The whole experience was a pleasure, from the moment we arrived at the reception the staff were friendly and polite. Into the bar and the service was the same with a great knowledge of the beers and whiskeys on sale and a willingness to chat and make you feel right at home. The atmosphere in the bar area and the relax areas was great with their open log fires and tasteful decor. The evening meals although a bit on the pricey side were excellent quality along with the full English breakfast in the morning. Our room with on-suite was comfortable and clean and I found the beds very easy to sleep on! The village itself is a great location with its quant cottages, thatched church opposite the hotel, green, pond and local pub. There are great walks into the countryside just a few minutes stroll from the hotel, once there absolute peace and silence apart from the odd wood chopping. Even the local villagers had time to stop and chat. A very good hotel, in an excellent location.

Accomodation and food excellent as usual. And if it's good enough for William & Kate it's good enough for us.

This hotel us located in one of our favourites areas and was a lovely place to stay. Unfortunately we were disappointed by the breakfast. The hotel useszall the best of locally produced food but it was presented under-cooked and poorly presented.

The Crown has acComfortable and relaxed atmosphere with good food and drink available, access to good walks, coast and countryside and attention to detail such as hand made biscuits and fresh coffee in the rooms. I found the deal to be good value particularly as our room was upgraded, the staff were pleasant and approachable and the range of food on offer in the restaurant and at breakfast was good . We would stay there again and I would recommend it to others. I particulalry enjoyed the breakfast and being able to relax in the lounge by the log fire. The Christmas package also looked very inviting. A wider range of magazines and newspapers in the lounge would be my only comment.

Just a very good place to stay - excellent food & very comfortable. Our room was too hot overnight - we were unable to turn down the radiators!! The bath was very clean & smooth - so a bath mat was needed if a the over-bath shower was needed & was to be a safe place to have one. An insurance claim would have been expensive - and too late had either of us slipped accidentally. It was a pity that the waiters seemed to forget to process our main course orders - happily, we had good company to divert our attention whilst our appetites grew ever stronger and the complimentary bottle of wine put us back in a good humour!! Thanks for a very good stay!

The food served at the Westleton Crown was simply amazing This is a really great place although I find the rooms on the expensive side, The rooms are not that amazing for this price. I would pay 150£for this type of room.

Comfortable bed, clean white linen. Nice relaxed atmosphere, spacious sitting & dining rooms, garden. Not too far from Southwold and Aldburgh. Plenty of parking. Very efficient staff. Dinner was disappointing.

Lovely location, staff although young are friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. Just a few things in regards to our room, it was very comfortable, but the lightshade is very low hanging so we did end up headbutting it several times. Also in the bathroom, it would have been good to have a shelf or some such to put toiletries.

The only thing I didn't like was that the stairs to our room were rather steep and I felt that a more "friendly" bannister would have aided the ascent!

Lovely homely feel to the inn. The restaurant/breakfast room was fabulous, a wonderful new addition to an old building, but not out of place and in Summer I can see it's full potential as a garden restaurant. Room was very comfortable with all the modern facilities you would expect in any good hotel.

Location was good, menu was good , room was comfortable The room we had seemed to be situated over a "Pump " of some sorts which ran on and off all night , also the room above us suffered from poor sound insulation . The Staff abilities were varied , but generally they were helpful, we felt the food was overpriced.

We are always greeted with a friendly welcome, and are made to feel important. The room was really comfortable, with all the facilities we needed. The hotel is very relaxed about us bringing our dog. It is situated in one of the prettiest villages we know in Suffolk. It is an important centre for walking and bird-watching, both of which we enjoy. We would see it as one of our favourite hotels.

Extremely pleasant staff Arrived late as planned and agreed with hotel at 2145 but late meal was not served over reasonable period of time for tired people wanting to turn in - there were other parties making life busy for staff but this was the impact it had on us - meal itself good. Room (Robin) hot at night with no ventilation control

We liked the location and the fact that it was an old coaching in with log fires and a nice atmosphere in the bar, parlour area. Our room in an annexe was comfortable and clean. Our service for our dinner on sat night (we were only thee one night) was very poor indeed. We waited over an hour for our main course. It was very good when it arrived but it was far too long to wait. Other guests were also waiting a very long time. The Crown was extremely under- staffed and considering they must have known the numbers coming in for dinner it was not good enough. We were given a free pudding as we did mention it to the one poor waitress who was having to do far too much. Unfortunately for that reason we will not return which is a shame as the location for walking on nearby beaches is superb.

It was easy to book on line and discounted rate made us choose them rather than a seaside location. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean. Food in restaurant was very nice but could have done with another vegetarian option.

A reasonably comfortable hotel that happened to be located conveniently for my particular business needs on the day. I booked on line and secured a fixed price arrangement, although at checkout the bill presented reflected what the receptionist advised was a room upgrade amounting to an uplift of over 30%. When challenged on the basis that there had been nothing said to me at check in or at any stage until check out on this unsolicitored change, the bill was amended to the amount on the booking. Fortunately my bill included nothing other than the bed and breakfast charge, so the increase was easily spotted.

We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and wanted a quiet weekend away. The hotel fitted our needs. They were wonderful and had upgraded us to a best room. Everything was spotless and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Food to die for. Good selection of wines. Would stay again.

Lovely village location, hotel had a warm friendly pub feeling (log fires and traditional) but the rooms are of a 1st. Class hotel, modern and well designed. Quality of food was very good. Ideal for a weekend re-charge of batteries.

Village location. Comfortable, friendly. Reasonable beer selection, but the wines available were not great For example there were no light reds; e.g Beaujolais, Valpolicella, Dolcetto. Wines overpriced for the quality available e.g. Stoneburn Sauvignon and almost £50 for a Ch. Musar - no chance. Food goodish but not great - overpriced. e.g. £9 for a very modest cheeseboard that had been cut and sat in the fridge since the day before. Utterly tasteless. Overall Ok but overpriced for the quality of rooms, food and drink. PS; rooms could do with better sound insulation

“This hotel is perfectly placed to take advantage of the local area. The White Lion retains old fashioned values and it's staff are excellent. The recent renovation has kept the traditional feel of the hotel without being overbearing in it's decor. The restaurant is excellent and above all the friendly staff made our stay perfect. Will definately be back.” Iain, Leiston |
