Location of Hotel and facilities.
Lift too small and too many stairs and corridors to get to our room.!
Staff vas very friendly, breakfast buffet was great and the view from the room was beautiful as well.
The bed was way too soft for me
The location Breakfast
The place is a bit tired now . Also the shower was rubbish no power or jet spray at all
Great location a very brief walk from the Cliffs Pavilion - the main reason that I needed to stay. Hotel is beautifully clean and room had everything that I needed albeit that it was only an overnight stay. I booked a small double for just myself and the room was great ....actually larger than I was expecting.
very small lift which was a little disconcerning.
Catering was excellent and food brilliant. Afternoon buffet for family gathering was superb as were the staff.
No parking at hotel premises and extremely difficult to find a space in the road close by. What must it be like in the summer! Bathroom dated and plumbing fixtures old. Toilet was unclean and stained, needs a good half hour cleaning session. Reception staff not really switched on.
Cooked Breakfast was cold Ridiculous Lift Parking difficult
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The newly renovated dining rom had a welcoming air to it.
Carpet in Room 202 was disgustingly dirty. Stains all over it so I did not wish to walk on it in bare feet.
the view from our room, but it costs a lot more. the lift says 5 people, but we could only get 3 in and we are not fat
no atmosphere, had to ring on two separate occasions to get service at the bar.
a friendly seaside hotel
beer choice could be better, tea and coffee at breakfast were poor.
Location was perfect, decor on the ground floor looked really nice. Initial reception on checking in was very good, warm and welcoming.
Noise from the street and thin walls meant noise from other guests. The mattress was not to the standard for the price paid in the hotel. Customer service from reception staff let down the hotel. One was dismissive the other didn't feel the need to at least try and accommodate for me as a guest which further ruined what could have been an excellent stay.
I found the hotel very noisy and we had to move room
I enjoyed the location, the comfort of the room and the friendliness of the staff, particularly when I had to arrive a day early and stay a day longer than I had anticipated, they were very accommodating.
When I arrived the bathroom hadn't been cleaned. I was promptly moved to another room. Things like the mastik around the bath needed re-doing, little things like that.....and it would have been nice to have a bit more fresh fruit for breakfast, like blueberries, strawberries, etc.
Lovely welcome from Reception team on our arrival. Staff impeccably dressed in their uniforms. Nothing too much trouble. Hotel has recently been renovated and looks amazing. Our room was lovely, iron & ironing board in wardrobe. Wonderful views across the estuary. We ate dinner in the restaurant. The food was amazing and reasonably priced for a hotel. Perfect place to stay if you are visiting Cliffs Pavilions.
Our only criticism if any, would be that although the quality of the food served at breakfast was first class, the food was luke warm and having to place on cold plates didn't help. It could be that their usual hot plate/food warmers were not available as the restaurant, was in the middle of refurbishment too.
Liked it all, especially our lovely dinner in the restaurant. Our waiter was very attentive , excellent service.
All very good from start to finish so there isn't anything not to like.
Location very good best value hotel in the area
Room was very small and lift was very very small
Location close to the Cliffs Pavilion. Room size.
When we arrived for breakfast there wasn't any cleared tables and nobody to show us to a table. No glasses for fruit juice and only given one pot of coffee between two of us. Totally disorganised! The reason given was everybody had arrived at the same time! The breakfast times were ridiculous for a Sunday! We were checking out the same day and were delayed by the poor breakfast service, we went to use the lift with our suitcases and had to wait for the lift a considerable time. This delayed our departure and when the lift arrived we placed our card in the slot and it wouldn't work because it had gone past check out time!! We had to struggle with our cases down a steep staircase! Not impressed! I cannot believe that the room key is cancelled dead-on the check-out time! Potentially a good hotel but let down by the Breakfast service and The Staffs indifference!
The view(sea view) and the location.
The lift to upper floors is too small. The overall decor is a mismatch of different styles. Breakfast ok but cooked breakfast was warm. Pricey as well £151 per night for junior suite (larger room really)
The breakfast selection
The cooked breakfast was a little on the cold side
The staff are smashing
The room was very comfy. The restaurant evening meal was excellent even though they had a big party to attend to. The Xmas dec's were beautiful
Nothing I didn't like
Next to cliffs pavilion
The staff were very friendly.
There was nothing I didn't like.
Room was a good size. Foyer and restaurant pleasant.
Stains on the carpet. No tea bags. Broken light bulb.
Excellant position in southend
Needs better staff understanding in the bar seems to take a long time to get drinks
The general feel of the hotel was clean and decorated to a very good standard.
The bar staff struggled with understanding the order and then serving it.
