An interesting old timbered building in a lovely village. For the price it's good value. Friendly staff and proper food at sensible prices. Good ale too.
Lovely old building in a good situation
Rooms need redecorating
Staff were all friendly. Allows pets. Good central location.
Could be a lovely hotel but is in serious need of some refurbishment. The furniture in the room was looking very tired and did not match; the tiles in the bathroom needed regrouting and there was mould on the shower curtain.
Gorgeous four poster bed. Hotel is full of character. Good location. Friendly staff. Nice bar and bar meals..
Personally the breakfast...bacon looked like it needed cooking alot longer..jelly fried egg...and not much toast or coffee...but saying that my hubby thought it was ok.
We liked the old charm from the building and the location and the food was very nice , also the Italian waiter was one of the best and looked after all of his customers but seemed overworked
The room was very noisy and the bed was the most uncomfortable and I've ever slept in ... I left with a headache and feeling drained from being up all night
Hotel was ok, clean
No view from window, noisy because of party, expensive for what it is, breakfast was cold
Staff were friendly. Did sleep well once I got off to sleep
I could hear man in next room snoring. Had to look for staff in morning to get breakfast ordered. Breakfast wasn't great and at 9.30 orange juiced had run out.
Enjoyed the atmosphere and the old style of the pub. The food was good value for money.
The long wait to be checked in as the pub was understaffed. Felt sorry for the lady who had to work on recieption and the bar and serve food. And the hotel requires a fresh coat of paint.
Internally and externally shabby. Under staffed but could not complain about the staff. The bar staff were also checking I'n and out people. This ment there always was a long wait at the bar for food or drinks
Plenty of space in the bedroom
convenient location for where we wanted to be
It was ok
It was ok
We think it unfair that so few staff have to deal with many customers. Despite that, it was a very good stay
Although the staff were polite and friendly as they could be we found the room we had was generally clean but the windows, particularly the frames, were quite dirty, also there was flaking paint and some grubiness in the bathroom, we couldn't use the bath or shower due to our physical disabilities .
The minimal people present were friendly and accommodating.
A severe lack of resources, one person covering 3-4 roles, including reception, waitress, bar staff and general hosting. This resulted delays in booking in and out, some people were waiting over an hour for food. Wifi was non-existent, all good and well having a cloud set up but it needs to be functioning and able to meet demands of the guests. Limited hot water within rooms, hit and miss dependant on what room you were in. Needs a dust throughout, large build up of dust within rooms. The hotel management need to review and action ASAP otherwise people will avoid the hotel and book elsewhere.
Rooms look tired
They admitted breakfast was hopeless, and didn't charge for it.
Chaotic breakfast - not enough staff, no coffee, fruit option was a bowl of grapes.
Food very good comfort good
lack of staff
Nothing wouldn't stay there again
Everything, very small room, like a store room, all in need of updating no television, shower to small couldn't move in it without knocking your head or elbow, curtains hanging of rail
Olde world feel in corridor. Location. Staff were brilliant.
Very plain room. Leaking/spraying from screw of shower head One spindle missing off washbasin tap. Dirt on screws holding toilet seat on pedestal. Evening meal. Long wait for Friday morning breakfast.
Room was clean and tidy. A great position in the centre of town. A fair price. A good night's sleep in a comfortable bed.
Room was in need of some TLC. No TV.
Staff. Reasonable comfort.
'Eerie' happenings during the night time. We believe too that it is haunted.
We dined in the inn. Very nice old surroundings, friendly service, good food. Our superior room (with four-poster) was very nice and I slept really well. We moved to a standard double on the Saturday night which was fine, comfy bed and pleasant decor, but much smaller bathroom and the shower was small and could have done with upgrading. I didn't bother using it.
The standard double looked out onto a roof which had some rubbish on it which could do with being removed as it's not very appealing. Service at breakfast on the first morning was a little haphazard, despite it being not very busy. Tea came quickly but I had to ask to order my breakfast after waiting about 15 minutes. The cooked breakfast was decent, buffet options a little uninspiring. I also asked for toast but gave up after waiting for about 15 mins. My table hadn't been wiped down thoroughly when I sat down and still had crumbs on it and some of the crockery on the buffet table wasn't very clean.
The hotel was lovely, the food was excellent. Highly recommended and will definately stay there again.
