The StablesLlanwnda, LL54 5SD Caernarfon (Show map) Good, Score from 74 reviews“Just what I wanted a quiet and cosy place to spend the night”
Paul,
Liverpool
On 15 acres of beautiful, peaceful countryside, on the edge of the Llyn Peninsula and Snowdonia National Park, The Stables offers charming 4-star guest accommodations and free parking. Originally built in the 1970s, The Stables has ground-level rooms with private bathrooms and 2 self-catering cottages. Each room is individually decorated, with its own charm. The Stables was once the home of the Olivers, a well-known local family of horse breeders. The breakfast room is in the original stable block, converted in the 1960s. With 15 acres of countryside and plenty of free parking, The Stables makes a great base for exploring Snowdonia and North Wales, superb for walking, fishing, climbing and sailing. There are beaches within 2 miles of the property and Caernarfon is just 3 miles away. Storage for bikes is available at The Stables. Hotel Rooms: 22

Twin room was clean & with coffee etc. Bed was comfy. Could not get any hot water for a shower - ran tap for at least 5 minutes, but after being called staff member got it hot after running at maximum for several minutes - need to be patient! Breakfast is continental - enough choice for cereals, but coffee & tea used were awful.

Staff friendly and helpful, room very clean. Not a full "English" breakfast, which we prefer.... Juice , rolls, cereal, yogurt etc. Quiet, countryside location yet close to Caernefton and Bangor...a short drive away. Wi-fi would have been nice.

Friendly helpful staff in some aspects. Good breakfast and coffee. Room smelt of mould. I'm allergic to mould. Old style furniture - not exactly lovely. Not good value for money. Heaters went off at a certain time - room cold when we got back. More variety in pastries would be better, instead of just croisants

I asked before I booked if The Stables had facilities for wheelchair access. I only needed somewhere without any stairs and was quite flat. They sorted a lovely room for me (18). It was a large room and had a lovely comfortable double bed and a single too. The bathroom was quite large with a double shower and complete with a drop seat. The bathroom floor was non slip. The room itself was equipped with tea/coffee making facilities and Tv. The staff were very helpful. I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a large space to stay. The only problem I had was there was a large step to the dining /breakfast room which I found difficult to get in as I have walking difficulties, apart from that everything was great.

The very attractive room, loved the curtains and the picture on wall. The comfortable beds and cosy quilts. The mugs (bone china not the usual white thick mugs) and tea making facilities,( nice that included biscuits). The pretty bathroom. The friendly staff which is important to me. The fact that it was not overpriced. Breakfast was delicious (great fresh fruit, museli etc) I do not feel a cooked breakfast is necessary or healthy. Lovely and quiet. Next time we come back to Bangor I won't look for alternative accommodation. Easy parking. Sense of security - felt safe. The bath water was not very hot. Glass glasses would have been much nicer than the plastic ones provided, for drinking water in the night. Nothing else at all.

It is in the countryside, yet close enough to big shopping areas and loads of other amenities to suit all ages and tastes. The management and their staff could not be more helpful and above all else they are pet friendly. It is also a luxury to open the window in the morning and breath the fresh country air and listen to the wildlife. We will be back again. In the event of being stuck indoors by weather there are no catering facilities other than breakfast.

It was close to where I was to attend events connected with what might be called a long-term interest and hobby. I was pleasantly surprised to be recognised by the proprietior from my previous visits about 10-12 years before, and greeted warmly. I was disappointed that a cooked breakfast was not available, which forms part of my enjoyment upon such trips in preparation for a long day of actvities in the district. I was surprised at this for the price range, when such is offered routinely in accommodation at half the price.

The Stables seemed dull and lifeless, the continental breakfast was at best dull and no cooked alternative was available. Our room had no hot water.

There are so many good things to say about The Stables, but if I had to choose just one, then it would be the friendliness of the owners and staff. Nothing was too much trouble and from the moment we arrived, we knew we'd made an excellent choice of hotel in which to spend the following two weeks. We liked everything.

The welcome we received by the owners, was superb. The room was clean and comfortable. The family room was large enough for 2 aults and 3 teenage kids.Breakfast was ample, with good choice.Service excellent.Great location for nearby beaches,Caernarfon, and exploring Mount Snowdon and the surrounding area. Good value for money. My only negative about the hotel, and I can only think opf one, is that the room we stayed in had a very 'hard to shut' bathroom door. You really had to slam it to shut(made a loud bang)

Room was nice and clean. Could have done with a little more colour etc pictures.and less mirrors no need for 3 in 1 room. Water in shower on the cold ish side, would have been nice if hotter. No h dryer in room no answer on other end of phone when I wanted to ask about one, Had to leave key on desk when checking out as no one was at desk or answering phone. Breakfast was lovely though.

The Black Boy Inn
The Black Boy is a 16th-century inn within Caernarfon's historic town walls. It has good Real Ales, hearty meals, and is an easy walk from the center of town and 13th-century castle.
