The breakfast was lovely and the view was great. Pretty much everything else was terrible. Receptionist was miserable, room was tiny and definitely not worth the price we paid. When we arrived the place smelled of paint as it was being refurbished (interior designer really needs to be shot, purple walls and a carpet that looks like a giraffe yuk!). We booked through the website where there was no mention of this taking place at all. If it was good enough for the Chelsea football team thought it would be good enough for us. It wasn't, unfortunately would not use again. |

Good sea view. Nice bar. Rooms were too hot - no air conditioning. Service at breakfast was very slow. Quality of bathrooms very disapointing. Not worth the money paid frankly. |

the proximity to the sea; the shower in the bedroom; the breakfast the lack of courtesy or general interest from the reception staff; information about local activities ie the garden show; the quality of the bedroom, and the cleaner trying to get into our room each day before we were ready to leave. |

The seaview room we had was excellent athough rather pricey. I didn't think the barstaff were particulary friendly. |

The location is excellent - nearby tho the cheap tacky 'fun' but in a quiet calm location The only grumble was the bar staff - we were attending a wedding and all the serving staff etc were great - just let down by the unsmiling, grumpy, not bothered bar staff in both bars. |

The staff were always very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and the early evening meal also very good. We had a small child with us who was accommodated swiftly and without hastle. Yes, we would return. |

Food good, and helpful staff. Nice view from our window room 302. Within easy reach of town centre and seafront. Really bad smell in the bar area. Air vent in our room led from the downstairs room, where the guest were talking very loud and argueing all night, we had to phone the night porter at 5.30, (4.30am but clocks went forward that night) because we had no sleep. We have stayed at this hotel before, but would think twice about staying again. £20 was taken off our bill because of the problem of noise. |

location , view, breakfast Everything was ok , but the hotel looked a bit dated and in need of a bit of refurb. i.e. decor , tv in room . Apart from that the hotel fulfilled my needs for a one nighnt business stay |

Very comfy (but small) bed Like an old people's home, room service didn't do alcohol, didnt collect my tray of food afterwards so I had to sleep with a plate of half eaten dinner on the desk. £100 for the room was massively overpriced, I would have much rather stayed in a Travelodge and they are £50! |

The room was dirty, the bed very old and uncomfortable. Basically it need some serious up dating, but it gets away with it as it is the only hotel in town |

First class restaurant service, excellent breakfast. All the staff very proffessional and polite. Hotel heating was very good, The bed was very clean (as was the whole hotel) and comfortable. Lift broke and we were stuck between floors for half an hour, lift was not repaired and out of order for too long. Floors creaked badly, no problem in day time, but disturbed our sleep at night. Bed covers were outdated and very heavy. |

Found the staff wonderful and helpful. Was a lovely hotel which may need a bit of updating in certain areas but was very clean. Stayed in one of the recently refurbished rooms which may have been pricy for the night but was heaven. |

Hotel is within walking distance to Southend and the room had large windows which made it easy to have a cigerette without leaving the room! Mirrors wer designed for short people, I am 6' tall and I had to lean down to see myself in the mirror in the bathroom. |

the restaurant staff were happy jolly and fabulous, the room 101 was fabulous. Very clean, lovely and warm on a cold Winter's weekend.Unexpected four poster bed and jacuzzi bath, thank you so much!!! A wonderful town to stay for walks, theatre and restaurants. Old Leigh up the road and shops at Southend. P S thanks for the beautiful sunrise and sunshine on Sunday morning, we walked for miles!!!! Glad we stayed there but a bit pricey compared with competition. The reviews on web site were quite honest, the worst thing about our room was the squeaky floorboards up above us. Movements woke us up a couple of times. Reception staff was a bit sad on arrival, and on booking out the lady had moved on to the next guest before she had finished with us properly. |
