Maybe, overly excited reviews which I read about this hotel had some impact here as we did not find it as charming as it was described. Nothing majorly negative, just average and subsequently overpriced.
Building in need of maintainance (leaks, cracks, etc)
Restaurant lacks ambience, food passable. It would be useful if waiters were informed about what they are serving. We ordered cheese as one of our deserts, it came as incomplete selection, we were informed about it only when questioned. However, restaurant bill was ajusted accordingly on our request.
Location - in centre of Dorchester, close to the Abbey.
Lovely old building,
Comfortable bed to sleep.
Tea/coffe making facilities
Pleasant/helpful staff on reception. We got stuck in traffic, were delayed, when phoned they made sure restaurant was informed.
