We travelled by train so the location was brilliant. We were only staying for one night but were able to leave our bags there before check-in and after check-out until we were ready to go home. Really handy as we were able to have a full 2 days in Chester. We also found the hotel very comfortable and the breakfast excellent. The free drinks promotion was an added bonus and a good start to our evening in Chester. One person who particularly impressed us was Paul on reception. When we collected our bags to go home we told him that we might have left our rail pass in the bedroom. He said he would have the room checked thoroughly and would let us know either way. We actually found the rail pass at the station but to his word, Paul rang us the following day (before we had a chance to call the hotel) to say it had not been found. I told him we had luckily found it but really appreciated the call. There are not many who would do that - so thankyou Paul. We would certainly stay at the Westminster again. June & Peter Dowd

Convenient and reasonable price The rooms are very small with too much furniture for the space. Accomodation is just starting to look tired.

The reception area!!....quite striking. Bar staff very friendly and helpful. The standard of the room was poor. Old, dated and tatty, with a plaster board nailed to the ceiling!! ....And the shower was of the type attached to the bath taps and did not work properly!! On the whole - the room was dreadful. The photos used on Booking.com of rooms at the hotel are misleading!!

Other than location this was a very bad experience. This is no value for money! It felt like a 70s tv drama set. Noise from other rooms, dilapidated furniture, small room size, lack of electric plugs.......... I will not recomend this hotel to anyone.

Comfortable pleasant hotel within easy reach of the town centre. Rooms could be a bit brighter decorationwise. Background music too lively and loud for breakfast time.

Pleasant staff. The public areas of this hotel are of a fair standard. The bedrooms seem to be of a lower standard than the public areas. Do not stay here if you are offered room 308, it is small, dark and dreary. The large bathroom does not contain a shower and the cheap linolium floor covering is hardly attached to the floor, the toilet is so close to the window modesty may be an issue. Refurbishment of this room is long overdue. The room we were transferred to, without fuss, was adequate but overpriced.

Great location. Bed far too big for the size of room. Not a double bed but seemed to be two large ones bolted together.

Reception staff very helpful, on attempting to leave bags prior to booking in time we discovered that the booking had not been received from booking.com but were allowed to leave our bags and on our return this had been resolved and rooms were ready. 'Missing' pillow cases arrived promptly - with a smile. You are so often treated as a complaining customer when you raise such issues, this was a refreshing change. Asked about bus timetables they happily interrogated the internet for us. Night porter very accommodating and cheerful about letting me in and out for a 'smoke' in the early hours after 'lock up time'. Menu choices a little limited and expensive for recreational visitors, who have time to shop around, however pretty standard for Business Users on expenses, who from experience, find it easier to eat in house/order room service due to time constraints.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Booking in was fast and efficient Clean and comfortable room with more than adequate on suite bathroom. Excellent location next to train station. Parking was also convenient and reasonably priced which can be an issue in the city. Although the area of City Road is busy the hotel is not noisey. All in all a very comfortable and pleasant stay. I would recommend the hotel to others and would use it again if I wanted to stay in the area. The only negative point was the cost of overnight parking. The hotel shares a carpark with The Queens oppposite. The cost of parking is £10.00 overnight. Obviously parking is a premium in Chester so any free parking is a bonus. This would not stop me using the hotel again as it was still excellent value for money.

Location excellent close to bars and restaurants. 5 - 10 mins walk to centre of town. Beakfast great - paid £10 for 2 breakfasts and 6 free drinks for one night brilliant. Bedroom clean and nice clean sheets etc. Tea and coffee maker and large LCD TV. Staff Ok no issues Shower head in bath was not flexible enough if you didn't want to wash your hair but for short stays not really a problem, you could always have a bath. Everything else was fine - a good nights stay.
