Everything! We are return customers to The Swan and have never yet been disappointed by any aspect of our stay. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient, the accommodation comfortable and interesting and the restaurant/meals are outstandiing. The location in the centre of Wells is great for enjoying all that the town has to offer; wonderful!

It had a "je ne sais quoi" type of charm about it....it was a bit pricey (more than £200 for 1 night DB&B for 2 people) but worth it. The dinner was very good. The staff were excellent as was the location. The breakfast service was a bit "fraught" - as if there was a staff shortage (but the food was still v good)

The view of the cathdral from the hotel is amazing. From the moment we walked through the door, the service from the staff was exceptional. The food in the restaurant was very good as were the staff. The decor was very attractive and the Cathdral suite looked stunning, even though we couldn't afford it! Nothing bad to report at all but you need to be a good driver to get in and out of the car park!

The staff were fantastic from the moment we arrived until we left. Ideal location. The food was also great but do book in advance as it tends to be busy ( which is a good sign ). For a special break book the Cathedral Suite with stunning views and pure luxury. The hotel has limited parking but they do their utmost to try and fit everyone in, but be prepared to park else where within the city, but everywhere is within easy walking distance..

Very close to all the main attractions plus all the shops of the cirty. Everything in the hotel was really first class as was the general attitude and politeness of all the staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The restaurant was a pleasure to dine in except for the fact that most guests dressed to a minimum standard for dinner. However there was about a dozen contractors wearing dirty t shirts, base ball caps and dirty trainers! I too was a contractor at one time and the hotels we stayed in used to send us a minimum dress cide prior to our visit. This did not detract from the fine food and service.

The location, the view, good dining facilities, traditional style and relaxed atmosphere. The lack of a lift for luggage, though reception offered to take it upstairs for us without our having to ask.

We found the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly. Our room was lovely, very nicely furnished and bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was enormous with seperate bath and shower cubicle, excellent compared to other hotels I've stayed in where the bathroom is tiny! The breakfast was very good. There is a very inviting fire in the lounge which we enjoyed sitting by with a pot of coffee and a brandy after dinner!

Having stayed at rteh Swan before, we returned because it is a lovely old hotel in central Wells. IT was ideal for spending time in the lovely old city. We were well looked after and even received an upgrade on our room.

We were very pleased to be given a free upgrade from a standard to a superior room; which was excellent value for money at £100 for 1 night including breakfast. I was also impressed with the bar area which is very smart and comfortable, as is the dining room. The hotel has the most brilliant location right in the heart of Wells opposite the Cathedral and parking, which is essential as far as I am concerned. We would defiantely recommend The Swan and I can certainly see us staying here again in the future. We just had a few niggles about the room; the shower head was too low, I am 5ft 9 and I had to bend my knees to wash my hair under it, for a 6 footer it would have been quite uncomfortable! The lighting above the dressing table/desk was non existant and therefore impossible to apply make-up - we were up and getting ready when it was still dark outside so the only option was to use the bathroom mirror. The room could really have done with a hoover but apart from this the room was clean. There was also quite a bit of noise during the night with people walking past the room but I guess this is to be expected in an old hotel with very creaky floorboards!

Our room was beautifully furnished, and the staff were courteous. Breakfast was ok. But on the whole we enjoyed our stay very much. Parking was always a problem, to the point where it was easier to stay in Wells and not venute out anywhere as we knew we wouldnt get a space upon our return. There were alot of functions on weddings/Christmas parties etc and the car park was always full which did not give priority parking to residents which was a little annoying. My partner suggested valet parking or marking the car park with propoer spaces as some of the parking left alot to be desired.

I like the location of the hotel and warm and wellcoming feel about the reception area and nice warm fire place. It felt very romantic. Staff at the reception were brillant. I would stay again at the Swan hotel. Only think wrong was that we had chosen a room at the back, which did not give us view to the cathdral.

Highly, strongly recommended. Excellent staff and service and great attention to detail to ensure that guests have all they need. I don't know the name of the chef but evidently a very good one in the restaurant. Refurbisment of rooms, en suites and lounges to a high standard. It is situated just off the corner of the market square of Wells, adjacent to all shops and a very short walk to the beautiful Cathedral. I liked everything about the hotel but would warn those with mobility problems to ask if a ground floor bedroom is needed. This is an ancient hotel (the hotel booklet says there is written proof that the hotel was in existence back in 1422.). It must be Listed, and there is no lift.
