The staff were invariably polite and helpful and the location was ideal for The Three choirs Festival. Guests were able to relax in the lounge, read the papers and enjoy reasonably priced drinks and snacks. Our room at the back of the hotel would have been ideal except for the seagulls and the mess they created. The hotel has potential but the management need to pay more attention to detail and ensure that all the facilities are working. The swimming pool was out of order for the majority of our stay. The meal at the restaurant was not one that I would associate with a 4 star hotel and marmalade was not available for several days at breakfast. One lift was broken throughout our stay and the other was out of order for one day. Climbing 3 flights of stairs was good exercise for us but we felt sorry for the cleaning staff and the more disabled.

The Breakfast and free Car Park The room had no Air conditioning and we were not able to open a window.I Thought health and safety wise a window should be able to be used as an escape. I was told by some person who was on reception that it was not a health and safety issue. Try telling that to the local fire officer!

I was not made aware that the parking was £5 per day for guests. I was simply handed a £25 bill at the end of my stay.

Very convenient position at only a few yards from Forgate St station. The walk into the town was quite short although finding my way "around" after that, was a bit less successful.... a mixture of my own fault and lack of signage. The presence of a restaurant and a bar in the hotel meant that I didn't have to venture out into the extremely cold night. Maybe because of roadworks ? Foregate St was pleasantly quiet during the night with only the odd train passing to break the silence. The room I was in, was very cold and the heating, being only a small electric radiator; far too small and the secondary glazing was fitted in a manner which made it ineffective. When I mentioned this to a member of the staff, he almost immediately went to see for himself and agreed that the room was too cold. I was offered another room with better heating, without further discussion. Very good service.

Enjoyed the location and the spa. Woman at reception would not let my girlfriend in the room until I arrived, then the manager apologised and let her go up, this put my girlfriend in a badmood after we had both travelled a fair distance, I was then greeted by the said receptionist by my first name, then after ordering room service they forgot the main meal, would expect better from a 4 star hotel.

The location is unbeatable for exploring Worcester. The hotel was very clean and well maintained. The food at breakfast and dinner was very good. The staff were very helpful and polite. We changed rooms due to the slight humming outside our window caused by extraction equipment (or the like). However, the hotel wre more than happy to oblige.

Everything was fine except didn't really agree that we had to pay extra £5 for car parking. I think that facility should be covered in overall cost.

Staff were always very friendly, and always there to help. It has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere and all needs are catered for. A majority of facilities in the leisure centre were unavailable including the disabled changing rooms and the jacccuzi, were out of order and could not be used. I am a blind customer who found using and finding my way around the normal changing rooms very difficult. Although, on a brighter note, the staff were on hand to help me find my way around and to help me. I understand that these issues are being dealt with, and apart from this slight hitch, my partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Excellent location, some areas of attractive historic interest in the building. Helpful staff, good food, great parking and overall very comfortable. There is a big problem with some of the lighting in the common parts - gives a fluorescent cold atmosphere - warmer lighting would greatly increase the comfort and charm.

Good Location/Clean comfortable rooms No hot water in the morning could not shower. Breakfast dining area was not ready to seat us because tales had not been cleared from previous guests, resulting in a ten minute wait. Staff in dining area somewhat patronising, i was told not to panic when i asked for butter, by a male member of staff.

Good location for train.Room clean and good size.Pleasant restaurant staff.Nice choice at breakfast.Well maintained bar area. On arrival the receptionist seemed on a different planet. The apportioning of a single bath towel in a double room seemed a little off, though in fairness when asked they provided more.I ordered a morning paper from the dreamy receptionist who immediately forgot.Again on check in I was asked if I had placed my car in the car park and three times I replied that I had travelled by train only to be astounded to be charged for parking on checking out.

Staff were very friendly. Room was warm and clean. Addition of iron and soaps etc were very useful. Parking facility at an affordable price. Very noisy from room above - floorboards. No background music in breakfast area. Amenities were clean but needed to be freshened up. Main Entrance at the front appeared very dirty, well worn and smelly Stale smell in building..

“This I think was my fourth stay at the Fownes. I have always been impressed by the friendly, helpful staff and the size and comfort of the rooms plus being close to the City centre. It is ideal to reach the the shops, bars, restaurants and places in interest and in my case watching Worcester City F.C. There is a good car park unlike some hotels and it is east to find by road or on foot. I cannot comment on the food too much but of the couple of meals I have had the selection was good and the food tasty. Will certainly use again and am happy to recommend to others. ” Simon, West Wickham |
