The Vineyard At Stockcross  

We were here celebrating my husband's 50th birthday. The room was nicely furnished - not very spacious but luxury bedding and toiletries were on hand. We ate at the restaurant and have to say that the staff were amazing. They were all so friendly and the sommelier and wine waiters were very knowledgeable and so enthusiastic when advising. The wines (and choice thereof) were out of this world as was the food. The spa was spotless and luxurious, but we didn't have time for any treatments unfortunately. I didn't want to leave so even though it seemed very expensive when I booked it, I felt thoroughly rested and pampered during the stay and now feel it was worth every penny.

The hotel is stylish; the standard is well up to relais et chateaux; the staff were very well trained and the spa was very good. The food in the dining room and the ambience were excellent.

It is expensive, particulary the wine. They had an excellent list of wines under £ 30 and I was very happy with the bottle I chose. But thereafter the wines shot up so that there was not much between £ 30 and £ 80 or much more. £ 30 was not a limit for me but I am too mean to pay £ 80 when I might pay £ 45 or £ 50.The 20% off Californian wine sounded attractive before you learnt the extortionate gross price!

This was a 2 night break for me and my husband. The hotel is very quiet and the spa was very relaxing. The staff were on hand for anything that we wanted. We did have to change rooms as there was no hot water when my husband went to run a bath, but we were given a free upgrade. Loved the hotel and recommend it for a peaceful getaway.

Personally I would like a kettle with tea and coffee in the room, but I know that not everyone does.

We were only there for one night and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The staff were attentive but not obtrusive and our suit was large and comfortable. We had dinner in the hotel which was expensive but the food was delicious and the wine was excellent.

We chose this hotel to relax in the peaceful english coluntryside before getting to the london jungle. The position is good, close to main motorways. The main feature of this hotel is the excellent staff, kind and at disposal. The restaurant is good too.

Total absence of reaction of the management of the hotel when we experienced some annoying problems (no conditioning + no water) in our rooms. A 5 star hotel *must* actively and immediately react to accidents, no matter how serious, and they did not.

Nach Check in von Mitarbeiterin zu Zimmer geführt. Als die Tür öffnete, im Raum ca. Temperatur 40 Grad! Zimmer unter Dach, kein Fenster geöffnet und normale Lüftung (keine Klimaanlage!) nicht an. Im Badezimmer Heizkörper voll auf (defekt!). Die Wasserhähne waren so lose, dass ich sie gleich in der Hand hatte. Alle TV-Programme waren gestört. Unerträglich. In einem ***** Relais & Chateau Haus einen Gast auf ein so unvorbereitetes Zimmer zu bringen, ist unmöglich. Ich bat um einen Zimmerwechsel. Dies dauerte. Ich wechselte auf dem gleichen Flur in ein Zimmer auf der anderen Seite, damit ebenso unter dem Dach, aber mit Klimaanlage versehen. Hier waren die drei Unglaublichkeiten: Aus der Klimaanlage stank es muffig, im Bett fand ich ein Krabbeltier und als ich das Dachfenster öffnete, fiel mir reichlich Schmutz entgegen.

Very nice room and facilities. Restaurant was excellent but with a price tag to suit. Restaurant service very good but was a little slow in the bar area after dinner. Tried to charge me more than lateroom booked rate for one of the rooms on departure but this was quickly rectified. However it was fortunate that I checked bill before paying.

Fabulous food wirh excell

Fabulous food and good choice of wine to suit all budgets. Spa was clean and spacious. Good attwnsion to detail.
