We had a very pleasant stay. The menu for breakfast and for the bar food for the evening meal was good value - unpretentious and offering a choice to suit most diners. The food arrived well cooked, and served promptly. The hotel room was very clean, comfortable and quiet, so we had a good night's sleep. We thought we did well to find such a nice hotel with character in a very pretty village.

Beautiful room with 4 poster bed, lovely staff - very friendly. Excellent food. Quiet location, easy for touring around area. Breakfast times were tight, we didn't like being asked what time we wanted breakfast the previous night - we felt pressurised in the morning to get there on time and felt rushed during breakfast. The room we had was lovely but very dark - we could have done with a main light.

Very friendly staff - the owners very much involved in day to day running. Situation very quiet despite proximity to A303. No piped music, so very restful. Excellent food - all cooked by the owner - very reasonably priced. Very convenient parking. Good atmosphere and all very comfortable and relaxed with very tasteful decor.

Everything was exceptional but the people were the absolute best! A big thanks to Jo, Chloe, Eileen and the owners: Peter & Gina Susan Ball. Peter is a terrific chef. Outstanding breakfast and unbelievable dinners. I just can't say enough in 300 words. It was like staying with relatives you can choose! Everybody was genuinely interested in having a conversation with you. Rooms are clean, spacious, and old world like but with modern facilities. Excellent tv and internet service. The Walnut Tree was my last stop on a two week road trip around England. I stayed in six other hotels. This one was the very best! A big thankyou! Couldn't stay there longer! I extended my stay and extra night but had to press on. It's perfectly situated. Just off the a303, short drive to Stonehenge, Hayne's Auto Museum, The Fleet Air Arm Museum, and who knows what else! It has a beautiful outdoor area. The parking is easy to get to and very secure.
