Breakfast was a real feast, so many choices from fresh fruit to full breakfast, anything you could have wished for, freshly prepared for you by the time of your choice. Lovely cosy atmosphere, with a homey communal living room. Extra friendly and welcoming, caring staff.

This country guest house is located just 1.9 miles (2 miles) from junction 40 of the M6/A66, offering you a small, luxurious and homely alternative to regular travel accommodations. Some hotels and guest houses can be very impersonal and soulless, treating each guest as little more than a name or number. At The White House Guest House, we are very different, focusing our efforts on providing a personal and unique service, where all our guests are treated as individuals. So if you are tired of normal characterless accommodations give us a try and you will not be disappointed. A hearty breakfast is served every day.

We aim to make your stay feel like home away from home, with more pampering. Sleep tight in a cosy bed and recharge with a scrummy-licious Full English breakfast which we cook to order.

Property info

The property was built around 1760, it has open beams in the dining room and guest lounge, a sloping ceiling in one bedroom, and is a quaint country cottage set in a beautiful garden. Mind your head in places! All rooms are ensuite, except the cosy single room which has its own private bathroom. There is plenty of off road parking and a lovely garden to sit and relax in when Winter has passed.

Neighborhood info

We are on the edge of the stunning Lake District close enough to enjoy it and far enough to not get snarled up in it! Just 3 miles out of Penrith, a fortified market town at J40 on the M6. Close to many castles and stately homes, the area is historic, and has many stone circles to intrigue. Go north to Carlisle in 25 minutes and on to Scotland, or south through the Lakes or towards the Pennines.
