The Wensum Lodge Hotel  

There was not a lot to be liked. The rooms were old fashioned and run down, there were not enough staff to cope and they could not even produce soft boiled eggs at breakfast. The staff were friendly and willing enough, but overall the stay was disappointing.

Room small and not very clean, curtains hanging off the rail, poor low quality finishing and very run down.

Very pretty location. The flowing river and the ducks made us feel very welcome! Easy walking distance to town. Market day every Thursday. Horse racing once a month at Fakenham Race Course if that is what you are looking for!

Undergoing refurbishment. We were not advised about this. Most facilities were not available. Asked for a room overlooking the river told not available due to refurbishment. Had to eat our meals in the bar area no proper restaurant. Our room at the back of the hotel overlooked the kitchen where cooking smells drifted into the room. Squeaky floors and some noisy guests. Insecure accessibility to the area where our room was. The key to our room was the only secure entry. My wife felt very vulnerable. Hope when the refurbishment is completed these problems will be resolved.

Convenient location

Noisy / rattle from outside during the night as if a fence part of the building needed fixing.

Small friendly cosy hotel, very clean bedrooms, good food, enjoyed the stay.

The staff were excellent and really made us welcome. Lunch menu was very good as was the breakfast.

The staff were welcoming but the room was being worked on (Fire Alarm improvements apparently); however, it was quickly resolved and the room was warm.

In the dining room, although the beakfast was very good, the tables were sticky in that anything placed on them remained stationary until forced to move. The dining room was part of the bar and whilst eating breakfast I personally don't like to see men drinking alcohol, further on the first evening a few men were so drunk in the bar that it precluded me from going in and having a drink.

A good comfortable basic hotel very nice staff the manager was great even went out of his way to make us sandwiches at 1.00am due to certain things we were late getting back would certainly go back and would reccomend it to our friends

Decor is tired.some furniture has passed its sell by date.Staff were excellent very freindly breakfast was tasty though the room was dark with blinds closed.Great location.The batroom could do with tiling rather than whatever is on the wall.I Would have ticked Business above but the hotel needs updating.

I wouldnt recommend the hotel purely for the price.

Good staff deserve better to work with.

Hotel & rooms (15) well past sell by date & ready for decoration/renovation. Website misleading in suggest it has been done recently.Shows 3* when actually 2 Dark & Dingy Thankfull we had only booked 2 nights. Payed up reluctantly and left.

Only one person serving the reception desk and the bar, so had to wait a while to be seen as the lady was serving in the bar area.

it was nice clean friendly staff good breakfast would definitely use again.
