Comfortable and friendly with lots of character. Large airy room overlooking the castle and good breakfast. Sadly it is becoming a little frayed around the edges but the staff are doing their best. The room was fab and spacious comfy bed but very shabby bathroom. Some music in the breakfast room would be a definite plus it was so quiet people were whispering!

When we arrived at the hotel it was obvious the chap didn't really want to be there and also when we got to our room it was freezing cold. The hotel is also very tired and needs a good revamp, we attended a family wedding reception in 2003 and nothing has changed since then. In the morning the same chap was serving breakfast and was very offish(not sure if he cooked the breakfast as well)!! he also checked us out of the hotel and you could tell that he just didn't want to be there - it was embarrassing. I do not underestand why they have someone like that working there as it cannot be good for business and also the hotel is up for sale - must say I am not suprised.

Our room was immaculately clean and over looked the castle, bed was very comfortable and the room temperature was just right. The staff at the hotel were lovely, very friendly and helpful. Evening meal was delicious and reasonably priced, choice of breakfast was great. Will be going back again very soon. Hospitality tray was not great, but asked at the bar for extra milks which was not a problem.

Friendly staff. We were disappointed to see the same menu on all three nights, however on last night the chef was happy to make us a different option. This was the best meal of the week. Hotel is in a good location in village and an ideal base for visiting the noth east. Rubbish not cleared from the room on a daily basis cups not washed. Bathroom ceiling had evidence of a previous leak and carpets and curtains were threadbare. A little tlc would make a world of difference.

Friendly staff, good selection of food and all eatable, If I had to nit pick breakfast I have always found that porridge is served as a cereal not a main dish. but still I enjoyed it, made just as I like it. The hotel was clean and tidy apart from the top of the wardrobe ???. naughty cleaner. All in all a very pleasant stay, would come again.

Convenient location (for a wedding we were attending locally), beautiful views and a good, hearty breakfast to help us recover from the night before. All promotonal literature of the hotel includes photos taken in the 1980'S...and the decor and furntiture has not changed since then! Mould marks on the walls, wall paper hanging off the walls and ceilings and rotten wooden framed windows all give the hotel a feeling of it being left behind by the times.Having said all that, there is certain charm of stepping back in time to somewhere so dated and which has so much character. The hotel is blessed with courteous staff, beautiful views which lie beyond the flakey sash windows and the gorgeous Warkworth itself. With the right level of imagination and investment, it could be an absolutrly stunning venue.
