Staff member on reception was welcoming and very helpful, the room was spacious, bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was fitted with a shower as well as a bath. There was tv and WiFi. And attached to the accommodation was a bar. Breakfast was served from 7am. Excellent value for money.
Excellent value perfect for a quick stopover. Cheaper than a taxi home
The location was good (just £5 taxi ride to town centre) The value for money was great The room was warm, comfy and quiet The extremely helpful staff who could not do enough for you.
The was nothing to dislike
Clean & friendly
Requires a new mattress
I liked the room and character of the hotel, must have looked very smart when new. With a bit more tidying up it could look better than it currently does. Staff are helpful but only when pressed.
Two things I didn't like, 1, the hotel no longer does breakfast but advises customers that a good breakfast reasonably priced may be had at the pub next door. 2, The duty staff took payment from my card before I arrived, whereupon I pointed out that this practice is unacceptable and is frowned on by my bank as this has caused me problems in the recent past. I explained that the phrase, "pay when you stay" means exactly that, ie; when the customer has actually arrived and is standing in front of you at the reception desk, NOT before!
We like the plentiful, free parking and the easy to reach location. The rooms are spacious, with tea/coffee facilities and the bath is of a decent size. Access is 24 hours, and there is a lift. The pub next door is affiliated to the lodge and serves a good classic English breakfast for £2.26, although marmalade would have been nicer than jam! Unlimited servings of tea or coffee are another £0.99, We have stayed here before and it remains our first choice in the future.
In this particular bathroom the toilet re-filled very slowly, and the plumbing may need to be de-calcified. The room has multiple lamps, but it is still a little dark. It could be improved by installing brighter bulbs. (An LED with 7 Watt rating has the same Lumen output as a 60 Watt incandescent bulb.)
Staff, location, car park Excellent value for money Great pub/grill bar next door
Slightly tired furnishings but no complaints for the value for money
Convenient for darlington
broken hair dryer, bedside lamp not working.
Reasonable price, nice staff.
Extremely uncomfortable bed and noisy generator outside the window.
V nice people.good service.nice pub next door.enjoyed it.
Very good value for money. Everything clean, friendly attentive staff. Décor & fittings a bit dated but this did not detract from our enjoyment of our stay.
Average room at low price. Plenty of car parking. Suited my purposes.
Sink and toilet were both badly cracked. Lock on door was difficult to manage.
Staff are great and helpful, let me check in early New shower was great and warm quiet room But for the price you cannot go wrong had a peaceful sleep.
Rooms needs an update, old carpet and beds need a change. But for the price you cannot go wrong. Alarm went off in the morning on a Sunday.
Good breakfast in the pub next door. Only £2.29 plus £1 for unlimited coffee.
Free Wifi and location

Staff member on arrival night was excellent.
Bed was not very comfortable.
Unhelpful staff No wi-fi Slightly run down Needs money spending on it
polite and very helpful staff ,a nice clean room a good location although after reading some comments on the hotel where people complained about the noise from the pub next door I was pleasantly surprised to find this wrong as we heard no noise at all and we had the window open all night and our stay was on a Saturday night I would certainly stay here again.
I would of liked to have had a cooked English breakfast in the hotel rather than have to go next door
Firebregad at hotel. In early houre
Staff helpfull and polite, pub next door, good budget option.clean
Room was to hot even with window open, pillows flat,
Good base, excellent value for money. Friendly, courteous staff.
décor dated but everything clean. Friendly courteous
The room looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a while, there was dust and cobwebs everywhere, the mattresses are thin and old, it may be a cheapish hotel but cleanliness should still be important.
Price was on the money for a warm shower and a bed.
Helpful staff Clean and Tidy Good Parking
Friendly, helpful staff.Good dining close by.
