Score from 477 reviews Very good
This restored 15th century coaching inn is situated in the heart of the small medieval city of Wells, by the cathedral green, just metres away from the ancient marketplace.
Score from 182 reviews Good
A small Victorian Gothic mansion in a beautiful part of Somerset, Beryl is just 1-mile from Wells Cathedral. A warm and friendly welcome awaits every guest in this family-run home.
Score from 91 reviews Exceptional
food, service, location, beautiful building
mattress was terrible
The cat. The location.
Poor lighting in bedroom. Impossible to read comfortably. Excellent lighting in bathroom, but in the wrong place. Difficult to put on make up. Not enough places to hand towels, or wet coats.
very welcoming staff, and excellent food. central location
Excellent hotel and good value.
Excellent location and a lovely hotel whcih I have stayed in previously
Having stayed in a double room previously which was lovely, the additional money paid for a room with a large four poster was simply not worth it. No view, except for the car park and room in need of refurbishment
Excellent customer care, delicious food and great location. Hotels Christmas decorations made our stay special. Wells has some lovely hidden shops if you can find them. We'll be back.
Pleasant surroundings, in the centre of Wells. Overlooking the Cathedral. Ample car parking, although not advisable for large cars. Great food with a lovely bar area. Deluxe room worth the upgrade. Felt very festive during the Christmas period.
The menu was the same on both nights which was disappointing given the price of the food.

the christmas decorations was a bonus for out trip.
Pigeons living in the roof so didn't sleep and the most aggressive receptionist ever
Everything is good with this hotel, particularly the staff's friendliness and efficiency. Many thanks to all who looked after us so well.
It was a very warm and friendly hotel
It was the most gorgeous room Iv ever stayed in and the price was fantastic
There was nothing we didn't likev
The food was superb (my husband said the Christmas pudding was the best he had ever tasted) and was perfectly presented and served. The position of the hotel (facing the front of Wells Cathedral) was spectacular and their Cathedral suite complete with Copper Slipper bath has to be seen to be believed. You wake up to a complete view of the Cathedral framed by your bedroom window.
Excellent location. Cleanliness of the room. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast.
The passage to the car park is narrow and the car park has not had enough spaces when the hotel is full.
menu choice poor & the wine selection terrible for a hotel of this purported standard. The food when delivered was of poor quality the food was expensive having regard to the quality as provided I would stay in the hotel but would avoid eating in the hotel. This hotel obviously trades on its excellent location and puts no effect whatsoever into the restaurant side of the hotel. As a regular user of Best Western hotels this hotel lets the rest down. In the circumstances, I am surprised that this hotel is featured in the current TV campaign.
Food, comfort , location ,adaptable kitchen, adaptable and attentive staff ,homely atmosphere.
The fact we had only booked for two nights!
Location, value for money and comfortable room
Some of the vegetables were hard and some of the sauces lacked flavour - we have stayed at the Best Western Mayfield hotel not a plus hotel and the food was superior .
Breakfast was very good. Staff very attentive and helpful.
The uncovered walk from the main building to the stable accommodation, very unpleasant in the wet conditions.
Central location, Lunchtime function we attended at The Swan Walking in Wells
Excellent service. Wonderful setting, looking over Wells Cathedral. Helpful staff. Plain but delicious pub food.
This is very much a favourite hotel for me with the nicest, most helpful and professional staff in Reception and in the excellent Restaurant. Rooms are stylishly decorated and well furnished. The hotel sits just off the corner of the main market square, looking across to a glorious view of the beautiful cathedral. High Street shops are alongside.
Not a criticism - a recommendation. This is an historic building and there are no lifts. Those with mobility problems should consult the very helpful Reception staff when making the booking.
The relaxed atmosphere
Cramped car park
Central location Good food Character building
Nice hotel, helpful staff and nice room. Great location and would happily return.
