Idyllically situated on the riverbank in the picturesque conservation village of Sonning-on-Thames near Reading, this charming hotel prides itself on friendly and professional service at all times.
Score from 210 reviews Very good
Hotel room comfortable
Noise from and within the bar/restaurant areas. Fortunately we did not have to eat an evening meal there.
Helpful friendly service.
Having stayed three times at the Wee Waife over the last 5 years it is beginning to look worn. Main drain blocked awful smell in the carpark.
Big portions Free wifi Pleasant staff Late opening
Tired room No easy chair
The Staff were welcoming and helpful
Scruffy, breakfast poor
Better than expected from reviews
staff eating at reception desk
Not a lot really. Nice hot shower.
It was very hot in our room and we could only open the window a couple of inches and even then we had to force it open and push a towel in to keep it open. We couldn't leave the window open at night because we were on the ground floor next to the service station which was busy and very noisy. We asked for a fan but they had none so we propped our door open with the ironing board ( and everyone passing could see in) but we were dripping with sweat and needed some fresh air. The rooms were very old and tired, pretty unclean and had that musty mouldy smell and the smell of fried food wafting from the "restaurant". Really not a great last few days in the UK for us. We were exhausted when we left.
Very worn and really in need of a refurbishment
The staff were exceptional. Great first class customer focus, nothing was a problem to them. Big thanks to Anne, Patricia, Hannah and the staff member from Brazil. Always greeted with a smile, very courteous and motivated to make sure their customers were satisfied.
On the Sunday it was so very, very, very busy there was not enough staff to clear tables of plates and glasses. The staff were virtually run off their feet. I made do and cleaned a table for us to eat.
very comfortable bed helpful staff even with a problem we had with the bathroom
make sure you have rooms that are not near to road, choose ones that are over the car park, much quieter. broken toilet bathroom needed updating
Excellent value for money, and.very convenient location
The restaurant could do with a refurb
Location Tea making facilities room layout
Decor a bit tired but price was appropriate for this
Bed Restaurant Staff Room size
Good location. Friendly staff.
Needs some refurb
quite basic but good for money
It was very convenient and the staff was very pleasant ..
It has seen better days, a little shabby.
The bed was very comfortable and the room clean and tidy. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Have stopped there before and bedroom was looking over car park - much quieter.
Too noisy( backed onto 24 hour Co-op and garage - deliveries started at 5.30!) Noisy youths outside until the early hours ( one urinating outside of our bedroom window) Pub was tired and had seen better days.
The staff were friendly and room was clean
In dining area the wallpaper was coming of the walls looks like it had been torn could do with decorating
Staff service and attention was very good and the price was competitive
The room and facilities are well overdue for a renovation and are extremely distressed in both the room and the pub
the rooms were fine. bed comfortable and clean shower alright
The restaurant décor was pretty tired and looked ready for refurbishment
Welcome when we arrived. Handiness for Henley where we were racing. Rooms were perfectly adequate for the short time we were in them. Good value.
Lack of gluten-free options for breakfast - but to be fair I hadn't warned them and they did charge me less for the cooked food I had. Dinner menu had few options so we went elsewhere to eat.
Not a lot.
Very shabbey in need of complete referbishment.
Breakfast excellent value
Large, quiet room, clean cotton sheets.
Broken light, broken shower, dirty shower curtains, not very nice breakfast coffee.
Bed was clean & comfortable, bathroom adequate.
Generally, the décor was tired - the whole place could do with a major refurbishment. Food in the Hungry Horse was poor.
