The hotel is in a good location for Sywell and Ecton. The room had tea and coffee making and was a good size.
On arrival my husband asked if we could change rooms for one with a bath. You would have thought he'd asked for the moon. However we were given a different room. It was basic but clean. The bed was very uncomfortable as the mattress clearly needs turning. We could feel the springs. The room was not soundproofed and the car park was right under our window. At breakfast we were advised to help ourselves from the buffet which consisted of juice, tea/coffee and cereal. There were no cups and no spoons and heaven help anyone who wants a continental. No cheese, meat, yoghurt or fruit. The only choice on the menu was a full English or variations of. No porridge. Toast comes ready buttered and when I asked for non buttered toast the waitress looked stunned, said nothing and turned on her heel. The staff were having their breakfast in full view and hearing of guests, which was enlightening! An interesting experience!!!
Ordered egg on toast with beans and tomatoes, got bacon on toast!
Decoration, very polite cleaner, offered assistance and asked if there was anything we needed... The one credit that this hotel has to offer.
Small tv, unable to order food at 5pm arrival, food was not available until 6pm. No fore warning of this on website. Very abrupt check in staff, unable to offer local alternatives for food and unable to locate/allocate room for us. Felt like we were an inconvenience. Not ideal for a first impression. Would think twice about staying here again and would actively seek alternatives. Hopefully one without a filthy shower mat.
Room looked nice and was clean Restaurant was good and value for money Bar area was nice and relaxing Wifi
pillows were flat bathroom could be a little more sanitised
Room and food was all lovely and was in a great location for our stay
We found out on arriving at the hotel that we could have got the room £30 cheaper when booking a table in the restaurant - I thought this was very unfair as we also had a meal in the restaurant but apparently it had to be booked in advance to get this offer -I think this should be brought to your attention when booking as we booked our room a couple of weeks earlier
Breakfast was superb, after we'd asked for a cereal bowl and fresh, hot coffee. Room had a pleasant layout and was reasonably well equipped. Good location since we were visiting friends in the same village.
Waste bin hadn't been emptied following the previous guests leaving. Very uncomfortable (hard) bed and poor quality pillows. Noisy, both during the night and from about 6 in the morning (outside) although, in fairness, we were on the ground floor.
The hotel had character very charming. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room comfortable. Breakfast enjoyable. As we were visiting relatives we did not get chance to eat lunch or supper in dining room, but it was always busy. Pub was great especially the band on Friday night.
Modern clean rooms great food
TV a bit small bath a bit small
Service, rooms, evening meal
I think the deck area could be improved but its only a suggestion
Had dinner and steak in the pie wasnt great. Room is very tired, tv inadequate as is wifi. Breakfast very limited selection.
Convenient for the direction we were travelling.
Bed very uncomfortable, we could feel the springs in the mattress. The mattress was also too firm for us. The room was very hot and as we were on the ground floor we felt uncomfortable leaving the window open all night but had to. Also the TV was very very small and a very dark picture.
Friendly,quiet good food
Decent breakfast Quiet
Nice decoration. The staff in reception is very welcoming and helpful. Convenient to have a restaurant and a pub in the same hotel.
Not many options to choose for breakfast (no fruit, no yogurt...) only english breakfast and cereals. The service in the restaurant (for lunch service, for instance) is very slow.
Good comfy bed. Restaurant on premises. Location suited us.
No breakfast included in £60 room booking. Choose from menu with care. 'Pink' liver was severely overcooked. 2 - yes two - very small scallops (possibly just one cut horizontally) for £9.95. But châteaubriand very good and perfectly cooked much better value that the cheaper sirloin. On the Friday night we were there staff were pleasant, but service was slow...30mins between ordering and getting our first course.
Lovelly location handy for the festival we were attending.Rooms very clean and tidy
Nothing to really complain about
Food very good.
Wifi very poor. Housekeeping staff very noisy in morning for rooms near their store area.
Everyone very friendly and helpful, village was very pretty.
The knives were very uncomfortable to hold and eat with, lack of side plates at Breakfast table and seats although comfortable were very low for table felt I needed a cushion.
Everything! A very pleasant bar, friendly staff, a great location, a lovely room and great food in the restaurant.
Stuffy noisy room if roadside
It was lovely to see such an young enthusiastic and polite staff. The food was good and we would certainly like to come again. We would appreciate a quieter room- perhaps overlooking the car park instead of the road??
Our only complaint is that our room was about the nearest you could get to the road and subsequently, as the nights were very warm and we had to open the window, there was a lot of road noise all night, which led to a lack of sleep.
the staff were amazing, really kind, friendly and helpful. they couldn't do enough for us.
I did nothing but sleep there, but the room was fine.
Service was very slow at breakfast.
Staff very helpful and friendly, restaurant excellent food and reasonable prices, great stay.
Fan in room but lack of air con on what was a very hot evening.
Price was correct. Breakfast was good
The aa**** shouldn't apply to the accommodation that is in need of updating. On our second nighs stay, the shower was not available due to a technical problem. When reported to the receptionist whilst checking out, the reply was "thanks, I will note it in the defects log". She didn't apologise for the inconvenience or offer an alternative room to take a shower. Disappointing!
