Location was enjoyable, food was plentiful and well presented, service was excellent, all the staff being friendly and helpful.

Bar was pricey compared to the other local venues which were very close. Access to the car park and parking at the hotel can be difficult at times

The hotel and staff were lovely, and it was well situated in Wells with good parking facilities. Breakfast was excellent and the room was quiet and comfortable with a large en suite attached. Great hotel for exploring Wells and the surrounding areas such as Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Longleat and Glastonbury

There wasn't any air conditioning in the hotel as this is a listed building, which made the bedroom very warm at night despite there being a fan to keep us cool. This wasn't a big deal as we opened all the windows as well as having a fan in the room

Friendly courteous staff Clean comfortable room Reliable room service Nice to have table and chairs in room Proximity to city centre

Supply of courtesy tea coffee etc not replenished when room serviced Likewise small bottle of Easter supplied but never replenished. Breakfast service in dining room very busy towards end as it was the weekend and no-one wanted and early breakfast this we had to wIt for a table and consequently could not check out on time. Suggest moving back breakfast service at weekends about half an hour

Very comfortable beds, staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast excellent.

Car parking a bit tight, single glazed windows so a little noisy near car park. Rooms on small size but to be expected in building this age.

I loved my whole experience of staying at The Swan. The location is excellent, right in the centre of the city and opposite the cathedral with an uninterrupted view across the cathedral green. Our room was lovely, a mix of ancient and modern which was very tasteful and comfortable. The staff members were all excellent, efficient, friendly and extremely welcoming. Our breakfasts were lovely and we ate an excellent evening meal in the restaurant.

    Nothing!

Superb location. Charming lounge area. Friendly staff. Comfortable and well equipped room. Reasonable bar prices.

Relatively limited breakfast, hot breakfast good, less choice for cold items. Some rooms clearly beautifully decorated, ours was much more standard (in coach house).

Friendliness of welcome and staff throughout visit. Were upgraded on arrival as they learnt it was a special occasion. Very impressed. Room was excellent, sitting space, bedroom and very modern clean bathroom. Very comfortable bed. It was a pleasure staying in such an historic hotel. Restaurant staff were eager to please and food was good. Efforts had been made to beautify the outside and it was truly lovely.

    Nothing.

The hotel was extremely convenient for the venue (Town Hall) of the event which we travelled to Wells to attend, and ideally located for visiting the Cathedral and exploring Wells and surrounding area.

Although the room (No.35) and its facilities were comfortable and satisfactory, the price of £172 per night seemed rather high for an average-sized room (albeit with 4-poster bed), and there was nothing special about the views from the windows (over the rooftops of neighbouring buildings). There was loud music on the Friday and Saturday nights from a nearby venue, and although to be fair it didn’t go on to an unreasonable hour (11pm on Friday and 11.30pm on Saturday) we would have appreciated being advised about this in advance.

The Swan is across the street from the cathedral in Wells - wonderful spot with a patio bar/snack space that merits a Kodak picture spot award! The staff had to feed a large group of us for 7 days prior to my own extended stay - they were gracious in the face of chaos.

it was difficult to check out as the staff was not available prior to 7am and I had a coach to catch by 6:45

Location is great for all that Wells has to offer. Room compact but newly decorated and clean. Staff very helpful and pleasant.

No lift for heavy bags. Parking is always an issue here. Large utility type vehicle in the car park made access even more difficult than usual. When booking they should ask if you need a car space and allocate them on that basis, not just a free for all.
