Room Furnishing Breakfast
Car park was a bit full
The location and charm of this establishment were wonderful. Within easy walking distance of many attractions and the bus station. A beautiful river front view from the dining room and lovely riverside walks just out the front door. For the most part the staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent.
The internet connection in my room was slow and unreliable. It was very difficult to plan and prepare for my next day's activities. I finally resorted to leaving my room and going to the lounge to use the internet. That was a time consuming inconvenience that I did not need at the end of a tiring day.
Cooked Highland grill breakfast. Great nights sleep, even though a wedding party was in. amazing views. Close to city centre. Staff were friendly. Lovely weather a relaxing break.
We had to leave! could easily have stayed longer!
Restaurant food choice and quality good. Staff pleasant. On return for one night night staff porters very helpful, providing coffe at 4.45 am
Room 30 next to car park entrance. No night porter on 2 nights I was there and the door opened and slammed frequently until 2am. Member of staff smoking outside window. Room small and spartan but was a single
Location was excellent for the purpose of our trip. Visited for one night....staff very attentive, very clean...and had everything we needed. Also had lunch on our arrival which was good value for money. Would return.
Loved that the room was right on the river. The room was clean, bright and spacious.
Very comfortable bed.
Could have been a bit more welcoming.
We knew nothing about Stonehaven except that it was near a ruined castle that interested me. A real delight to find the town was a quiet little gem and the hotel just gorgeous. Lovely room, great food, very helpful friendly staff.
Only quibble was that the room hadn't been stocked with towels for two guests, and at night there was no one on site to see about getting another bath towel.
bistro & lounge
three flights with suitcase
Parking at rear
Friendly service. Lovely location.
Nothing to speak of
Very nice hotel, friendly staff and good food. Free parking on site.
The room was spotless. The bed was very comfortable. The spread at breakfast was amazing - not only did they have a full continental option, with fresh fruit and pastries, but a full Scottish breakfast was offered.
The staff on arrival were not too enthused by an arriving guest, a bit lackluster reception. Might have expected a blowdryer with the room. The dinner menu at the entrance to the restaurant was very worn and stained. I ate elsewhere, but have had dinner here before and it was excellent. Took about 10 minutes to get seated for breakfast - i finally just got food and sat myself down, it was only then the waitress noticed me and moved me to my assigned table.
They made us an upgrade and we had a beautiful large room with a great view over bridge. Good breakfast
Nobody to carry our lugagge. The reception desk not very nice
Location by the river. Food and restaurant.
Location very good. Rooms clean. Food at breakfast fresh and well cooked
Problems with bedrooms.Room allocated on first night appalling- very old fashioned and unable to open any windows - all secured shut - double glazed window actually screwed shut so could not open. This resulted in a very uncomfortable night. No air into room when having showers and using hairdryer etc. Also was booked as a river view for which we paid extra (£170 per night for b&b).Room actually looked on to side of adjacent building.River could only be seen by standing close to window and looking to the right- should not have been advertised as a river view. Room allocated on second night was better with a clear view of the river and in line with the description of a river view room as advertised on website.Main problem was that this room was directly above the function suite and there was a wedding on with a band playing until 12.30am.After the wedding ended guests then congregated at the area in front of the hotel directly below our bedroom window until approx 1.15am/1.30am.This resulted in a second very bad nights sleep. When checking out we were presented with a bill for the full amount ie £340 for the 2 night stay which after some negotiating was reduced. All in all a very disappointing experience.Rather than rest and relaxation we were glad to get home for a good nights sleep.
Not a lot, good location is all but wouldnt recommend it or stay again
Didnt stay in the hotel but next door in another building, needed to put my coat and walk along the street ( in the rain) to get breakfast.hotel had a damp foisty smell, it was cold in the bedrooms and I actually thought that whe the people in the room next door came in at night they were in our room instead,
Staff very pleasant and helpful. check in efficient. Good choice food in restaurant. On 3rd night with early morning start to airport very helpful night staff-helped with luggage, provided fruit juice at 4.30ametc.
Room 30(2 nights) very noisy with peolple coming in and out adjacent car park entrance until after1am. Door slams very loudly every time. People talking very loudly a they come in that entrance late at night(no night porter on 2 of the 3 nights I was there hence the use of car park entrance). Staff member smoking directly outside bedroom window Single rooms very utilitarian, water pressure poor in shower.
The location by the river
The chair in the bedroom was disgustingly dirty, obviously brought in from a conference room. Room was over full with furniture. Staff were uninterested, polite but without commitment. Table for breakfast very cluttered with barely enough room for a plate. The most expensive of the four places we stayed in Scotland and by FAR the worst.
Small attic room in need of a makeover. Indifferent attitude of some of the staff.
The location is great. Good breakfast
The internet connection is bad
Gardens were lovely. Nice breakfast. Comfortable bed.
The waterside hotel is situated in a lovely spot on the banks of the river ness , minutes from the centre of town . It was very relaxing sitting in the dining room having a meal while watching the river flow by . I had a high tea which was very good value for money . Would definitely stay there again
Food was good but a but expensive
Room was a bit dated
