Score from 144 reviews Very good
Very nice room extremely comfortable, and clean, the staff where helpful, however I felt they were more prepared for resrestaurant diners, the hotel residents.
No room service
Friendly and attentive waiting staff.
No wardrobe or shelves for clothes only hangers on pegs.
Breakfast staff were friendly and nice.
Not a polite or friendly welcome, room a bit small and no robes. Seemed half cleaned after first night- bed made, bathroom still messy. Per booked breakfast at £12.50, yet only £10 if I'd bought on the day... Pretty cheeky.
The Staff made this place. All lovely. The bed also was a massive plus.
LOG FIRES, ROOMS WITH CHARACTER,FRIENDLY SERVICE, GREAT EN SUITE AND SHOWER,CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE
breakfast not hot and eggs both fried and scrambled undercooked. one evening meal disappointing, long wait but recompensed
Lovely staff, beautiful setting and rooms, well maintained and very comfortable. Absolutely loved it and would definitely go back.
Food wasn't as fantastic as I had hoped. But still goods
Loved the setting, the bedrooms and overall feel of this cosy hotel
The food really was quite appalling. Evening meal was bland and unappetising. The starter was forgotten... Not what was expected. Breakfast was adequate but cooked food greasy and undercooked eggs. This was our second visit and really quite disappointing.
Dog friendly - dogs allowed in the bar and hotel which is great as you aren't constantly worrying about what to do with the dog. Atmosphere was very welcoming, decor of room was pleasant and staff were Friendly.
Wi-fi was hit and miss. Food was very average. Shower was warm, not hot. Bedroom was incredibly loud. Located right next to the downstairs toilets, and various downstairs staff cupboards. Every time someone goes in to any of those rooms you can hear it very loudly. You can also hear the occupants of the room upstairs and although I'm sure they weren't treading heavily it sounded like they were stomping across their room. The noise died down at 23:30 and started up again at 07.30 when the staff were getting the cleaning products out of the cupboard. Looking through previous reviews I can see this is commonly mentioned - maybe it should be reflected in the price though. I suspect they already know this as it was the last room left so they must fill it last. On the plus side, the room was so close to the front door it was easy to take the dog out to do her business!
Beautiful location. Lovely looking period hotel. Large bedroom. Open fire in lounge, very welcoming.
Round bath not easy to relax in, a large long one would be better. A little bit too rustic in places; wooden tray for tea making items not very nice, nor was the old wooden table in bathroom which was in way of toilet.
The White Buck is a really lovely country hotel. The rooms are cleverly styled with beautiful muted tones and textures. Bathrooms are exceptional. The whole hotel has a comfortable ambiance that gives you a nice warm glow.
The food!! Service was very adhoc and the food was a big let down. Fish on the first night came about 2 minutes after ordering and it was still a little uncooked inside the batter. Second night wasn't much better - a dish chosen from the 'specials' menu had a distinctly a microwave feel!! More work and attention needed here!!!
staff, hotel, rooms, food, wine, and location fantastic, not one fault and pet friendly. what more could you ask for. thank you so much.
The manager (I assume she was the manager anyway) was incredibly good and seemed to genuinely enjoy interacting with her guests. Easily the best service i've ever experienced in a hotel. Not too overbearing and intrusive, but friendly and approachable. The food in the restaurant was excellent, well cooked, very fresh and generous portions. The room was spotless and very well designed. The bed was ridiculously comfortable and felt like I was just sinking into it. The location is perfect for walkers and nature lovers.
The drinks were a tad expensive at the bar, although I noticed that to be the case in most pubs we visited in the New Forest. I will say that they have a lovely selection of wine & beers no cheap rubbish.
The place is beautiful and very nicely located within the new forest
The room was a bit tiny
The food is excellent!
Loved the roll top bath in the indulgence room. Huge comfortable beds. Staff were excellent and always happy to help. Its also a lovely walk into Burley - just the right distance for a morning stroll.
The room was very very cold indeed. However we asked for an additional heater and it was left in our room warming it whilst we ate.
Everything! Room was gorgeous and loved the full English Breakfast every morning. Will definitely come back!
Cosy room Clean Nice decor
Ice machine right outside Noisy door outside Could hear baby in the next room, not much sound proofing
It was a pleasant and enjoyable stay the staff was attentative the facilities comfortable.
Nothing in particular
Friendliness of the staff Comfort and size of bed Entertainment on Xmas Eve
It was very quiet on Xmas Night but that is normal for that evening in UK!
Beautifully restored house with cosy atmosphere in lovely rural location, friendly staff and delicious breakfast.
Only a small thing but we were a bit surprised that the only biscuits available in the room cost £3.
The food. Breakfast even had home made black pudding and Marmite.
Whole experience was fantastic from check in to the staff and drink and food not one complaint will definatley be returning
The dogs in the bar
Food was good, staff are friendly, nice quiet location, woodland walks, not far from village centre, room was comfortable, bed was a dream.
Didnt have Southern Comfort at the bar.
Everything about the hotel we liked.
The room was beautiful and the food was great,
