order and had to chase it twice (reason - too busy)
The gym had an excellent range of state of the art resistance weights and the breakfast was delicious. The grounds were quiet and there was an attractive pond, if you need some fresh air. It was old fashioned but in a good way. The house felt old but quirky and the room was newly decorated so it felt fresh. The staff were helpful but not interfering. A relaxing stay.
The pool was a bit crowded with local members who definitely felt they had a large degree of ownership. We ate in the newly refurbished & modernised bar and the staff were at times very distracted. They also lacked knowledge of the wine list and seemed to lack confidence. Also, the baby highchair was too hard & felt unsafe. In contrast, the restaurant staff at breakfast were attentive & confident. The old fashioned, stately restaurant was a lovely setting for a delicious breakfast. Same old highchair but the staff were sweet with our baby daughter. It made all the difference.
Kindly efficient staff. Good facilities. Lovely garden
Cooked breakfast ingredients could have been of higher quality
Breakfast Room was lovely, was like having your own flat.
Bar prices a bit dear.
Spacious room with a lovely view of the rear gardens . Very comfortable lounge .Beautiful chandelier restaurant for breakfast .
Staff were friendly and helpful Spa facilities were delightful
Room service breakfast was freezing and really poor quality Room had wet walls... curious experience
Very small rooms. Old hotel. Noisy (a lot of Russians) and the hotel stinks in the morning (eggs and bacon). No friendly staff and bad English speaking staff. Shower very small.
Beds were very comfortable and beautiful gardens. The dinner at the bistro restaurant that was some of best food I've had in a long time although was very pricey wines list. Clean and great kids section to.
Where do I start. The staff were rude abrupt especially the breakfast staff who need training on etiquette and manners ASAP. Before I had even say down for breakfast u was being given asked my breakfast choice and was then promptly ignored for rest of morning . Coffee was foul clearly cheap instant, eggs were watery and cheap sausages. For such a grand room shame breakfast was totally lacklustre. My bedroom stank of cigarettes and so we asked to be moved but room we received was considerably smaller but they still wanted include same price so we stayed in smelly damp bedroom. Staff throughout were unhelpful especially to my small child and overall experience terribke. This is an expensive hotel. Damp dingy and need updating. Staff rude abrupt . And all this whilst paying London prices. Terrible
We were surprised that a four star hotel closed its dining room on a Monday
Tor,on reception, was pleasant and helpful.
Excruciating bed in room number 3
