I asked for a quiet room and they gave us a room on the back, much quieter than last time we stayed there. Nice new bathroom. Good breakfast

This hotel is in a fantastic location and was ideal for us. We were a couple who spent most of our time out sight seeing and having a few drinks so didn't need a luxury room. That said the room we got was clean, comfortable and great value for money. The hotel staff were very friendly and the on site car parking is a great plus point too. Another thing we liked was the hotel's cocktail bar which is very trendy and fantastic for a night cap. Overall a hotel which we would return to and recommend to others.

The lady at check in was very warm and friendly when i arrived late. She was the best thing about the hotel. It is also located very near the station.

I had one of the worst night's sleep in my life. The bed was very old and uncomfortable and there was noise throughout the whole evening. I don't know what it was but at one point it sounded as though I could hear the water running through the pipes. The thumping started at 5 and continued until I got up at 7:30. When I checked out no-one asked if I had had a good nights stay.

Self service breakfast somewhat inconvenient. Far from ideal lay out. Bedroom. Nice size. Duvet excessively heavy. Bath towel monstrous. Bedroom chairs not most comfortable. Overall 7.5/10. That's not bad.

The location of the hotel in the centre of Harrogate was great. The lobby area was well-presented and the staff were generally helpful and polite. It was a good price for the location.

Overall it didn't compete with a lot of other budget options around the same price mark. We were given the smallest room in our party despite having a child with us; there was no bath in our room at all while other members of our party had huge bathrooms. The decor was quite dated and rickety, and the tea/coffee/biscuit options in the room were not well-presented, generous or appetising. Breakfast was not very good - I didn't get my poached eggs until long after the rest of my breakfast had gone cold and when they came they tasted heavily of vinegar, my husband was given tea after asking for coffee and we couldn't find a staff member to substitute it, and the selection was quite limited. There was no iron/ironing board in the room and it took half an hour for somebody to find one for us. Our room was also above a noisy bar which woke our daughter up several times in one night. All these are minor things, and overall our stay was fine, but a Travelodge or a Premier Inn offers a cleaner, better-presented and more comprehensive service for the money, I think.

Reception and cleaning staff were excellent (very friendly and helpful),and the location was in the heart of Harrogate.

Road noise was a big factor - woke us up in the morning. The accommodation and furniture were dated

Spacious bedroom. Creeky floorboards added character to the old building.

Breakfast. Situated outside the dining room, had to wait for top ups of bacon & eggs no-one seemed to keep an aye on it due to being out of the room.

The location was great. The member of staff who checked us in was very friendly. The hotel was opposite Bettys Tea Rooms so we had somewhere to go for breakfast when the hotel breakfast looked unappealing. Liked having free WiFi.

The battle for parking. The room was over the bar so was very noisy until about 11.30pm, even with the tv on. The staff said they could move us to another room - but that was by the function room where there was a wedding party going on even after the bar shut, so not a solution. We couldn't sleep which spoilt the next day. I hate driving when I'm tired too as I feel it's dangerous.

plus side. Good location very central for shopping and nightlife. Bed was quite comfortable

down side. Dated could do with a lick of paint, new carpets. Only one lift working accomodating just 3 people with luggage was a squeeze. Hotel has 5 floors! lots of stairs to negotiate or the alternative was a long wait. Expensive considering the basic room and no extras but the hotel I wanted was fully booked.

Excellent location for sightseeing. Helpful reception staff.

Hotel in need of some TLC - looking rather sad. Although times for breakfast were given, the hot food did not seem to be ready until 15/20 minutes later.

Friendly polite staff, good food we were staying because we took part in the farty towers experience.

Very tired rooms in desperate need of substantial renovation. With the exception of the reception and bar the entire hotel was very dowdy.

The furniture and fittings are quite dated, not like the advertised pictures

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is excellent and the parking facilities we good.

The bar area although very comfortable was cold and we had to sit with our coats on.
