“We stayed overnight for our daughters wedding at Wells Townhall close by. Really friendly hotel and reception. Lovely atmosphere and olde world feel. Recommended.”

The view of the cathdral from the hotel is amazing. From the moment we walked through the door, the service from the staff was exceptional. The food in the restaurant was very good as were the staff. The decor was very attractive and the Cathdral suite looked stunning, even though we couldn't afford it! Nothing bad to report at all but you need to be a good driver to get in and out of the car park!

I travel around the UK quite a bit - on business and leisure and The Swan is one of my favourite hotels. I can't quite put my finger on it as there are hotels with more facilities ( fancy spas etc ) and with more outward luxury but it is warm , welcoming, friendly and comfortable and most importantly I sleep well. The food's good too and I like the local touch. Nothing to fault at all.

The hotel is clean, warm and very comfortable with the added benefit of being directly opposite wells cathedral in the centre of Wells . The staff are friendly welcoming and helpful - we were upgraded free of charge without having to ask. The evening meal was very good with an excellent menu choice and there are many excellent walks from Wells without needing the car. We will certainly be returning.

Fantastic view of cathedral and excellent location. Room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good and served with a smile! There is no lift in the hotel which was fine for us but may cause difficulty for those less mobile or those with lots of luggage.

We had read in reviews of the hotel before booking how nice the staff were---they didn't let us down--- a 'smiley face' is always welcome--- thanks boys and girls. We only stayed for two nights but that was long enough too realise that the Hotel seemed to be well run by nice people ----only downside with room five was the noise of people coming and going in the room above, (was it staff quarters?) but it mattered not to us---it might to others though.Regards Danny and Lorraine.

Location is close to Wells Cathedral, and a gap in the buildings opposite in Sadler Street provides a wonderful view of the West Front from the bedrooms at the front of the hotel (we had one of these!). It's only a few steps to the market place and High Street of this tiny city, set against the southern slope of the Mendip Hills. We had no real complaints, although the bread rolls at dinner were very sweet. Bread at breakfast was 'normal', though. I suppose that maybe some more interesting bread might have been nice, but the menu otherwise was very good (we were on half-board).

The staff were amazing, we were given a four poster bed in our room, which we did not expect, we had a direct view of the cathedral.. The hotel decor was amazing. The restaurant meal was fabulous, very nouvelle cuisine with quallity ingredients and a good choice on the set menu. The sauna was not in operation.

We were made to feel most welcome. I walk with two sticks and disabled parking was reserved for us which made life far easier. It was my husband's birthday and staff kindly arranged a cake for me. Lena on reception who took the booking was most helpful. Otherwise a great weekend in a beautiful place. The room was fine, although the mattress was too soft and was indented in the middle sadly.

Great Staff really obliging & friendly. Lovely historic hotel. Bed desperately saggy, and uncomfortable (try two people in a hammock) if we had stayed another night we would have moved rooms.
