Staff. Reasonable comfort.
'Eerie' happenings during the night time. We believe too that it is haunted.
The hotel was lovely, the food was excellent. Highly recommended and will definately stay there again.
friendly staff comfy bed wifi choice of food
no television in bar no smooth beer
Nice relaxing atmosphere with good food at a reasonable price
The only thing wrong was the shower and water were not very hot
The charm and age of the building, the friendliness of staff
Bathrooms need some money spent on them
We were at the v fest nearby and back late. Reception staff were very accommodating about unlocking at midnight to let us in. Friendly staff and a good breakfast made the stay enjoyable.
The bedrooms seemed a little tired and the bathrooms not as clean as I would like to see.
Area Period features Room Breakfast
We've stayed here before like the quaint atmosphere and smallness
We were there to relax sleep and chill out hard to do when your room is placed over the men's toilet so all we heard all day and evening was the hand dryer which was so loud we mistook for a Hoover at first not funny or relaxing !! Told staff who said oh yes that room is above there ??
Lovely friendly hotel in the beautiful hamlet of Coggeshall. Very nice bar and a new improved menu.Amazing historic beams in the hotel and lots of atmosphere. Staff are always friendly and welcoming.
The bedrooms urgently need an update as some of these rooms look quite shabby and very dark inside. Also toilets could do with bleach down them and a good scrub.
The location was good in an interesting village.
The lavatory was dirty the bed was not comfortable and the breakfast was sub standard. We would definitely not stay there again
Staff were friendly and welcoming. Good location, lovely old building and village.
Sadly the hotel was undergoing renovation during our stay therefore the bar was closed. We stayed in room number 16 which was above the kitchen and had a compressor running all night, very difficult to sleep. I did complain but had no recompense the receptionist just laughed and said 'I don't know why they put them there'! The roof outside our window was covered in rubbish which the receptionist did say they were going to do something about. The kitchen staff smoked outside the kitchen door which wafted up into our room. The tables were sticky in the dinning room. The bathroom was not very clean and rather shabby.
Friendly staff, thank you Sarah, Clare, Helen, Ross, and others especially the wonderful bar person Luciano the greatest waiter, so happy to please ... Full English breakfast Beautiful meals Comfortable bed Wi fi Nice size television Jug and coffee in the room Reasonable costs The hotel is older The township is absolutely beautiful
I was told on the last day there is E ghosts... I want to know first thing... great story Really can't complain about anything
Lots of history in the hotel, original decor. Good meals
Comfortable room, olde worlde feel and some characterful staff. Food was not bad at all given the reasonable price
No fan provided in room and was very hot in middle of summer. Building inside and out seemed to be overdue a bit of TLC
Chicken in the hunters chicken was very tough
It's quaint! Although it's got it's short-comings, these were made up by Sarah, Paul and the staff who were so friendly and helpful. We had arranged to change at the hotel in time for a wedding in the area, but on learning that the Coggeshall Carnival was on I abandoned this idea. Instead, I arranged with the hotel that we would arrive there sometime after midnight (from the wedding). Even though this might mean that Sarah would have to get out of bed to attend to us, there was no pressure on us at all. In the event, we arrived there at midnight and staff were still about, but it was very much appreciated that the staff were willing to go that extra length.
I think it's a bit mean of the oveall management not to have an all-night porter available to accomodate any guests whio might want to arrive, or even return from a night out. This is quite an imposition on the staff.
Location in historical village Staff helpful in spite of downpour of rain damaging the kitchen roof
Unfortunately the kitchen was closed due to the flood and we had to buy chinese takeaway to eat In the bar area so we didn't get to sample the meals
Tired and poorly maintained Lack of availability of too many items from menu Bar closing at 10.30pm
Stopped overnight at the White Hart on our way from Edinburgh to join a cruise ship at Harwich. We couldn't fault a single aspect of the hotel, or indeed the staff. Highly recommended.
Nothing to dislike.
Staff were friendly and helpful! location was ideal for the wedding we were going to. really comfortable bed and good sized rooms!
breakfast wasn't fantastic but it was OK and they could do with some more staff to help the others out
The location was excellent for our purposes. The staff were friendly. Everything was clean.
Hotel looking a bit tired. Paintwork needs freshening up, broken shelf in room. No hair drier socket next to a mirror. I realise all this was reflected in the price we paid, so therefor, fair enough. Continental breakfast was very basic.
Building full of character
Bathroom very tired, shower head dirty and dirty walls
Car park was badly illuminated and obstructions were dangerous
Staff very friendly ,position very good ,the tea / coffee facilities excellent very comfortable bed and nice bedding
Towels were very old ,not keen on condition of shower curtain
Great Location and perfect for what we wanted.
Only minus was size of bathroom!
