Access to our room was not the easiest. The lift only took us to the second floor. We then had to traverse through many corridors and two flights of stairs to our room.
The room was cold and the radiator was not switched on in our room? We attempted to turn the on off valve but it would not budge. The fan to the bathroom also did not work. The latter two problems, coupled with a window that refused to open, resulted in a very steamy cold room. Hence, the use of mirrors was not possible until the steam have dispersed.
We stayed for two nights and had a bottle of wine, a chiller and glasses brought to the room from the bar on the first night. When the room was cleaned the following morning, the cooler, bottle and glasses were left in our room and remained there for the duration of our stay.
On our last night, we went into the bar at 11:30pm and requested a night cap. Although it was a Sunday, we do not feel that this is an exceptional request, however the night porter very grudingly served us. We felt like we had woken him up! Incidentally, another couple were already in the bar.
Upon checkout, I was astounded not to be asked if everything was ok with the room. Also, the reception staff did not acknowledge us when passing through the reception which we thought was unusual bearing in mind how small this area was when passing by.
The hotel is a prime location for visiting the historic sites of lincoln. It also has free car parking, subject to availability. Breakfast excellent and friendly helpful restaurant staff.
