it has the bar and the restaurant and the hotel right next door ideal for not drinking and driving :) one slight criticism, the lampshades in the rooms don't fir properly making for a cheap look, and the basic beefburger and chips needs sprucing up with a salad garnish....

We stayed because we went to the Mill ay Sonning. Both venues were excellent. My children arranged the Mill for my 60th birthday, and it was super we will be looking to see what is on in the future.

The bedroom was clean and tidy. Tea and coffee facilities were available and plenty of fresh towels. It has a bar and restaurant attached. Plenty of car parking. The staff tried their best to be accommodating. The tv set up needs sorting and the wires on the cd player.

Convenient location for our purposes. Comfortable and quiet rooms. Decor becoming a bit 'tired', especially the bedroom carpoet and the ensuite bathroom.

We only paid £38 for our room which was good value. It was very noisey when the pub closed and there was shouting in the car park until 1am. When we left the hotel there was blood stained tissues in the car park so it looked like there may have been a fight. We could also hear the music from the bar. The bathroom was a bit shabby and needs updating.

Good double room at a great price. Bed was very comfortable with soft bedding. Good free wifi after simple online registration. Flat screen TV had freeview. I didn't venture into the bar but it seemed popular with sport on the TV and a pool table. Only two minor grumbles. I had to go into the bar to find staff as no one answered the phone on the check in desk. No hot choc in the room which is my favourite.

Good price, warm rooms, nice staff a part from one member of staff. Other wise a good stay. Duty manager (lady with short pink hair) was very rude & not only to us. We made a complaint to the manager about her. She should not be working on the front desk job !

We like the Wee Waif as it is close to our family We would like to be made aware of special rates in order that we can visit them more often. Our room was good with the added bonus of using the spare bed as a settee. The room needs some updating but the staff were friendly and helpful, which compensated. We like the 'family' atmosphere which you don't get at a premier inn or travelodge. The breakfast was good but fresh fruit would have been nice with the continental breakfast. Will always be happy to go back to Wee Waif.

Its location was perfect for an event I wanted to attend. The room was fine, bathroom was clean. Very nice bread at breakfast and food in the morning was otherwise good. However, this is a 'functional' and adequate hotel, rather than somewhere I'd choose for the joy of staying there. Bed was a bit uncomfortable, but that's subjective. There was an unimpressive hospitality tray. The room was for two, but there was one packet of broken biscuits in one cup and nothing in the other. No saucers for the cups (don't they care about you putting cups straight onto their nice wood surfaces?!). Good, full sized removable kettle though, unlike some places. Main complaint refers to the restaurant (Hungry Horse) there. I booked a table for 11 for ny eve. When we turned up, we were waved over to a particular area by a waitress, but found no table for 11 there - smaller tables and some not cleared from previous diners. I went back and tried to ask someone else who finished dealing with another customer at the bar, had seen me waiting, but still wandered off when he'd finished serving them. Eventually got him back and asked where our booked table was. He did then sort it out and started moving tables around for us. However, I would expect a booked table to be prepared and ready, especially on a night when they were so keen to close the kitchen early (it was set to close an hour after our booking as they had their own staff ny party). Once we ordered food however, it arrived very promptly, possibly due to the early closing. It was also very nice. I wouldn't seek out a Hungry Horse by choice though. Again, I see this as being best for practical purposes rather than anything more special. I doubt I'll go there again.

We needed a room for a base for a family party held elsewhere. We only used the bedrooms so have limited real experience but it was comfortable and surprisingly quiet given that we stayed for New Years Eve Making your own breakfast coffee with Nescafe in a packet was over basic. Surely a jug of real coffee would not be too expensive to provide?

“I liked that it was in a good location, close to the town centre and on a main road that meant it was easy to find. The price was reasonable and when we arrived the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The main gentleman on reception was very kind and spoke to my daughter and me with respect and gave my daughter a gift bag which pleased her very much. The rooms were spacious and clean, the beds comfortable and we were even allowed to check in early without a problem.” Claire, Walsall |
