Top quality hotel for the rate I paid. En-suite was good size with shower and bath. The bedroom was clean, tidy and welcoming. Excellent restaurant with a good hot buffet breakfast. Very friendly staff. Couldn't ask for more.

We arrived to be met by a very friendly reception staff member. Exterior was very clean, we managed to park ok however this could be an issue if you arrive early during the day as the road is packed with parked cars. We were in a sea view room that was very delightfull. Rooms are ok but floor boards do sqeek a bit as we could hear the person upstair walking around at 0230 the next morning. Overall verygood for the price we paid, clean and tidy and the building has a lot of Character..

Its location and convenience Cooked breakfast needed to be updated a little, and reception need to pay more attention when taking payment from guests.

I thought the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was beautiful and very large, lots of space. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant which was excellent value for money. The breakfast had everything you could ask for and it was fresh and hot. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Westcliff Hotel.

Cleanliness of the rooms are good. All the rooms are decorated to a high standard. The sea view rooms are really nice! The service is great - especially the reception and the breakfast staff. At a recent family birthday celebration - the attentive waiter was fantastic. We had a fabulous meal in the Lamplights restaurant where we were able to dress the table as part of the celebrations. The waiter was great and the food was wonderful! We have been coming to the Westcliff for approximately 10 years now for anniversary celebrations and christmas shopping trips etc. We have never been disappointed with the hotel.

Wonderful location overlooking the water Print a location map if you're walking from the station or you will never find it. It only cost around £10 by taxi to Southend airport in the early morning. Lovely meals at the restaurant and good value for money.

The size of the room and proximity to the beach. There was a wedding on during our stay, and the hotel staff struggled to serve breakfast to the large number of guests in the morning, in a timely fashion.

The rooms were not cleaned properly, very dusty around the edges and dressing table not clean. Bathroom was very shabby, dirty floor, mould around bath edge and shower glass.

Room was beautifully decorated with a stylish bed and even a flat screen tv on the wall. The sea view from the window was amazing. Some of the other guests were a bit noisy when they came back at around 3am. However, once they departed to their rooms hardly any noise could be heard.

Great location, rooms spacious and clean. A short walk to some great restaurants. The staff member in the breakfast room on Monday morning either had major problems with english or was just plain miserable as sin! Very untypical for this hotel, I guess she won't last long.

I liked the location of this hotel as it was only 5 minutes walk to the theatre where we had booked to see a concert, it was also in a quiet area of Southend but still close enough to enjoy the coast and attractions When we came down for breakfast we were not shown to a table and neither were we asked if we wanted tea or toast.

All the staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. Although obviously a Victorian type of hotel, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The bathroom was rather cramped. The background music in the restaurant and bar was rather irritating. Even more annoying was that it could also be heard in the first floor rooms.

The breakfast was excellent and the staff very attentive and courteous. The reception staff were also friendly and helpful. On going into the bedroom at 9 pm after a long journey we were surprised by the dimness of the room. This was partly due to the light on the desk not working (which was rectified the next day) but it was still rather dismal if you had wanted to read in comfort. Otherwise, although the bedroom isn't large the bathroom more than made up for it!!

Pleasant staff, good breakfast, fairly convenient location for most things and literallly on sea front. Pity the weather prevented us enjoying the view. Pleasant mix of old style hotel with modernised facilities. Unfortunate noise from outside hotel overnight which was beyond the hotels control.

“The friendliness and helpfullness of the staff was excellent. Knowing I was travelling solo, they made my stay as relaxing as possible; even choosing a table in the restaurant where I would feel comfortable on my own. The staff were very attentive. The view from the restaurant was lovely, even on the cold, windy, rainy day that I was there.” Julie, Redlynch, Wiltshire |
