I think the hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the location was great. The rooms were clean and well presented. I was treated with respect and consideration. They even refunded my meal because it took a while to arrive which was a really great jesture on their part and one which I did not expect. I think the breakfast at £15.50, the parking at £8 per day and the use of internet at £4 per hour were vastly over priced and obviously aimed at a tourist market. The lighting in the rooms wasnt that great and I had a particular problem with the taps in my room which were stiff and very hard to turn off.

Friendly staff The bed was too small, only 4 foot 6. It was supposed to be a classic double room! There was hair on the carpet. The wallpaper by the bed was peeling off. The room was over priced at £155 with no breakfast. A RIP OFF

Shower was only luke warm although bath water was hot. Lighting levels in room were inadequate for "older" residents ie over 40!

I have stayed in many hotels this years, mostly 5 star, and this was by far the best. The staff went above and beyond, the room was a good size with a cathedral view, the location was perfect, right in the centre of the city but away from the main road and any noise. I can't recommend it enough, the best place I have stayed. I would love to visit there again soon.

The hotel was perfectly located to the shops & bars and is situated directly next to the cathedral. We were lucky to view the cathedral from our window. Would recommend eating out at the old vine in great minster street, the food was divine, and very good service. Will definatly be returning to Mercure Wessex Winchester again.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a perfect position for shopping, bars and restuarants. The hotel could do with a bit more atmosphere around the bar area, but our room was clean and very nice. The hotel doesnt look very nice from the outside.

Really looks like a Good Hotel - in a Very good position with Stunning Views of the Cahedral - near to main shopping area with good restuarants. Very comfortable room - temprature comfortable all the time - mwith no obvious radiators apart from the Bathroom towel Heater - how did you do it? Ate tyoo much Breakfast ( to justify the slightly high cost - although it did keep me going until tea time! Good ev ening meal Friday night - Dining Room rather chilly but Waiter and Maitre d'Hotel most attentive and electric Heater effective. Overall well done & thank you very much - hope to return sometime. Sincerely Mr & Mrs Mitchell

Location in the centre of Winchester. Friendly staff. WiFi speed was excellent. Car parking fee at £8 was high. WiFi, I didn't pay, was £9 a day. For a hotel of this price it should be free.

It's location adjacent to the Cathedral and the High Street. Breakfast on the Tuesday was slow and poorly provided. There was no buffet cooked breakfast.

location, great views of cathedral. Very central. Comfortable bed. Very dated and battered but they make the best of a typical characterless 1960's building. OK for the money.

Charming, efficient and most helpful staff. Peaceful and attractive outlook from the room, across a wide lawn to the whole expanse of the Cathedral. Spacious bedroom and lounges. Very easy access to pedestrianised High Street.
