Set in a Georgian-fronted building, the White Horse Hotel offers traditional charm and historic features. With extensive grounds, the hotel is just 2 miles from historic center of Hertford. The refurbished rooms all feature air conditioning, and some have scenic views of the grounds. All rooms have private bathrooms, and are traditionally decorated with elegant furnishings. Rooms also have a cozy sitting area and tea and coffee facilities. The historic hotel interior dates back 400 years, with exposed oak beams and an open fireplace. The All Seasons restaurant serves a traditional British menu and features a sun room, and the lounge bar offers a selection of beverages and has a terrace. Buffet breakfast consisted of large tureems of undercooked sausages and bacon. The scrambled egg was very wet and the toast soggy.

Good bed, Location. The bar was not to my taste although ideal for the young, traveling trades guys, sports tv etc. Limited choice of beer and wine. Local village pub was a better option for "middle aged" me and my colleague.The restaurant menu was quite basic although the rib eye was cooked well. Again very limited choice of average quality wine. However, all in all the rate was acceptable considering the exclusive area of Hertfordshire.

Our stay was not a good experience, on arrival no one at reception had to find someone to check in tne room was verey compact with no accses to the bed from both sides, bathroom door did not shut only 2 pillows loo overflow running all the time curtains hanging down one side.. Bar was very poorly stocked and the white wine was warm we did complain about this and our evening meal and they did not charge us for this. Sunday we went to put the kettle on in the room not working poned for room service breakfast was just about ok tea and bacon bad as condensation had made the bacon very wet No salt and pepper in cruet another couuple staying there as a birhtday treat wew equally dissapointed. Asa this is the nearest hotel to friends in cole Green it was really dissapointing and we will be writing a full letter of complaint to the hotel

The location was excellent in a very pretty village. The staff were very helpful and courteous, and the choice of food was very impressive for both the evening meal and breakfast. The room itself was comfortable enough and clean. The free wifi was very much appreciated, especially as it was virtually impossible to get a mobile phone signal anywhere in the vicinity, even outside in the pleasant beer garden which was sunny and open. The hotel was clean and airy, but felt like it could do with some sprucing up, not that it was particularly drab, just that the main lounge area could do with some proper sofas to relax on, rather than soft chairs that were just about comfortable enough. The room was a little small, and though freshly decorated, the carpet was rucked up and very uncomfortable to walk on, though this is presumably fairly easy to rectify.

It's peaceful location, very relaxing! This hotel has a unique charm, but drinks are expensive & staff don't seem that attentive, but I'd stay here again, because it's got good size rooms which are very comfy!

Great location, good price, nice clean comfortable room, good food and drink selection. Very poor mobile phone reception (not hotel's fault obviously) and yet again there was a ruck in the new carpet in the room - the carpet fitter's trademark?!
