We were travelling from the Edinburgh Festival and wanted a stop over on our way home. We knew Warkworth and the hotel price was good in August. We were very pleasantly surprised. The welcome was friendly and the room was large with a view of the castle. Although in need of a makeover the room was clean, comfortable and well appointed for our needs. TV and tea making facilities in the room and plenty of nice bedding. The village itself is quiet and very attractive and we had an excellent meal at one of the 3 pubs. Good breakfast choices the next day. We went on our way well rested having thoroughly enjoyed our stop over and may stay longer next time.

Sun Hotel Warkworth is a small country house type of hotel the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is very tired and in need of a makeover ,the bathroom was adequate. Lighting in the room was very poor and not at all adequate ( two dim bedside light one between the beds and one by the dresser which doubled as a TV cabinet. The general impression was of a very tired old building

Friendly staff. We were disappointed to see the same menu on all three nights, however on last night the chef was happy to make us a different option. This was the best meal of the week. Hotel is in a good location in village and an ideal base for visiting the noth east. Rubbish not cleared from the room on a daily basis cups not washed. Bathroom ceiling had evidence of a previous leak and carpets and curtains were threadbare. A little tlc would make a world of difference.

Very comfortable and friendly staff. Good breakfast, large clean room. Would have liked a hairdrier in the room - by the time I realised there wasn't one it was too late.

Friendly staff, good selection of food and all eatable, If I had to nit pick breakfast I have always found that porridge is served as a cereal not a main dish. but still I enjoyed it, made just as I like it. The hotel was clean and tidy apart from the top of the wardrobe ???. naughty cleaner. All in all a very pleasant stay, would come again.

Convenient location (for a wedding we were attending locally), beautiful views and a good, hearty breakfast to help us recover from the night before. All promotonal literature of the hotel includes photos taken in the 1980'S...and the decor and furntiture has not changed since then! Mould marks on the walls, wall paper hanging off the walls and ceilings and rotten wooden framed windows all give the hotel a feeling of it being left behind by the times.Having said all that, there is certain charm of stepping back in time to somewhere so dated and which has so much character. The hotel is blessed with courteous staff, beautiful views which lie beyond the flakey sash windows and the gorgeous Warkworth itself. With the right level of imagination and investment, it could be an absolutrly stunning venue.

The hotel is beautifully placed opposite the castle. Warkworth is a lovely village and the staff were fab. I didnt have a problem with the shabby chic look which was quite endearing. However first impressions in the reception is tatty. It would not take more than a lick of paint and a new carpet to really give a much better perception.

All the staff were local English and they were polite and helpfull. The Hotel is old and tired looking and urgently needs refurbishing from top to bottom. The bed rooms were dated and not as clean as we expected, our bathroom had a broken shower, which was fixed after we complained about it and the carpets down the corridor were thread bare in places. The staff were excellent but could not compensate for the general run down apperance of the building. We were given a small discount when we expressed our disappointment to the manager.
