The Harrowgate Hill Lodge

We liked the fact that this hotel allowed us to bring along our two puppies, staff were very polite.

Location next to the pub was a life saver

On arrival because of the boarded up building I was unsure whither the door I went in was the correct hotel as there was no sign on the actual correct building The staff did not tell me were to get the continental breakfast which I did not have for my 2 day stay visit

Staff were great, pub next door was fine and served food up until 10pm. Room clean, good location (easy to find), plenty of parking, free WiFi

Next to a road so noisy unless you close the double-glazed windows, which really wasn't a problem. Breakfast is not really continental, more cereal, fruit juice and toast - fine as long as you know

This hotel is ok for a one night stay

This hotel is not a 4 star it is more like a 2 star we could not close our window and the net curtains were hanging off the shower head was black with mold the toilet paper was like tracing paper I had to report the window and toilet paper I would not stay there again.

It was on the main road into the town a good bus service if required into town. Only 2 miles from a1 which gives you access to the north/south

Terrible receptionist, rude and very unhelpful. The bedding smelled of sweat, the room smeeled of stale smoke and you couldn't see out of the window as there was condensation trapped.

Lovely breakfast staff

Fire alarm at 5 am and a staff member saying it was the fault of the hotel. A constant buzzing and ringing in our room top floor all night for both nights!!!!! Breakfast not as described it was corn flakes or toast that was it! 3 out of 5 of our bedroom lights didn't work at all no bulbs present! Actually our room was a disgrace an smelt appalling

Room was dirty, cracks in toilet and sink. The sealer around the bath was rotten, and the grout and tiles were dirty. The breakfast was limited, and we waited for our room to be serviced. It was not done until the afternoon, and not to an acceptable standard. The bed was lumpy and the pillows were flatter than pancakes. I would not stay again, I e-mailed my complaints to the hotel but have not had a reply. Bab bad bad!

Reception area looked good which made me think it would be okay. Reception staff very helpful. Room was clean and quiet (overlooked carpark) some people staying on other side said the road was noisy at night. Breakfast staff helpful and friendly. The price of the room was good as we just needed a base from which to go see friends.

We can 't really think of anything we didn't like. I have not answered the questions about Darlington - we were simply there to meet friends and dance so didn't do much else

The hotel was very good value for money, comfortable and pet friendly.

It was very hot, we had to sleep with the window open despite it being february and snowing outside. Towels desperately need replacing and no butter was available at breakfast.

Friendly Staff Ample size bedroom

The choice of cornflakes only for breakfast. The 3rd floor bedrooms on the roadside, the windows did not keep out the traffic noise and it was as if you were standing outside.
