The location is very good, Breakfast had a great choise & a high standard. Staff very efficient in the public areas The basic rooms in the St George are extremely small, there is about two foot from the bottom of the end to the wall and a piece of furniture in between. The car parking is an absolute nightmare. We arrived back at the Hotel at 2.30 in the afternoon, the car park was full, there were 3 cars double parked. I was told to try the promenade. No spacers available. After driving around for 45 minutes I eventualy parked in a Church overnight for £5. The cost wasn`t the issue, the inconvenience was. The car park was about 800 yards from the Hotel, a real problem if you`ve mobility problems or the weather is bad.

Courtesy of staff at breakfast and evening meal. Although I had done the booking and had confirmation, I was not known when checking-in at the desk. Our room keys were cancelled one day before departure. I was charged for the Daily Telegraph although I had given in vouchers for the paper. This was due to the room being in the other persons name. Could these not be noted on your computer system? Only minor details but should not happen at a 4 star hotel.

I liked the design and fit out of the rooms and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I booked the hotel specifically because it stated that Wifi was available in all rooms of the hotel, this was due to the fact that I needed access to the internet to work over the course of the weekend. On arrival I found that I could not access any internet from my room (210) which was not only an inconvenience but meant that I missed a deadline that I had for Monday am. As much as I was impressed with the hotel in many aspects the fact that on this occassion it did not do what was advertised which created me a very large issue I find extremely upsetting, especially when I paid more than I would have otherwise in order to have this access.

The rooms were well proportioned and modern in style. Breakfast was generally good and I felt at home. Room service was prompt and the menu was varied enough to work for me. There were too many creaky floorboards. Admittedly it is an old hotel, but a few screws could have made me feel less concious when walking around my room and bathroom. This I would have overlooked had a similar noise not come from the corridor and the roosm above.

Poor value for money. Our room was situated at the rear of the hotel, adjacent to the air ducting system which roared early morning until late at night. The hotel was extremely noisy way past midnight whidh precluded sleep. I had to ring at midnight to complain. The restaurant staff were inadequate. My wife had to send her meal back, it was cold, and the presentation of the meal was apalling.I Took more than 30 minutes to return the meal! By which time I had consumed my meal otherwise that would have been cold also.I Asked to speak to the manager--- it was his day off!!! We will never return to this hotel.

Overall a very good experience. The bed was too soft for our liking. We were told at Reception that there is no option to book sea view rooms through Booking.com so we had to pay an additional £20 for a sea view room. Perhaps you could add a comment to the notes for this hotel.

I love the rooms, although not spacious for price paid, it had everything required to enhance stay. If not for the price I would probably book again. If you want a treat, then go ahead and book. Location is prime, food is good and staff are so lovely. Only problem I found was that my shower screen did not close fully so bathroom floor got wet. That not really an issue as it is easily solved

The atmosphere of the hotel was warm, friendly, courteous and welcoming. The hotel has retained its character of a Victorian luxury hotel whilst being modernised to meet present day requirements. It is beautifully appointed and maintained. The food is enterprising and of high quality with the added bonus of being served in a terrace restaurant overlooking the sea. The whole experience of staying at the St George is to be recommended.

“Above all else I thought the food was delicious! The staff were incredibly friendly and an all round happy atmosphere at the hotel. The staff to a man and woman were delightful with my four year old and I look forward to re-visiting with my partner and baby.....Long may you reign, Imperial!! ps and how nice not to have a buffet/help yourself breakfast with 'past-their best to eat' selection! Instead glorious, freshly cooked, served All Welsh!” Ian, Chester |
