Exterior appearance shabby. Traffic noise.
nothing it's a shot hole
A good value for money overnight stay, pub next door for a good meal. Easy access to the hotel from the A1.All in all a good budget hotel.
The staff were very friendly and the pub next door is friendly cheap and serves good food. Was close to Darlington and Aycliffe which was what we needed .
Furnishings are dated and the bathrooms could do with a complete refurbish . We had 4 rooms and all bathrooms needed updating .
The staff were so helpful and accommodating to my every need and I stayed regularly and was made to feel so comfortable no question was left unanswered and the staff so approachable I felt comfortable to ask for anything well done to everyone
I can't think of anything I didn't like
Good location for touring Yorkshire moors and dales. Good pub serving great value food next door. Very quiet, no disturbance at all.
Difficult to see sign for lodge until you pass it. Option of full breakfast would have been a bonus.
It was straight-forward and hassle-free. The breakfast was quite good.
The room smelled like old, cronic cigarrette smoke. Not like someone had just smoked in it, but more like people used to smoke in the room in the past and to old smell doesn't go away no matter how much you clean it.
David, on reception, was very pleasant and efficient. The he outside of the hotel was a bit offputting, being next to a boarded up building. Inside, the accommodation was good and it was outstanding value for money,
Being next to a boarded up building. There was no hot food available, but the adjacent pub was very good and incredible value for money.
The price was good and even better as it's close to a resturant
the first room we were given bathroom ceiling leaking, and smelt terrible, room no.2 had thick black mold round bath, would not recomend to anyone.
Handy for location in relation to work. Pub next door handy for drinks, bar meals etc. . .
Appeared shabby but clean., the staff were friendly enough. The bed was one of the worse I have ever slept in. Springs were felt in every part of the bed - most uncomfortable, so much so, much easier to get comfortable sitting in a chair wrapped up in the blanket to enable me get off to sleep at around 11.30pm. A complete waste of £35.00 for a bed for the night !! There was no running hot water, management were made aware via complaints from other guests. Having a wash/shower in cold water is unacceptable and having a bed unfit to sleep in is also unacceptable. All in all - poor value for money.
plenty of hanging space and coat hangers ample draws and plug sockets
the bedroom is getting a bit tired needs a face lift
A little out of the way, but the bus is handy
The room was very nice
Staff were helpful and it was value for money.
We had a room on the bottom floor and found the room cold.
The room was cheap but the place was cheap. My friend and myself agreed that we couldn't have stayed more than one night.
The room had loads of visible repairs needed such as the wood under the radiator. I was shocked that there was no shampoo or soap for the shower and bath..
continental breakfast okay and reasonably good value.
Front room very noisy. No shower gel in room. Bathroom old and as a result not very clean. Bed uncomfortable and not made properly I had to get up in night to tuck sheet in to stop myself from lying on the plasticised mattress. p
staff were very friendly and helpful, we were allowed to check in early, comfortable beds, dressing table and a mirror which was helpful getting ready, powerful shower, great value for money, will defo stay again :)
staff very friendly and helpful
dog barking in room few doors away, though it did stop when dogowner returned
Near A1(M). Dog-friendly. Nice eatery next door.
Stayed here for one night to visit with my cousins while home for a holiday from Canada. Rooms was large enough and location was good with a place to eat next door.
Bed was clean enough but was a double mattress on a queen box spring so it stuck out around it and the bed creaked when you sat on it. I pulled back the curtain to look out and there was black mould in the corner of the window ledge.
Very easy to find from A1. Rooms were well equiped beds comfy, shower was very hot, quiet location, good nights sleep. For the price this was a very nice little hotel.
Minor detail, coudln't find out how to open the window further.
The room was a great size, there were no stale smells as in previous reviews, bed was fresh and comfy. No traffic noise once windows were closed and it was on a main road. Great location for what we needed. Lift was working fine, reception staff were very welcoming. Pub next door was a bonus so we didn't have to travel for our evening meal. It was just an all round great value for money hotel and we WILL be back.
Leaving!! Could have quite happily booked an extra couple of nights here if we'd had more time!!
Not a lot!
Very convenient as was visiting family in Newton Aycliffe
Bathroom could do with a makeover. Information in hotel said pub next door was open for breakfast but this was not the case.
